- In this subchannel playlist, were taking a brand new pilot and embarking on a learning journey to hopefully become competent at solo/small gang PvP. In this episode, we lose our fourth frigate whilst trying to maximise the first 10 seconds of a frigate fight in a Faction Warfare complex.

Hell yeah man. Learn something every day in this game--I didn't realize you could reset your own lock like that. Explains a few fights that went south weirdly!
Same, I didn't know this! Thanks, great video!
Gank Marvin said there was great stuff going on over here. Subbed.
This is an amazing guide with so many tips I haven’t seen elsewhere. Thank you!

I would disagree with this as far as orbit.. orbit if you know you will have range control. Aaron will have range control so you would actually want to approach at first.
Sorry for the late reply. This came up elsewhere so I thought I'd address it. The orbit mechanic does the same thing as approach up until you reach default orbit range, then it begins the orbit. Eg: If your default orbit is set to 1000m and your target is 10km away, the orbit command will see your ship approach the target directly and then start orbiting when you get 1000m from the target. Many new PvPers will forget to click the orbit button if they use approach first.

Good work on the video but I can't say I agree with most of these recommendations so far. Orbiting the beacon while waiting for a fight? Orbiting the target as a means to close the distance on a blaster merlin?? Spamming target "resets the progress"???
This is all wrong I'm affraid
Sure mate, whatever you say. Sigh...
@@NewbEden If you can't take criticism then don't make videos mate...
@@Altrue Why so insecure? I've never understood content creators who dump meaningless dribble in others comments. I'm more than happy to reflect on criticism, you just haven't offered anything substantive yet. Get back to me after you've learnt the game a bit more and we can have an informed discussion about why I'm right and how these mechanics work in the context of a beginner PvP pilot in a Faction Warfare complex.
@@NewbEden I figured the initial message would be obvious enough but here it is then:
1- Orbiting while waiting on average increases warp off time and decreases approach accuracy
2- Orbiting to reach a target with small range-unbonused (merlin) alpha blasters with a prop mod on, means you'll end up outside of your weapon range, even more so when factoring into account that you'll be coming from an ongoing orbit on the beacon (see point 1) and so you'll do a nice useless curved trajectory while you miss all your shots and the enemy has time to move away.
The only good way to handle a
@@Altrue You have a lot to say for someone who doesn't know much. The video and the mechanics speak for themselves. Y'all realise this isn't the Jita undock right? If you can't understand what was presented and why then I can't help you, sorry. Maybe try watching at half speed...
EDIT: To be fair, I did offer an informed discussion. So...
1. You shouldn't be worried about warp off time in a FW plex. Use D-scan properly and your stay/run decision should be made before the enemy even shows on grid. Also, The orbit command can be issued (and sticks) as soon as the enemy shows on the overview (whilst still sliding in), allowing time to begin the approach and resolve any misalignment issues. IIRC this does not apply to align (it's been a while however).
2. Starting motionless means overcoming inertia every approach. Starting on a tight orbit removes this issue. Depending on where the enemy lands, sometimes you'll be starting at an advantage, sometimes a disadvantage. Maybe it balances out in the long run? Yes, snaked kiters are always gonna win vs a newb in an AB Merlin. It's about learning and processes, not always winning.
3. You're straight up wrong on this. Did you even watch the video? I demonstrated this a few times. The problem lies in the invulnerability timer. There is a short time after landing in the plex that your opponent is invulnerable so long as they do not move (hence the invulnerability message popping up in the video demonstration). If you are spamming lock during this period you're going to lose precious seconds vs a calm cadence that will help you know when the lock has started taken hold (ie: they are no longer invulnerable).
With all due respect, take your anger and your patronising horseshit, grab a drink and chill the fuck out. It's a fucking game :)
It's pointless. There's tww o types of fw frigate fights. Those were blingy 300 fits with implants and drugs jump on your t1 frig, either you jump one to realize its again a blinged baiter or a tanked scrammer to hold you off and 4 more ppl arrive. Completely pointless.
There he is
I didn't know about that 8-10 second invulnerability. Would you say that is is better to enter the plex last and get the first instant lock/web/shot or does the invulnerability fall off as soon as you pre activate?
Definitely better to be in the plex first and setup at your optimal range. The invul as you land drops as soon as you move or try to lock someone.
So it doesn’t drop when you, idk, smartbomb?
