I feel like this series just shows how poor the elo system really is. There are smurfs and boosted people in 90% of ranked games and its just a luck of the draw if you get to where you're supposed to be. Even as a diamond player i hard carry about 50% of the games i win and i could easily derank down to mid plat if i had a bad streak of teammates.
you're exaggerating about that 90%. besides, you're just as much likely to be paired in team with smurf as against him, so eventually it all comes up to your individual skill

Elo does not matter nowadays since you find high elo players playing those low elos all time, I would say in silver/gold there are more higher elo players than silver/gold ones
