This hits so hard when you have lived through it. The itching never truly stops and on the occasions it does, you’ve become so used to itching that your mind tricks you into itching and the whole process starts over. The best way I can describe it is to imagine that there are insects crawling just under your skin, and the more you try to ignore it the more intense the urge to scratch becomes.
I can relate to her so much. I've been struggling with atopic dermatitis since childhood and it has always been a constant battle. I've got some kind of relief after I hit puberty, but as soon as I had to handle stress from high school, I began to have big non stop flare ups. Thank god I'm now on a medication that makes my skin 90% better. However, I still have to take care of myself and watch out what I eat, what I wear, what I feel emotionally... We are on a day to day battle and it's very important to see more people sharing their stories. Thank you for doing it!
The emotional part is extremely important to take care of. I've had a vicious circle going too many times where I will feel stressed or sad and my skin would basically go from all fine to full flare up. Because of the eczema, I would be even more sad or stressed out and it led to depression where I couldn't find the energy to treat the skin. And it can go on for weeks. I'm 24 now and it is so draining to think about having to be like this for the rest of my life.
It's been a long time since the video came out, but I can relate to her. I'm in my 20s and it it hard to see people my age to enjoy themselves in their body and then look at mine full of itchy and scaly parts. It's emotionally tiring, but I hope I can get it more controlled knowing it's for, well, ever. I thank people who shares their experience so thank you for this video.
I suffered from Atopic Epidermatisis for 4 months and I literally scratched and torn my skin layers in leg part. Antibiotic injection worked for 1 week and thereafter, same story continues. I found a relief after constantly applying a moisturiser and used a small brush whenever I felt itchy rather than using my hands and peeling my skin completely.
