One of the best cars I ever owned. Lazy V8 and leather armchair with quiet tyres. So comfortable it can creep the speed up gradually without you noticing. That's where cruise control would be useful.
Well done young man, your Jaguar looks great. The temperature gauge, that is the car playing tricks on you so it keeps your attention and stops you drifting off to sleep in the quiet and serene atmosphere of wafting along!
There is very little to the cruise control on these late ones. The master switch by the gear selector, the brake pedal switch and the steering wheel switch and clock spring. So probably steering wheel related!
This is so weird seeing this. I decided in late 2022 that I wanted an XJ as my next car. I found this exact car on autotrader and must've clicked back on the ad every day for almost two months. Eventually, I messaged the seller asking to see it and heard nothing back. In the meantime, I found a silver XJ Sport in Kingston-Upon-Hull and ended up getting that in February 2023. I had to get the front passenger door fixed so it would open, the brakes and front suspension sorted, and a full service. Since then, it's done 7,000 miles, been my wedding car, got me from Sheffield to Tenby for my honeymoon and back again on a tank and a half, and been absolutely great. I'm going to subscribe to your channel and go through your videos with this car to see what it would've been like had I gone for my first choice. Great video!
Hi Rick, that’s so crazy isn’t it! Glad you found one and it’s been part of so many memories 👍🏻When looking through you’ll see many bits I had to do but it’s great now it’s done and back on the road. Few issues to sort so not quite over yet. These cars are great value for money but always have something to do on them. Doors seem to be a “sticking” point as mine was the same (albeit rear). Still got clunking too, it never ends, but driving it down the road so comfortably is definitely worth it 😁
@JAYPCARS haha I know that feeling mate, my front suspension is still slightly clunky even with new shockers and it's taken me over a year to find a certain bushing for the rear, but they're great land barges aren't they. I found an old video where a Jag salesman said that once you've been bitten by a Jaguar, you've had it, nothing else will do. I'm inclined to agree haha
That’s the issue isn’t it, they’re at an age where there’s always something even if you change a load of bits! Yes that’s true, I haven’t had a daily jag yet but having one to play with is always nice. Might grab and XF Sportbrake at some point, it’ll have to be cheap though because they make expensive paperweights in 2.7 & 3.0L!
I've been thinking about getting a x350 to waft to france and back in to visit my parents a few times a year, currently doing the journey in my 1996 volvo 940 gle turbo estate which does about the same mpgs as your x308(?) so fuck it why not.
So proud of you for knuckling down, trying something new (and potentially dangerous) and getting this well deserved beauty back on the road!
Thanks Mike, it was certainly a learning curve but now I don’t have to shy away from rust buckets!

It’s certainly comfortable, wafting around in your own little bubble!
Well done bud, been watching the progress, nice to see the beast on the road! 🎉
It sure is! I’ve already forgotten the amount of work that went into it as that doesn’t matter now it’s got a new life! Thanks for watching 😁

Luckily it didn’t go above half way. The thought provoking temperature gauge is such a good feature!
That sounds like the perfect explanation, I’ll go with that 😂
Optional extra maybe?
I knew you'd get it back on the road...never a doubt, ever...maybe.🤣
Got to have faith 😇
Went well 🎉🎉🎉
You did good 👍
Thanks Sandy 💪🏻

Is it as simple as press set on the steering wheel and it’ll maintain speed? No other buttons work on the steering wheel either!
@@JAYPCARS Yea. Need a new clock spring then. Surprised the horn works
@@AndyK.1 Ok cool, will add that to the list. Yes that’s why we questioned if clock spring!

Why not eh, only here once! Got to enjoy these things 👍🏻
