How do I keep the cover from sinking in the pool as I get started stretching it across?
Put up the deck pins and when you bring it across the pool, hook the springs on the pins. You should be able to hook 50% of the springs on by hand.
Hi, I have a new Raynor mesh cover over my kidney shaped pool. The installation instructions say on one page "Tighten straps until springs are compressed by 50%" But on another page says no more than 50%... Should I be aiming for 75% which is in the middle?
You want the spring to "come out" or "pull" from its original position about 50%. You could go a little more or less. just have to adjust so its 'snug" and not to tight.
Is one pool cover color better than another?
No. Just a preference on what it looks like in the backyard.

Say where can I get one of those cover tools, that will make my closing very easy. If you are not sure, how long is the tool
You mean the tool to put the springs on? I just went to the Wreckers with a spring and pin in my hand and found a bar skinnier than the original. I use that one for closing and the original for opening. For the amount of pools I do some pools are longer than others and I needed more leverage. So, the longer the bar the better the leverage.

Which cover patch repair kit would you recommend?
Great question. I bring it to a manufacturer that make safety covers. Never used a patch kit because I think it wouldn't hold very long.
