I am 45 seconds into this and I love it already. Testing a mower on gravel and putting the “gas tank” lid on the measuring cup! This is gonna be great!
I USE ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL TO START MY OLD 1976 GMC TRUCK WHEN I DON'T HAVE GASOLINE AND IT WORKS JUST FINE 👍👍
Yup.before my time it was terpentine
Yeah, in order to really run alcohol effectively you have to almost double the size of the carb jet. I've wanted to do a bit of an experiment and run a 212 predator motor on isopropyl alcohol to see what it can do. Honestly my buddy said if you use alcohol and double the jet size you can make 3 more horsepower out of it but I want to test his theory
I have done this on my triple su carb Holden Torana and it ran but driving it was sluggish even with a high compression engine. But I had no idea that I should have advanced the timing? And setup the carbys to pour the alcohol in basically! Lol It was around 22 years ago tho
The engine was sputtering because the flash rate is different than gas alcohol burns faster so if you had adjusted the carburetor for more gas it would have worked fine
99% is pure alcohol. It's at my local drug store. I use it for all sorts of things when working on my motorcycle especially flushing water out of fuel lines and parts cleaning after washing in water.
Thanks for sharing with the NIA community
If you don't have 99 percent alcohol in your house, you need a new house
99% of the alcohol in my house has been drunk
@john corb 😂😂😂
Great video man. I will definitely stick with gasoline though. I barely though about this isopropyl alcohol as an intake valve cleaner?
Ill for sure try it on the intake valves
You could concentrate the isopropanol using non iodized salt to get up to around 95% pure isopropanol.
What about 70% gel solution
thank you. i will like to try the alcohol with some trimmer oil i do not if this will work. once i used an old trimmer withi notromethanol, yes RC model fuel. it worked but i think overheating destroyed the engine. yet, the tool lasted only one round but worked better than original settings. that is as far i went in the early 2000's
more experimentation will be a worthy information. the other alternative is biodiesel, but the engine needs to be modified for glow plugs like diesel engines instead a spark plug.
i hope my experience helps.
!!! My successful "variant" (see end of comment). Found ur vid after running out of gas in my riding mower midway through cutting near 1 acre yard. I thought of the movie "Lawless", and... proceeded to cautiously "refuel". **I didn't follow your example 100%, but kept close. My "3 part" mix (total combined liquid volume 1.5 Cups): (1cup) 91% Isopropyl alcohol, (1/2cup) 2-propyl alcohol, and (2 fluid oz) fuel stabilizer "Sta-Bil". ## Pros: EASY start/run of the engine & Cleaner exhaust emission & Fair run time. ## Cons: Very volatile (flash point 59 °F) & Increased throttle by 1/4%. & AFR was a little tricky w/the choke. & Higher detonation = Faster consumption rate / shorter run time. & Engine temps limit safe run time. (Long story longer, it works if careful and user discretion)
1 1/2 cup Mixture ingredients:
• 91% Isopropyl - local store
• Sta-Bil - local auto-parts store
• 2-propyl alcohol - local Electronics store (safe/not common/but cheap, use caution)
Years ago before my main channel got taken down, I put up a VIdeo of a Lawn Mower running on Everclear.
Branksome. Put some in the Tank. And it did a Great job. Even mowed grass with it.
Thing is? For Small engines? Alcohol just makes sense since it burns so clean and does not have all those additives.
For the life of me? I have no idea why this is not sold everywhere since its cheap to make and can be and has been made right here at home.
Heck, it should be less than dollar a gallon with how cheap it is to make!
Best part however is just how clean it runs
I can deal with cleaning out a Carb. Or flat or replacing a gummed up one.
What I hate is Gasoline fumes since they put all that stuff that is great for your car, but not so much if you like to walk behind a mower, week wacker, or blower.
Remember there is Percentage of OIL in Gasoline that Alcohol Is missing on it, this may Hurt the Cylinder Walls running any CLEAN Combustible Fuel.
What if it's mixed in with a little bit of acetone and add some Lucas fuel petroleum
Ever heard of alcohol burning dragsters? I know it's not isopropyl but it's the same concept.
didn't project farm already cover this?
Several people have ive use it for years but everyone adds something new
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO it does work....
Wondering if a diesel alcohol blend might work in the mower. Idea is to use the alcohol to light off a open flame no the diesel doesn't have a choice. But what gain? Fuel milage maybe? Torque HP comparison would be very interesting. I'm fairly certain it'll run it'll just take a min to figure out the mix. Alcohol burns hot would the diesel bring the temp down?
i run all my eng on shine, never a problem, and it tastes good, smells good.
moonshine?
I think moonshine would be cheaper than gasoline
@@marty64thornton at todays $$$$ it is
@@pieterwillembotha6719 yass umm
Good job :) ♡
Sounds like a flash back 1970s talk show hoist
Gotta run...Its basically what e85 is except its made from corn...I love e85...poor mans race fuel😃
That’s why 110 is so expensive.
