- Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has swung into our lives for a few months now and the anticipation for game updates has been building. Finally, the moment we've all been waiting for has arrived! Sony, Playstation, and Insomniac Games have just announced the release date for the highly-anticipated update: March 7th, 2024. AND NOW Tony Todd may very well have just confirmed that Marvel's Venom is getting his very own standalone video game. Additionally, there is going to be a new Venomverse Reborn comic book releasing this June, 2024 from Marvel Comics that will feature the return of Harry Osborn's Venom to battle against the epic villain Knull.

I have a theory on Venom.
During the Flame Misson, we learn that Oscorp “sent some this treatment out for safe keeping”. Of course this sets up Carnage, and I thought that too…BUT… why did he say SOME?
Maybe the protect it if it gets destroyed or stolen, they separated it MORE. And sent on different trains!!
But the symbiotes were destroyed at the end of MS2…But here’s the thing, it ONLY destroyed Harry’s Venom and the symbiotes he created. Maybe by contacting the meteorite after saving Connors, every symbiote that Venom created had something like a virus, where if it broke, they died.
Maybe in the future, the news goes wild about the invasion!! Some say it was an alien, others say it was a science experiment gone wrong, and ONE person says it was Spider-Man (I’m looking at you JJ). But one reporter found a lead, Oscorp. They sneak it to get as much info as possible, and in the process, being attached with a symbiote.

As a Venom fan and Venom comic reader I would love a Venom stand alone game....as long as it has nothing at all to do with the Harry!Venom from Spider-Man 2. That adaption has nothing in common with the actual characters and is in name only. Like Venom isn't a monster, it doesn't want to take over the world with symbiotes, (instead Carnage tried that) the symbiote itself doesn't make you evil and both of its main longest lasting hosts, Eddie and Flash, are good guys. (Yes Eddie started out as a villain but that didn't last long and he was was he and the symbiote only wanted revenge on Peter) Heck Eddie is the main HERO of the King In Black Event. I have no issue with Tony Todd coming back, I just want the Venom stand alone game to actually have a proper Venom because sadly its probably the only chance Venom will get. There is so many things people don't get to see since they don't read the comics and Venom is the most poorly adapted character in fiction, like Venom and Miles actual interactions with each other.

On the comics side of things; we’re currently at the God Venom vs God Carnage stand off after the long build up where Carnage killed most of the Venom-verse (death of the venom-verse), so I would assume the Reborn comic has something to do with that, but I guess we’ll just wait and see
Venom needs his own game. Wether you have him as a villain or an anti hero, let's admit that we wanna create a little chaos.

2027 makes more sense than 2025 for the next entry if Insomniac intend on pushing out dlc for SM2. Given it took them almost 5 months for the ng+ update alone, I don’t see how we would’ve been able to get 3 dlc expansions within that 1 year time frame and then boom, a Venom game

My theory: the spin off game for SP2 will be another Miles focused one, featuring him taking Peter's place as the mentor with his student in Spiderman-101 being Cindy (if insomniac decide to bring in Silk). Unlike how Miles' journey was handled, where there is a time skip between him getting powers in SP1 and becoming a Spiderman in SPMM, we instead see that part of the journey for Cindy as she figures out her powers and learns to use them right from the basics. Then about halfway through the game Silk becomes playable like how SP2 functions. The game has its own main plot focusing on that but also a symbiote-based subplot that leads to the creation of the Lethal Protector. Then you get the Venom game.

@scottylewis8124 No he's bran dead and in a coma, though I'm not so sure he'll be Venom anymore, even if the symbiote is still alive in his blood system, it's possible it could leave him to find a new host.

I wasn't really excited for a Venom standalone game, but after hearing that Miles and Peter (MIGHT) be playable in it, I'm all about Venom now.

Dude every time there is a new game coming out I gotta redo the whole story by spider man 3s dlc it’s gonna take me a whole week to replay the full story.
I hope we get a big DLC for spiderman 2 (maybe with the Chameleon and more as Carnage is kept for the venom game) before the venom game and hopefully not too much time from now, and then of course the Spiderman 3 a while after the venom game

I got an idea what this could mean, Harry wasn’t this chill and friendly dude like how he was characterized but he was a psycho and the symbiote enhanced his tendencies while Peter felt angry about the loss of Aunt May while Eddie Brock seems to be more of how he’s like in the comics with him being antagonistic towards Spider-Man but is ultimately more heroic than that

