The original run of Doctor Who was cancelled because the head of the BBC didn't like sci-fi. The series was very popular not only in the UK but internationally as well. So basically, the execs sabotaged ratings for the last three Doctors (pitting them up against popular soap operas, changing the formats, etc.) until ratings were bad enough that the BBC could justify cancelling it.

All of the Sci-Fi | Fantasy cancelations make me less inclined to begin watching any shows, since it seems likely they will not be finished:
    1. **Dark Angel** (2000-2002) - Created by James Cameron, this show was canceled after two seasons, leaving fans wanting more of the dystopian future.
    2. **Firefly** (2002) - Despite a passionate fan base, this space western was canceled by Fox after just one season, leaving many storylines unresolved.
    3. **Dead Like Me** (2003-2004) - Canceled after two seasons, this show about grim reapers living among us left fans wanting more, though a direct-to-DVD movie was later released.
    4. **Carnivàle** (2003-2005) - This dark fantasy series set during the Great Depression was canceled after two seasons, leaving its mythic storyline incomplete.
    5. **Tru Calling** (2003-2005) - This fantasy drama series was canceled after two seasons, leaving unresolved plotlines.
    6. **Jericho** (2006-2008) - This post-apocalyptic series was canceled after two seasons, though fan outcry led to a limited return to properly conclude the story.
    7. **Stargate Universe** (2009-2011) - The third series in the Stargate franchise, it was canceled after two seasons, ending on a significant cliffhanger.
    8. **Terra Nova** (2011) - Despite its ambitious premise and visual effects, this time-travel dinosaur series was not renewed after its first season.
    9. **Constantine** (2014-2015) - Based on the DC Comics character, this supernatural drama was canceled by NBC after one season, though the character has since appeared in other DC TV shows.
    10. **The Expanse** (2015-2022) - Originally canceled by Syfy after three seasons, Amazon Prime Video picked it up for three more seasons. Although it received a more complete ending, many fans believe there's still more story to tell from the books.
    11. **Dark Matter** (2015-2017) - This space opera, based on the comic book series of the same name, was canceled after three seasons on Syfy, leaving many story arcs unresolved.
    12. **Sense8** (2015-2018) - This Netflix series by the Wachowskis was initially canceled after two seasons, leaving many story arcs incomplete. A finale movie was later released to wrap up the series.
    13. **Colony** (2016-2018) - This sci-fi drama, set in a dystopian near-future Los Angeles under alien occupation, was canceled after three seasons, leaving many questions unanswered.
    14. **The OA** (2016-2019) - This Netflix series blended science fiction and fantasy elements and was canceled after two seasons, leaving its ambitious narrative unfinished.
    15. **Timeless** (2016-2018) - This time-travel series was actually canceled twice by NBC, once after its first season and then again after a second, fan-demanded season, concluding with a two-part finale.
    16. **Santa Clarita Diet** (2017-2019) - This horror-comedy series was canceled by Netflix after three seasons, leaving its storyline unfinished.
    17. **Altered Carbon** (2018-2020) - This cyberpunk series was canceled by Netflix after two seasons and one anime movie, leaving its rich universe unexplored.
    18. **Chilling Adventures of Sabrina** (2018-2020) - Although it reached four parts (considered two seasons by some metrics), many felt this Netflix series had more stories to tell before its cancellation.
    19. **Project Blue Book** (2019-2020) - A historical drama series about U.S. Air Force investigations into UFOs and related phenomena, aired on History channel for two seasons before being canceled.
    20. **Swamp Thing** (2019) - Despite positive reviews, this DC Universe series was canceled after just one episode had aired, with only one season produced.
    21. **The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance** (2019) - A prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson film, this critically acclaimed Netflix series was canceled after just one season.
    22. **The Society** (2019) - A mystery teen drama with a unique premise, canceled by Netflix after one season due to COVID-19 related circumstances, despite initially being renewed.
    23. **V Wars** (2019) - This Netflix horror series, featuring Ian Somerhalder and based on Jonathan Maberry's comics, was canceled after one season.
    24. **Daybreak** (2019) - This post-apocalyptic, genre-bending series was canceled by Netflix after one season.
    25. **Emerald City** (2017) - A modern reimagining of the "Wizard of Oz" tale, this series was canceled after just one season.
    26. **Marvel's Inhumans** (2017) - This Marvel series was canceled after one season due to poor reviews and low ratings, leaving its larger narrative plans unfulfilled.
    27. **Warrior Nun** (2020-2022) - Canceled after two seasons on Netflix, this series blended elements of fantasy with action and had a dedicated fanbase hoping for more.
    28. **Away** (2020) - This Netflix series, starring Hilary Swank as an astronaut leading an international crew on the first mission to Mars, was canceled after just one season.
    29. **I Am Not Okay with This** (2020) - A coming-of-age series with a supernatural twist, it was canceled by Netflix after one season, partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on production.
    30. **October Faction** (2020) - Another Netflix series based on comic books, this one dealing with monster hunters, was canceled after its first season.
    31. **Penny Dreadful: City of Angels** (2020) - A spin-off of the original "Penny Dreadful," this series combined historical fiction with supernatural elements and was canceled by Showtime after one season.
    32. **Vagrant Queen** (2020) - A space opera series based on the Vault Comics series, canceled after one season by Syfy.
    33. **Debris** (2021) - A sci-fi series on NBC about mysterious alien debris with unusual properties, canceled after one season.
    34. **Jupiter's Legacy** (2021) - Netflix's adaptation of the comic book series by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely was canceled after one season, despite being initially planned as part of a larger shared superhero universe.
    35. **The Peripheral** (2022) - A sci-fi thriller based on the novel by William Gibson, focusing on themes of technology, cyberpunk futures, and alternate realities.
These shows, among others, have been noted for their potential and unique contributions to the sci-fi and fantasy genres but were unable to continue their narrative journeys due to various reasons including viewer numbers, production costs, and strategic decisions by networks or streaming platforms.
These cancellations have often left dedicated fanbases looking for closure, resorting to fan fiction, campaigns for revival on other networks or platforms, and, in some cases, graphic novels or movies to conclude the stories.
Given the rapid pace at which the entertainment industry evolves, especially with streaming services frequently adjusting their portfolios, there may be additional cancellations or unexpected renewals. Fans of specific series should look for the most current information to get the latest status on their favorite shows.