Hey. I watched some of your videos. I would love your advice on 2 stroke engines in general. Mowers to 66cc bikes.
Ok, what can i help you with?
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO vibration and mixing fuel. Mostly fuel. I am running a shit kit for my bike. I hear oc all kknds of mix. But i live on a hill and run a chain saw basically for a engine. Salt water air too. And can i use silocone lubricant for my gear
Can i mix a silocone lubricant with greese?
Just realizing you have a lawn mower outside on top of a bunch of rocks. Hopefully the blade isn't attached.
Gasoline has more power. Alcohol runs cooler temp. 91%= 9%? Slomo of fuels is always cool. Thank you, Nate!
Yeah thank you for sharing with the NIA community
More power? How about alcohol fuel dragsters
@@bluewave7120 Those engines don't run on Isopropyl.
@@bluewave7120 Those run on pure methanol which burns hotter and is more similar to ethanol which goes in your car, (ethanol also goes in your belly) isopropanol is more similar to acetone and both dont burn as good as methanol or ethanol, mostly because any isopropanol liquid under 100% contains water which can drown your engine. Methanol is like the complete oposite of diesel, it burns way hotter and is far more explosive. Gasoline burns the hottest and if a dragster were to use standard unleaded gasoline it would probably melt itself after a few runs. Thats why they use methanol. More power and less heat. 🤙
@@nitroxylictv Much appreciated for the details. Can a 2 cycle engine run on methanol? And would it gain more power?
First off did you advance the timing or adjust the spark gap ? Did you shave the head and install bigger valves ? I run 70% all day on my modified Briggs. It loves it actually. I use a hydrofilic in line filter to collect the water in the oil from the isopropyl and a radiator setup.
what all changes do you make?
@@5150warpig too many it was intense I gave the motor away lol.
@@5150warpig you have to get lucky tbh it probably was the only briggs I had that would probably run on anything you fed it.
@@5150warpig we put diesel in it one time. Ran almost. Ran it off terpentine from michaels. Ran it with pretty much anything you can think of. And it just wouldn’t kill it idk why.
Got any videos on how to modify an engine for this?
do you mix it with 2 stoke oil if you use rubbing alcohol
The IPA may separate the oil from the gasoline and this in 2T engine means total engine failure.
do a trial of Mixing 1/2 & 1/2 alcohol & petrol
Try with methanol next?
It looks like a say 30 alcohol to 70 gas mix might be beneficial.
Yep
alcohol has a flash point about .09 which will make the motor run cooler
Thanks for sharing
99.9% can be had. It's used to clean fiber optic cabling.
If that thing had a muffler it would run a lot better!
I wouldn't think it would work with alcohol lol but who knows lol
Yeah true
BBQ ligher fluid worked for me lol
Yeah im sure it burns clean
Sweet
Yeah cool
Now fill the fuel pumps in America. Lol
As you can see... I commented on your video.
?
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO It's kinda funny because you said... as you can see... a lot.
ur mower is drunk
What about 70% rubbing alcohol? My wife just got a half skid of it and won't sell. I thought about running it in my zero turn to just get rid of it. You think that much alcohol would damage any carb seals or lines?
70% isopropyl alcohol is great sanitizer. Hands, cuts, scrapes, doorknobs. The 91% takes off Magic marker, sharpie
Hoarding rubbing alcohol. That is the reason the economy is so jacked up. People buying what they don't need just so no one else can buy it.
@@KYLE-jm6tr No hoarding! Can you read? She bought a salvage pallet and half of the pallet was rubbing alcohol. She couldn't give it away. Nobody wanted it!
70% has too much water in it
Suprised with what happened
Yes me 2
Equate and Hyper Tough are best friends at Walmart.
You could probably run it on Equate soap.
Wonder what isopropyl alcohol exhaust smells like?.
If you need some 99% I can send you some for more videos
Thanks for watching
I've used bbq
Cool did you use it in a lawnmower or a car
In a push mower cut grass with it too
Im not sure how well this one could have cut grass. Anything else like this you tried
Mine runs on Absolute 😂
Awesome
Alcohol is denser
They make 99% rubbing alcohol. That would work a lot better. It's at the drug store.
Yes i agree what can we try next?
Idle was poor with alcohol
Yes it was
Too much alcohol makes you idle and poor
Yeah try to clean intake valves
I will thanks for sharing with the NIA community
Dont try this at home
Yeah
so dispels the myth that you can not use ethanol in a small engine.
Yes may not be to safe
@@NATESINTERACTIVEAUTO the lawn mower ran using alcohol and I saw no problem. Ethanol is alcohol. Would using Ethanol clean the engine. Gas leave a film of varnish that Ethanol would brake down an clean.
Interesting what other new test can we perform?
Thanks for watching
@john vuhl no, but both are very simlar