And since this is a different universe Eddie's story might be slightly different from the original
My guess for how Venom is returning after he died in Spider-Man 2, either some of him stayed with Harry, or maybe Harry finds a new symbiote somehow. Or maybe it is Eddy
Even if it's still in harrys blood system it's possible it could leave him to find a new host, since Harry tried to get rid of him I doubt Venom would want Harry as a host anymore.
To me releasing a game 3 years from now is absolutely absurd but of course we know that all these gaming companies know a lot about the future of consoles and the future of gaming my suggestion as some of you already said in the comments will be to release a DLC for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 because as you guys already know the game in my opinion is a little short and we need a lot more content even though we got new game plus it's still not enough content to keep this game fresh and running let me know when you guys will rather a DLC with New missions or being able to play as Venom I will leave it up to you guys but all I know is that us the Spider-Man community as much as we love Peter Parker and miles WE ARE VENOM

Hopefully Venom is Eddie in the Venom game. Gives them a chance to use all the great components like the look and voice from SM2 but give us more of the traditional venom character rather than the monster venom we got

Now hold on a minute blitzwinger this is only a tweet on Twitter or X whatever it called nowadays, but still it not confirm by insomniac if they are going to works on so many games throughout the years of 2024 to 2027 we still have some other games to be looking forward to like wolverine the game or possibly marvel spider man 3 or whatever plans insomniac is working on the rumor game of spider man venom or not it up to them not us.
I was under the impression that a venom game would be non-canon but its shaping up to be a canon part of the story?? Really interested & kind of concerned to see how they bring him back at all considering his dramatic defeat in Spider-Man 2

What reasons would Insomniac's Venom have to fight against Knull, exactly? His entire motivation in the third act is to just infect the world with Klyntar. Wouldn't he be more inclined to fight alongside Knull? None of his actions would imply that he'd rebel against him.

You know what is crazy with how much x men content we are getting it’s a very high likely hood that we get an x men game and can you think about just being able to fight sentinels
I hope that this isn't 100% true tbh mainly due to Peter and Miles also being playable i'd rather the main focus be on Venom and its new host in this game the spidermen got their own times to shine, and they'll get more allegedly coming in time, at most one of the spidermen being present probably peter due to the flame side mission being his and miles not having a connection to this universes carnage.

We'll I personally don't think it would be such a good idea for Harry Osborn to be Venom again in it, I admit having Harry Osborn as Venom serve as a antagonist and final boss for Marvels Spider-Man 2 was a acceptable move, but to have Venoms own solo game star him instead of Eddie Brock as Venoms host would be a middle finger to fans of the character.
Crazy that Spider-Man 2 is a game that can be 100% finished in 16 hours or less. Expected 20-25ish hours
If you take your time and do a good amount of side missions you can finish it in 20-21 hours which is how long it took me.

I'd love a Venom game but waiting till 2027, it being on a smaller scale like the Miles game, and him sharing it with Peter and Miles would be disappointing. It'd be better if at least he was playable in maybe a late Spiderman 2 DLC, and/or if he was a playable character in Spiderman 3
Why not just make all this into a dlc? The current game already has all the assets why re-sell Spider-Man without using the latest game to its full potential? I really don’t like how they handled the story with Spider-Man 2 made it very difficult to go on from here especially since you know the entire iconic sinister 6 cast is dead except for Norman and Otto. I know death was necessary for this dark story but no one of importance died in the game to truly make an impact like for example if that girl in the carnival would’ve died, Because Peter couldn’t save her that would’ve justified the black suit “making him a better Spider-Man” or if we went up against 1 of the villains in the first game (SHOCKER) and basically retired him to the hospital ALMOST killing him while getting a altered version of the iconic “GET BACK HERE SHOCKER” but instead a lot of aspects like that were missing and that’s why the story feels hollow in retrospect. I also love the sandman boss fight… kinda. He was a little cheesy looking with his actual face model hair and outfit. But my only gripe with that was I wish it was later in the game and was written into the story and not the introduction but having the city get destroyed by sand half way through could be a challenging obstacle I suppose

My guess is that peter will give Anti venom to Harry, and Harry will act as venom but in an Anti venom style. Kinda boring, but it makes the most sense

Something feels wrong about that tweet. Why would a venom *standalone* game have Miles and Peter playable? For the game to have all 3 of them playable on a side-game with that small of a budget? Something feels really off here. Two spidermen already strained Insomniac badly - why does all 3 being playable seem realistic?
Something people also need to consider is Tony is as much of a fan as we are, so he's retweeting because it's something he's hyped about and he knows he's been doing voice-work for Venom recently - not necessarily because he has some inside scoop. Voice Actors are very *very* rarely given that kind of info.
