Thank you, Doc!! As a nurse, I understand many things, but recently I cared for my dad who sustained a cervical fracture, had surgery and due to subsequent paralysis of the epiglottis, was never able to swallow safely again. The doctors kept saying this is common due to irritation of the nerves in his neck and he will soon be fine. It got more complicated after that with very sketchy explanations of what could have happened and we never saw the surgeon again. My dad lived with a Peg tube for almost 6 months and passed away this past January. I’ve always wondered about the nerve involvement, just to know what happened. I believe I will now have peace and can let it go. Thanks Doc!!! And thanks to the person who asked the question about nerve regeneration!! I truly appreciate all the information you impart to us, it is positively life changing on many accounts. Take care always!! ❣️😉

Please allow me this … close to a year ago I ‘ran’ into ‘Doc’ when I was ‘surfing’ for another who was having issues with the HMO that was providing me service 🤔 … and low & behole it was ‘Doc’ 😏 … I won’t name the HMO but Doc’s issue was a different than mine but it was the same bunch HMO of SOBs who were providing me primary ‘service’ 🤨 … mine was a misdiagnose that could of been addressed much sooner and be less critical as it is now become 🥴 … I’m not surprised to hear that a physician ‘disappeared’ the scene because during this last year of my evaluations & treatments it’s very obvious that physicians are extremely cautious in what they say or clarify to a patient even though physicians’ efforts are with good intentions it’s those health corporations and bank of lawyers who are making sure their interest are guarded and developed further 😬 …. one good that came from hearing from ‘Doc’ was that I now follow ‘Doc’ and appreciate his practice, wisdom and kind soul 🤠 … enjoy the weekend ‘Doc’ 😎 … M4A 👍🏽💪🏼✌🏻

I love you your so informative. I went through heck to get a piece of glass removed from my finger. Gp couldn’t get it as he was afraid of damaging nerves etc. had to go to a hand surgeon. Nice to get info from someone like you who knows what their talking about.

Thank you for this information. I’ve had a doctor say that nerves NEVER regenerate under any circumstances. I thought that was incorrect but didn’t have enough info at the time to discuss it further. Thank you for not assuming we are all idiots just because we did not go to medical school. I don’t know much compared to you but lack of knowledge is ignorance not stupidity.

What about the nerves that control ejaculation damaged during rectal cancer surgery? Stage 3 b rectal cancer, spinctor-sparing LAR procedure. Recovered mostly from erectile dysfunction by using l-citrulline, tart cherry juice, l-arginine and pevic floor/diaphragm breathing exercises. Still cannot ejaculate after 3-4 + years

I had nerve damage when I was 10: I did a swan dive through a storm door and wound up getting about 300 stitches (face, limbs, body). The nerve damage was an 8" scar ( down to the bone) below my right elbow. It cut through nerves, and I had numbness on the right side of my hand for decades. Around my 50th birthday, I started having feelings in that area. I now have full feeling on the right side of my right hand. Is that normal?

Wow! Nerves can recover VERY slowly! Your story is not the norm, but certainly plausible. 🙌🏽
