"Mega Man: A Day in the Limelight" is a series of fan-games originally started back in 2010 by Riverroad. These games take you through the events of the classic Mega Man games, but with the twist of putting you in control of the previous game's Robot Masters. A small demo for the 3rd installment was released in 2013, but the game was discontinued some time thereafter.
Now, several years later, the game has been revived! A big thank you to LejesRimul, the lead director of the Limelight 3 revival, for allowing me to be a part of the project and to create this trailer to promote it. As stated in the trailer, a demo for the next version of the game is now out! This demo includes all 8 playable Robot Masters, as well as one secret character!

And for those of you here wondering: Yes, I'll be doing a playthrough of the demo in my usual style soon-ish. I do have a lot to talk about with it, plus there's a bunch of other things on the horizon that kinda warrant me finally coming out of hiatus as well.
Have you heard of mega man OP2? You might make the first OP game first. But. OP2 falls into the same pool as Super mega man 3 and mega man 42.

Never thought I would see this make a come back, can't wait to experience how all the new levels play.
Although the franchise is decidedly that of robotics, and Japanese mecha, you can definitely see the influence of classic western superhero comics shine through. As kids in the 80s and 90s we always used to talk and imagine "what if" and wonder what it would be like to have the robot masters (originally supervillains) face off against one another. Fan games make this possible.
This is almost like a fever dream, the new update with Pharaoh Man is also my favorite out of the bunch, LejesRimul is doing god's work

HOLY SHIT WHAT DO YOU MEAN LIMELIGHT 3 IS STILL ALIVE. This game has been in dev hell for sooooo long, insane to see it actually potentially coming out??? God these next few years are going to be so damn good for Mega Man fangames.

Possibly the most creative fangame series, basically taking BN6's concept of being able to play as another character via the LinkNavis, applying it to the classic Mega Man series, and making a whole game centered around it.
AND they brought the unused Sphinx miniboss into reality.
This, Mega Man Arena, and Mega Man Maker are all such wonderful projects. It's awesome to see people bringing new life into these classic games!

Been a long time ol pal......
Long time lurker, good to see you back with a playthrough on the ready.
I played through the demo as well and I would like to see your thoughts on it. Personally, I think it has potential but has some things that needs to be ironed out. Some of the bosses rely too much on twitch reflexes too much like Dive Man, who honestly, I only beat without his weakness because I got lucky, and he just kept shooting dive missiles. Some playable RMs are also too situational, namely Needle, Magnet and Shadow.
- Needle Man's Needle Cannon does too little damage to be useful for the most part, and the needle head plow thing freezes you in place. The head plow's damage output is the same as Hard Man's Hard Knuckles so there isn't much point using him with Hard Man around.
- Magnet Man is just... the average guy. Too painfully average. Top Man does the homing schtick much better than Magnet Missiles and that's without having to consume weapon energy.
- Gemini Man is okay, I don't use him too much, but Gemini Laser could be handy sometimes. Some bonus paths with his Gemini Clones in other MM4 RM stages outside of Dive Man's would be something.
- Hard Man doesn't get knocked back, jumps very high and has decent attacks. Just a little bit slow and the ground pound has a tiny bit of delay. Not bad tradeoffs.
- Top Man trades a lot of his mobility for Top Seekers, which are very useful. A nice character to use to deal with those enemies that fly around all over the place.
- Snake Man can climb walls and has decent damage output to make up the limitations of his projectile. Also good to have.
- Spark Man is like Mega Man X except he can shoot in 7 directions. Nuff said. Again, bonus stuff in other stages involving electricity would be nice. As a side note, Bright Man stage drags on for too long IMO. It at least feels way longer than the other Robot Masters' stages.
- Shadow Man gets completely overshadowed(heh) by Spark Man. The giant spark plug shoots in more directions, has better range, has a charge shot and can dash, which just blows the robot ninja out of the water.
But I will let a more experienced player talk. I am very much a casual player. These are just my thoughts on the demo so far.
I'm actually in agreement with a lot of these points! Even though that might seem a bit strange (given I opted to make the trailer for this, after all), I'm still not going to shy away from laying out any major issues I find with the game once I get my playthrough uploaded. That's mainly because, like you said, this project has a lot of potential. It's just that it needs some adjustments in a few places to really shine.

A combination of real life obligations and just not having any real motivation to make videos for the longest time. Thankfully a lot has changed for the better since then.

@@sonicthehedgehog71 I'm not the head of the revival project, so I can't say for certain. I suggest not bothering the new lead behind the game about it either (since asking frequently about that kind of thing can easily lead to backlash).
