Dude, FBI might want to look into that guy, he absolutely just murdered Blizzard.
i dare say, this was a more painful punch to Blizzard's gut, than any they ever received from FFXIV's success. because it took nothing, but the sheer creativity of one dude. and he deserves every last bit of publicity this will get him.
This was more painful than FFXIV because FFXIV "success" was basically a trend, and numbers started going down fast in FFXIV after the "it's a wow killer" trend passed and people saw what FFXIV was really about. But this, this is a WoW player making a real point and showing how hiring people based on politics and fear of being signalled by very angry vocal communities in social media won't help on making a good story.
@@simonsalgueiro6217 not to mention how he did it and the time frame, blizzard's overpaid writing team had the most compelling characters and important locations at their disposal and 2 years. This one guy, used basically unknown characters, a location no one cares about and a month to make this.
this was such a back and forth of "this cant be real" and "holy sht, maybe it is..." just to applaud the genius ending.
I've watched this thing 4 times now, the original, Asmon, Zep and now Mikes reactions. And the bit that still makes me laugh the most is when he says, "Pissing Stone Talon Mountains"! Just cracks me up every time LoL!

My favorite part of this entire reaction is around 9:50 where Preach freaks out not at the time thing in the video, but at the terrible warrior keybinds.
The best part about the end, is someone else in the building was clearly watching the stream along with him and lost it JUST before he did.

"How to tell if a person has never played a night elf" - Stonetalon mountains was already part of my questing path.
I played a NElf back in the day and I would deliberately make my way over to Westfall and level there once I hit lv10 because I liked the human early zones way more over everyone elses.
I made the mistake of doing Stonetalon once as Alliance and avoided it for a dozen other characters. They send you there from Ashenvale but the Stonetalon quests are just way too scarce & spread out to be worth doing as Alliance. Stonetalon isn't so bad with epic mount but running it is ridiculous compared to other zones.
@@Marusinae I would do that to was a lot easier to level in the human zones.
@@Rhodair And there used to be only one Alliance graveyard in the whole zone. I think I spent more time there running back to my corpse than doing quests :(
I played Nelfs and never leveled there. I went from Darkshore to Ashenvale to Desolace. The only time I ever went there was to get the map completed when Exploration Achievements were introduced. And even that was only the very first time I leveled a character at all. Once I knew how to get to Stormwind from Darkshore, that's where I went instead.
I love it. Yea, there may be some issues with transfering this into the game as an actual story, but it's certainly true that this little murder mystery has beat their writing of the last 5 years easily.

As someone who didn't play WoW I totally bought into this all the way up until he mentioned the SoCal Lady Killer wiki page and went to look so that I could read along and didn't find one.
Personally I'd have added a line about how the deaths only trigger if you're in the zone by yourself - which would make it harder to falsify.
yeah, if it was meant to end in a mystery then he most likely would have, jus tthat story telling usually requires you to leave somethings untold so th estory wont drag on
I like how, among many other faults in the video, we all straight up believed that Krond lured a woman to a lumber mill. A city corner or a mountain range yes, but a lumber mill!?!?

For me I was stuck at the beginning of the video going 'Stonetalon Mountains... Forgettable? It's literally THE zone I think about when I think about leveling in classic.'
Saw the Asmon one but watched all of this just for Mike's reaction. Loved Chris's belly laugh echoing through as well

The biggest red flag for me the first time I saw this video was when they referred to an American town as a "village"
Villages are common in the mid west. The official documents and signs say village, and people use the words town/village interchangeably.
I think a genius park of the story telling is that he allows you to continuously call in to question everything that is happening until he can hook you in. He doesn't just assume you are invested. He puts in the work to get you invested
Preach's scream in horror during the reveal of the time of death only to point out that he was horrified by this man's hotbar is peak comedy.
You got to love it, one man made a better story in a month than a team of overpaid writers.
In the Halls of Flesh-Shaping, before you summon Durumu the Forgotten, a player can spy an unidentified blood elf female huddled under one of the beholder stones. I tried questioning blizzard about it and didn't get a response. When one investigates the 3D models for the zone she's just labled as "stone" and is linked to the statue. After the statues drop away, she vanishes along with them. It's also possible to use farsight to look outside of the walls in that zone and see the untextured cubes, so many unfinished things were left inside.
Don't mind his keybinds. I use a Naga mouse so my top abilities are 3-7 to my middle mouse button then I add alt to the entire row above so I have 24 keybinds to my thumb

Only reason Stonetalon Pass is memorable to me is the hidden path from Charred Vale to Sunrock Retreat through the mountains
I think the most memorable part about the zone was the cata rework, where they later admitted the guy who made the zone didn't properly coordinate with the rest of the crew and made garrosh way more badass and likeable than he was ever intended to be. That glimmer of hope sparked by that zone probably fueld more MoP/Horde/Garrosh discussions than any other zone of the rework.

I love Stonetalon mountains, idk why that is supposed to be the most forgettable one. Maybe for Alliance, but for Horde, it has to one of the more memorable ones. I am right, right? I always look forward to getting to this zone when I play a new character.
I love that zone too. It's one of my go-to spots for leveling in that level range (probably because I'm horde and I love pvp). For me personally, Wetlands is the most forgettable as I never go there leveling a new character. Even forgot about it until I looked at a list of Vanilla zones.
As an alliance player for most of my wow life. I did not know about stonetalon mountains until classic 2019 when I made my own horde character. I only found out this year there are shortcuts in the Sun Rock Retreat to The Charred Vale. I use to level lots of characters from vanilla - wrath as a kid but never went there ever. I knew its retail version sort of but not the original.
It's not. That's part of this story he literally said he made it all up.
I always found it rather boring. It was part of being a horde character way back when though.
The most memorable part about Stonetalon as a horde player in classic WoW, is that its a legit option to escape what is known as "The Barrens Chat", other then that ... i can't really recall anything notable from that zone.

I hate stonetalon mountains, to this day. It was the point where you left the safety of the barrens. My first toon was on a PVP server, Andoral. And i forget the guild, but they had 2 guys camping the entrance to stonetalon, to one shot anyone leaving the barrens. But worse, they not only camped you, but had 2 other dudes stationed at the graveyard. I believe me and my friends literally gave up and rerolled on a different pvp server, with less DB's on it.
That conclusion though 👍

Mentioning gameplay capture, there are already a some of these software out there like that and it doesen't even hurdles your PC that much. A few of them even makes highlight of your kills, so you don't even need to spend time cropping stuff out for a clip.

how can you remember the zone if you already forgot it
Even tho this is made up, and done rather well mind you, the scary part is somewhere out there a real dev for any number of games is a killer, and it makes you wonder what he/she' put into a game to silently brag their deed. That's the part that is truly a chiller. (At any given time in the US alone, there is reported to be anywhere from 30-55 serial killers in progress of their terrible ways... let that sink in).

Its pretty clear from the start, why would a lvl 33 be questing in a 15-18 zone and why get naked to die if not to lower your hp. Nice reaction tho Preach yes his hotbars also also sus. He has got a point tho Blizzard is extrmely lazy with its quest writing. Secret world did a much much better job on a shoe string budget.
