You get to decide the meaning for any given situation, the person in front of you in a long queue at the post office may be getting stressed out of their mind while you're calm and relaxed, you may both have many things to fit into your day but who is making better use of their time. Personally I've found that moving through life at your own pace and nobody else's brings a great amount of self control and ability in sports and in many arias of life

My 9 year old daughter just gave me a great example of processing her world and looking at things from another perspective. about 2 hours ago, she had £55 stolen out of her purse in Tesco...all of her Easter money gone and the toys she bought had to go back and while she cried and got upset, within 10 minutes she changed her reality and her upset to positive thought. She said "well, at least I'll have less stuff in my bedroom now, to make a mess with". Bless her! She saw how this could be positive for her...less time tidying up!!! Ha ha. Great video, I needed this today. Thanks Peter. Joanna :)

I agree to what peter said to a degree. My stress mostly come from my fulltime job, like pressure from boss and client. Now I quit my 9_5 and I am stress free. I guess it is that simple. No matter how I change my perception, I would not enjoy being shouted at by nasty boss and clients.

I'm finding these videos very good in helping me turn around my attitude from some negative internal feelings to more neutral ones (from which who knows what might grow, really!). One thing I use these talks to help me with is pain, which is very good at derailing me. If you do a video sometime (or if you've already done one) on pain or other more extreme circumstances, I'd be so glad of it. It isn't that I don't "know what to do" (slow down, focus on my breathing, check my physical sensations, stay with myself emotionally through the discomfort, etc). - but it makes an amazing difference to hear it repeated to me by someone else.

still can't understand how lowering the importance on my core goals in life helps me achieve them. And they are my own personal choice, not based on social programming or somebody else telling me what I should be chasing. Being healthy, feeling good to enjoy life, a good home that I don't need to pay for 30 years getting up early to do someone else's tasks. Nice car, free time to do sports and activities I truly enjoy, connect with great people. and the money to do some basic stuff. Just basic stuff.
excellent explanation, I can now see how I am creating stress for myself.

Wow! This is an amazing video about the deeper insights of stress and how we can overcome it! Especially as I'm a high school junior, stress is like a daily thing for me and it blocks me from excelling..
I've also come up on someone named Paramahamsa Nithyananda recently on RUclips and he also talks about stress and how to easily overcome it which also really helped me and I'll be attending a program with him this December 1-21st to completely live a stress-free life permanently forever. They are offering an amazing combination of spiritual alchemy products to remove any negative emotions and the help of initiations into the state of powerfulness permanently so that our daily life can go to the next level that is without any negative emotions or feelings and only positive, amazing actions!

What's wrong with this moment right now???
Great great question to ask myself all day long.
All the wrong and all the right is only in my head.
You mention often Einsteins frase saying.
Do you want to live in a friendly or in a hostile universe?
The only person who can answer that question is me. 😊
    Simple!
I actually want to add another quote of Einstein that I love:
Make everything as easy as possible but not easier then that.
    Thank you Peter as always.
    Big hug.

Yeah, interesting metaphor and there’s two ways to look at that. She might have left you because you *were* no good; in which case, make the changes. Or, she was maybe the one who was no good and has made space for the next. In either the case, the expectations are a) the next relationship is doomed cos im no good or b) I cant wait for the next relationship to be over to meet the next one after that, who is right.
After 20 relationships and 25 years later - life has passed us by, kept alive by hope or despair. The end result is the same, but has the journey been more empowering with the expectation and matching result of failure, or constantly dashed hope? The answer to this question is what causes me stress. The only winning move, is not to play! Be zen. Ive always wondered about this being grateful thing. To who or what should we be grateful? I dont see it, but so many say it - its enough to make me unsure and uncertain!

Have learned a lot from researching some of your work so thankyou for that, i just watched all of this video and I wonder what would you recommend in a situation where I am passionate and adamant to make a living, make something out of myself, have a family of my own and be the best I can be but am in an environment where my surrounding people have a completely different way of thinking and seeing things? I find myself in this situation a lot and it causes me stress. I understand what you are saying stress is a biproduct of the external world not being what you want into to be however by eliminating that stress will that not keep me away from thinking that I want to change my ways? Sometimes I think in my head when I get stressed it's for a good reason and I almost don't want to be happy in some situations because they aren't leading me to where I want to be. Would appreciate to hear your point of view, thankyou.

Hi, I think I can say that we live in similar conditions. First of all, I apologize if my english is a little bit incorrect, I'm from Latin America. As I said, we live in similar environments and found so many ways for not to be stressed. The most important of all, is your mindset. That's what you have. Unfortunately, it's really hard to change the mindset of the people around you, but you're not responsible for that. That's your external world. If you want to change it, the first step is change yourself. Just at the time when you feel inner peace, is when you can try to help others to change. I understand exactly the way that you feel, but just when accepted the fact that the others have the right to think how they do, I felt free. Sometimes we can feel guilty, and maybe that's the reason why we get stressed. But as I said, the most important is your inner peace. Look for it, find it, and keep it. Greetings.

I'm not sure of the connection, but I think people that care more are more stressed, and people that have more responsibility are stressed. The more selfish a person is, the less they have to care about. The less you have to care about, the less stressed you are.... If you don't care about anything but yourself, then there's only you to worry about - that equals less stress.... If you care about your family, getting the job done at work, the homeless cat in your neighbors yard, etc. etc.... that is stressful... Don't care = no stress...

  • @mike.p.1400
    @mike.p.1400 7 лет назад +1

There are many forms of stress. But let's talk about the most common. Work stress.
Let's look a some of the causes. Traffic. Deadlines. Dangerous jobs. Jerk bosses. Jerk co workers. Jerk customers. Bordem. Rotinness. And many more.
If you have responsibilities your stressful job can be tough to leave. But not impossible. If you don't have responsibilities simply learn a craft and become good at it.
Keep your expenses down. Live within your means. Work when you want. Problem solved. If you have no RESPONSIBILITIES !!!!!!!!!!!
    Your welcome.

I'm stressed because I am having a hard time getting in shape- and I don't want to lower my importance. I purposely stacked my happiness on whether I could get in shape and lose all my excess weight or not so that I would not neglect it... Thing is, I'm failing..Terribly. I feel like it is because I am alone in it. I don't haave a support system, but also because I am having a really hard time holding myself accountable. It scares me that I will go to the moon to do what I need to do as long as I know someone else is watching, but I have such a hard time doing it myself. Anyone have any ideas- they would be helpful.

+Jasmine Grandberry Bro I struggled with weight loss for years and years, never really making any progress. A lot of 2 steps forward (which were really hard) followed by 3 steps back (really really easy). Then I read a book called "I Quit Sugar" and then I gave up sugar (look at the back of packs and don't buy anything more than 3% sugar) and am only eating Whole Foods (the type of food, not the chain of stores!). I've lost 10kg in 10 weeks and it hasn't really been a chore and btw, I've done almost no exercise. I spend more time than I used to preparing food but I don't have to adhere to a diet plan or count calories (which are total BS). Forget about how many calories food has and instead look at the quality of what you're eating. Good luck with it!