MEGAS XLR. Cartoon Network execs hated the show (and apparently still do). Despite being perhaps CN's most beloved by fans show, the execs didn't want it. They had to greenlight it because the creators won a contest. They had plans to cancel it after the first season, despite it being a ratings goldmine, because at the time, Adult Swim was not yet a thing and the show was more for an adult audience. However, the people making the show were far enough into a second season that it had to be greenlit for a second season. After which, the execs had the show written off as a tax loss, so that it couldn't be merchandised or shown further. CN execs have constantly refused attempts to get this status reversed, and any sort of attempt at a revival. For whatever reason, they really enjoy cutting off their nose to spite their face with this one.

    Network executives are stupid.
And while I can understand canceling a show for low ratings, what I can not understand, nor forgive is ending every frigging season on a cliffhanger or some kind of twist. Every TV show is a tossup whether it will get renewed for another season. Ending every season of every show on a cliffhanger or twist ensures that the vast majority of shows will never have have an ending.
Why should I waste my time getting interested in a new show that will probably never have an ending? That's not a rhetorical question, I really want the networks to give me an answer. I wouldn't waste my time reading a book with a missing last chapter, or a movie that was never finished, so why should I bother watching a TV show that will probably never be finished?
Is this the result that networks hoped for by making cliffhanger/twist season finales mandatory? That people will stop watching new shows because they don't want to have the rug pulled out from under them again and be left hanging? Because that's the effect it's had on me. I don't bother watching any new show until I see if it's going to last.

10:09-11:26 And it's a shame for fans of this show too because I've wanted to see where the relationship with Radicles X and Enid Mettle went since in the series finale "Thank You For Watching The Show" it looked like those new teen heroes working for an adult K.O. looked like Rad and Enid's kids and got me wondering "What If Red Action went back to the future with the Hue Troop to preserve the timeline and Rad rekindled his middle school relationship with Enid again and wanted to make up for what ended their relationship in the first place as it was revealed in "Second First Date" since Rad had ended his friend status after "Radical Rescue" and express his softer side again without feeling ashamed of it to the point where he had to act all tough and all to hide the side of him before?" Now, I know Ian Jones-Quarty made an excuse about the teens in that series finale, but this is the same guy who also voiced Rad himself there. Just really think about what this theory means to me here

The real reason why Gargoyles was cancelled for stupid reasons:
    1. The popularity of the Power Rangers franchise hurt the ratings of Gargoyles 2nd Season
    2. The FCC was making strict rules of children's television and its concerns for being too violent for young children.
    3. The 3rd Season (The Goliath Chronicles) met with mixed results by fans and production changes. Many of the previous season story elements were ignored and Greg Wiseman was demoted into a consultant for the 3rd season. Because of creative issues, Wiseman quit the series and Season 3 tanked in the ratings.
    4. By the show's cancellation, a cliffhanger has never been solved

Young Justice wasn't just cancelled for low toy sales, but because the network execs were sexist and stupid. They found that it was popular among both boys and girls. Since the toys were aimed at boys, they only counted about half of their audience. In stead of introducing more female characters to the toy line or girl-centric play in it, they canceled the whole thing. They didn't want girls playing with their toys, so basically, the executives were more like 8-year-old boys than the 8-year-old boys they wanted to target.
