    Thanks for taking the time to make this video, the RUclips Community or at least certain parts of it still amazes me, so incredibly helpful & useful to mechanical dummies like me. Couldn't help but get a chuckle at the clucking hens, even got my wife clucking from across the room....the chickens simply add a touch of homestead reality ! Cudos - great DIY & worthwhile video sir !!

    Thanks for the video. I have a 2000 model TC40D with the leaking seal on the front left final drive assembly. It too has the tell-tale sign of oil/dirt on the inside of the wheel. I am not seeing any outward signs of bad bearings that you saw with the hub assembly canted inward at the top. I will know more when I pop the final drive plate off and take a look inside.
    Thanks again. You made the reinstallation process easy to understand.
    Best regards,

      Thanks. I actually ended up using my own video to replace the right side bearings and seals last month.

    Great info. I have the same tractor and if I ever need to tear into it your video will really help. Great reminder to check the power steering filter for me too.

      Thanks, just be ready for the sticker shock on that power steering filter. Thanks for watching.

    Never knew about the power steering canister being a filter. So obviously I have never changed it. Mine is leaking now, but its the hose coming out the bottom that is leaking (I thought) Will have to reevaluate that leak. My cap for the power steering canister says OIL, No sticker saying Power Steering Fluid. I've been topping it off with regular hydraulic oil for 20 years. Thanks for the time you spend showing your activities around your homestead.

    Well done. Good camera work and clear concise explanations. I have a NH TC33D that I bought new in 2002. Great machine. After I watch one of your vids, I go out and check my tractor to see if I have any of the symptoms you had. Keep up the good work.

    My left front is leaking like yours but on a tc45. Good info for my project coming up soon.
    By the way, before refilling your right side a good flush might have been prudent to get the “metalflake” out. Some suggest kerosene and air pressure but I’m not one to make explosives so I’ll stick with sacrificing a bit of 303 instead til it runs clean. Bottom plug in, fill it, drain it, repeat. That will do it.

    I have a question and hope you still are seeing the comments left. I am doing the same to a front end of a 2003NH TC24D. It is identical to your TC33 front end. How did you get the shaft and gears apart? I saw you snap the split rings in place, I need the reverse. I tried hitting the center of the shaft down with a mallet and socket as a driver but to no avail. I have learned not to whack things too hard lest i cause more damage than good. Your advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

    WOW!! thank you thank you thank you I have the same tractor very young hours I’m going to do preventive maintenance on my axles! so you say the power steering filter takes that same hyd fluid correct?

    • @SakimasRidgeHomestead
      @SakimasRidgeHomestead  4 года назад +1

      Yes, with the exception of engine oil, all other fluids are the same hydraulic fluid.

  • @HollisServices

    How in the world did you pull the gear off the snap rings? Is there a special tool needed or do I just pry/pull the gear?

    Hey, I have a similar problem on not quite the same model! My question is: how did you get the bearings and ring gear off of the wheel hub? Thanks! It was great seeing the reassembly and gives me hope that I can actually do this!

    • @SakimasRidgeHomestead
      @SakimasRidgeHomestead  4 года назад +1

      There is nothing holding the bearing on, I think I just gently popped it up with a couple pry bars. The ring gear is seated over the split ring that holds the hub in the housing, again popping it up should release it.

    • @brianc1969
      @brianc1969 4 года назад

      Thanks much for the quick reply! I couldn't get the bearing to budge with pry bars, and I tried pulling the gear and bearing together with a puller, but didn't put too much pressure as I wasn't certain. Unfortunately, I can't get a puller directly on the first bearing and it's the other bearing that needs replaced, along with the seal. With your video and answer, along with the parts breakdown and service manual, I'll apply more pressure... who knows, maybe it's time to break down and buy a hydraulic press!

    Have you ever done anything with the pto shaft leaking? Is there any front to back play that could cause it?

    How did you separate the steering knuckle from the hub to replace the seal that’s not shown in the video. Thank you sir.

    • @SakimasRidgeHomestead
      @SakimasRidgeHomestead  4 года назад +1

      I apologize, it has been a while since I did the work and do not remember exactly. I do know the kingpin piece on the top comes out, it has an o-ring on it. There are snap rings under the kingpin that hold the top bearing in. I seem to remember just knocking the knuckle down off the axle. If this link works it shows the parts breakdown partstore.agriculture.newholland.com/us/UnkeferEquipment/parts-search.html#epc::mr53238ar259163

    Was that 80W gear oil that went back into the front axle? Or was it just tractor hydraulic oil?

    • @SakimasRidgeHomestead
      @SakimasRidgeHomestead  4 года назад +1

      Hydraulic oil. Everything on the tractor, with the exception of the engine, calls for hydraulic oil. Thanks for watching.

      @@SakimasRidgeHomestead one other question for you. There is a red handle under the seat on the right side. Do you know what it is for? I have the same tractor as you and I don't know what that handle does. I also don't know how to apply the parking brake. Obviously I did not buy my tractor from a dealer. :)

    • @johnfowlkes6515
      @johnfowlkes6515 2 года назад

      @@zephyrsspeedshop3708 on the TC45 the red handle is on the left and is for setting parking brake........press the brake and hold then pull handle up, release brake pedals and it's set.
