Heavy Spotting at Dulles (IAD) *WITH ATC*

An afternoon of heavy spotting at Washington-Dulles International Airport on an exceptionally windy day. Captured a rare KLM 747; this route is generally covered by an A330. Includes Lufthansa 747-8i and Air France Airbus A380!

I love the IAD traffic mix. It has long been a fav of mine. you got SVA and AUA too, which are favs of mine. were getting AUA and QTR next year so will match you in those areas next year. the only one missing is the SAA but I don't expect you to get it because it comes in so early. i'll get that one someday i hope when I make a trip out here.

I saw all of these planes about 15 minutes ahead of you. They fly over my house when transitioning from 7,000 to 4,000 along the hyper4 arrival. I remember a few weeks ago during the winter storm when the flew the KLM 744. I love that plane!

Nice! One of the few good places to spot Dulles. It's amazing how much the Heavies were bouncing around.

Awesome! I hope to find an excuse to fly the A380 someday. I flew KLM 767's alot when I was younger so KLM has always been my favorite airline

Awesome job I subbed. I love going spotting at dulles. My moms friend lives a couple miles away from dulles and I see planes flying over her house all the time. One plane is the ba 747. Also I will be flying out of dulles on klm tommorow and will be taking the a380 on my way back.

The route is usually operated by an A330, I'm thinking maybe it was a holiday rush so they decided to use a bigger plane? Either way it was a very pleasant surprise. I love the KLM 747

yeah I saw the Ethiopian 787 and the Emirates 777 but I couldn't get good pics because they were landing on different runways

Yeah I would love to grab the SAA 343, Emirates 777, and Ethiopian 787(!) but they all come in so early!
