    I love your video, and I see some of the plants on the riverbank that you held earlier, similar to the water plants in my village, in the tropics. And we used to cook it and buy it in the market.

    That is a bueatiful little creek you are at. It reminds me of when I was like 18 years old.
    There is a spring that comes out of the ground really high in the mountains and flows about fifty or so miles, all the way to the desert floor near where I live. It is crystal clear water and has pockets of deep pools between ten and twenty feet deep all along the creek. Me and my buddies used to put mask and snorkel and dive down at night with flash lights and gloves and just pluck craw fish off the bottom and off the sides and put them in a floating basket. We would get a couple hundred in about an hour or so and they were about twice as big as the ones in this video. We would boil them up and dip the tails in butter, talk about a treat in an inhospitable desert landscape. I live in Phx. Arizona.
    Thx. for the video, I really enjoyed watching this and remembering past times.
    Thumbs up and God Bless

  • @Sablewai
    @Sablewai 6 лет назад +1

    You can only eat watercress raw at certain times of the year, its too peppery otherwise! But also that stuff looks old, it needs to be trampled down and it will come away again.

    Good vid mate. I must say those are pretty small. I find that catching them in really small creeks and streams is best. I always find a shallow spot with lots of rocks and some current. The current allows any dirt to flow away so you can see if there are any crays and quickly grab them. Caught 50 the other day in the local small creek using this method. Another good trick is to set balls of string with a peice of meat in the middle. Leave it for a while and they will get their claws stuck in it trying to grab the meat. Only problem with this is that the eels sometimes come and eat the stuck crays. Awesome vid

    • @kiwiadventuretime2047
      @kiwiadventuretime2047  7 лет назад

      Cheers for the comment mate glad you enjoyed the vid.. You make a good point with catching them in smaller creeks, I used to catch a lot of them and far bigger ones in small streams a couple of years ago but ye as it turns out the day I decided to film catching them there were only these small ones haha.. cheers again mate

    • @someonesomthing808

    • @kiwiadventuretime2047
      @kiwiadventuretime2047  7 лет назад

      Na they were pretty small we usually get way bigger ones there but was thinking maybe the season had something to do with the lack of bigger one's but can't be sure.. will go back in summer and see if it's any different, generally would be letting those ones go but they were the biggest there at the time..

    • @loooseunit
      @loooseunit 7 лет назад +2

      Yeah its the season , warmer time of year is way better . Have tried trapping them when Ive been out duck shooting - its totally hopeless .
      Nice to see the stream fenced off from stock .

  • @truckingtips_uk
    @truckingtips_uk 5 лет назад

    Well,it looks like you don't know the basics of where crayfish usually stays. Crayfish doesn't like fast moving water.Look in a calmer waters of the river.

    Are water moccasins a thing in new zealand? because the place where you were catching the crayfish seemed like a hotbed for that species of snake and it was making me so anxious

    • @kiwiadventuretime2047
      @kiwiadventuretime2047  7 лет назад +1

      Hey thankfully here in New Zealand we have no snakes or Real predators in the wild that can harm us, The only thing we have to worry about when going outdoors are the mosquito's and the odd white tail spider haha so ye we are pretty lucky over here really, hope you enjoyed the vid though.

    You can eat it raw but shouldn't. Shitty water. Roundup, tourists crapping, dairy cows crapping. .. parasites etc. Grow your own in clean source, and blanch it at least before eating cuzzie. Boiling loses a lotta good, Chur for the Moira lesson . X
