- just letting the car warm up in 23 degree weather. Didn't record the cold start but it is freaking obnoxiously loud. then a little drive in my 2012 N63 BMW 550i M Sport with ARM catless downpipes, Resonator and muffler delete, X pipe, JB4 map 2
This N63 is sounding very good!
I stay in Maryland too and have a 550i with the same mods
Minus the
check engine light this looks and sounds great!
Check engine light is only on because I'm running catless downpipes. I can clear it with the tuner but it will always come back
@@lsantosbmw I was just about to ask if that was a product of the cat being removed. Love the car and sound!!
@@curtisj24 just sold it 2-3 weeks ago. I posted the final drive. It was a sad day
Absolute legend. Love your videos all the way from Australia. Can I ask for your help. I have a f10 550i 2012. Stock. I want it to sound like yours. Arms down pipes? What else? What exhaust set up? Any feedback would be insane. Thanks again.
I have a couple vids on here. ARM is a company here in the states that makes stuff for our cars. I have catless downpipes, x-pipe, no resonators or mufflers and dual twin tips
love my sleeper m550
Neighbors hate me, mechanic loves me! Lol
What size did you go with 2.75’’ or 3’’ cause I have a 2013 550i and I’m trying to figure this out and is it a 2 bolt connection or a slip fit connection?
It's all welded up from behind the downpipes to the tips. I want to say it has the factory pipes right before and after where the Resonators were. Then it's an X pipe to huge pipes leading to the tips. I think the back end might be 3"
Looks like you’ve already answered that in your description lol
What size are those tips? I noticed they fit with the factory rear diffuser.
I just told the muffler shop that I wanted staggered tips and he picked those. I never measured them. I sold it earlier this year
Sick. What brand of downpipes ?
ARM downpipes
@@lsantosbmw sweet. Thinking about getting the same. Installation process easy?
@@mike619 took two day, one a few hours and the second to button everything up. It's much easier when you have all the tools and don't need to go to autozone 3-4 times.
@@mike619 heard arms were always a pain to install, I went with vrsf downpipes
@@ernestdjr I’m looking at the ARM front facing CAI. Looks 🔥🔥🔥
what springs do you have? its a bit lowered right?
Hey. It already had the m sport spring so when I did h&r sport springs, it was barely noticeable. So I trimmed out a coil and a half off of the front h&r's and it gave me the stance I wanted lol
Did you notice much of a difference with the jb4? Worth it?
I noticed a huge difference but I'm not using it to its full potential. I just leave it on map 2. I could turn the boost up but don't want to mess stuff up. Super simple install also
i have a 550i gt 2012 its stock i cant hear the twin turbos at all in order to get the turbo sound i need downpipes and all mufflers removed?
Probably just the downpipes would do it.
@@lsantosbmw so no need for muffler or resognators delete for a loud turbo sound
Would only be a slight whistling sound. The turbos aren't that loud
Turbosmart BOV
whats with the check engine light
No cats so it throws a code. I can clear it but it eventually comes back
How did u get white cluster? Just coding?
No. It's white until I turn the headlights on, then it's amber. I never noticed that until u said something
@@lsantosbmw same as mine.. Hoped there was a way to get them white all the time
120K how’s it treating you I see one for 20k rn 90K miles well maintained thinking of grabbing
Get a 2014+ wit the N63TU engine. The original N63 is junk
@@AYO_KO they cost way more money than the 2011-2013 tho
@@lukej3266 that’s why. I really want a 550i myself but a 2011-13 is a death sentence. A 2013 with the TU motor upgrade/replacement, or just The 2014-16 LCI models are the better option. They cost more bc the maintenance is actually sustainable.
I'm selling my 2012 for 15k lmk. Inside and outside is clean and bmw did the valve stem seals 4k miles ago. I want to buy a 370z. So I'm selling my 550i xdrive
I got mine for 25k 81k miles its on 97 right now theyre good engine and quick
How do you pass inspection with no cats?
I only have to pass inspection at time of registration. So only once
Who did your exhaust
Downpipes were installed by a couple buddies. The x pipe, Resonators and muffler delete was a local shop. They also had the staggered tips I wanted
What kind of tips did you get?
Generic staggered tips that they had at the shop. I specifically asked for staggered tips
@@lsantosbmw did you notice the powerloss and around which rpm was it when it does?
@@Dat550go definitely no power loss. Turbos love less back pressure.
Are the resonators still in?
No. Nothing. Catless downpipes to exhaust tips.
Got the same car and having very bad problems with oil burning ( smokey tailpipe) just wondering if youve ran into any problems with yours im at 100k miles
the N63 engine that these uses are flawed by design, the valve seal leak, there's several videos on youtube that show that problem. Car Wizard channel show it on his channel as well.
BMW will replace your valve stem seals for free. They did it for my car. They have a lawsuit that forces them to fix this issue. Take it to BMW and if they try to charge you for it they are in big trouble. This is a mandatory replacement no ifs and buts about it.
@@viper22jc and this is for every single car regardless of millage or warranties ? I’m looking at a 2011 550i x drive right now and Ide like to just go ahead and knock out a lot of these common problems when I first get it.
@@nulla6602 yes if you have the 4.4 V8 twin turbo engine coded the N63 then you are covered under the BMW lawsuit repair
They have to replace the valve stem seals. its mandatory if it has not been done before.
to all N63 engine owners, if your valve stem seals are bad and car is burning oil then take it to BMW and they will replace the seals for free due to the big ass lawsuit they had with that issue. I had mine done for free for my 550i xdrive at 77,000 miles.
So did I. It's called a customer care package. Big lawsuit. The "SMOKE" from this vid is me turning the car on in 30 degrees weather at 7am.
@@lsantosbmw im thinking about selling mine. I was thinking about modding it but I keep seeing too many horror stories with the engine
@@viper22jc I know what you mean. I hear it's a ticking time bomb. I've had mine for 4 years exactly. I drive her hard and I take it to the drag strip. I've only had relatively small problems and regular maintenance stuff. I wish I had the n63tu instead. So much faster, tunable and more reliable
@@lsantosbmw im thinking about going back to the BMW V10 cars. I had a modded M6 2007
I called my local dealer and they said they didnt know anything about it. Does the car have to be purchased from a bmw dealer? Is it too late to get it?
What spoiler is that?
Ebay stuff. Just typed bmw f10 spoiler. It's carbon fiber
hey i’m looking to get a 550i and stay in maryland also lol
Sometimes I think about selling it because I don't drive it much, but then I look at it and fall in love with it again. I'd go for a 2014+ M Sport or M Performance xdrive.
@@lsantosbmw yeah i found a really good 2011 one but with kind of a lot of miles on it. recently just found a 2013 with 68k miles for 15k everything still looks great in the car too
@@jshifty9618 hey. I would stay away from the pre face lifted versions of the F10 (11-13). The N63 motor is notorious for oil leaks, valve cover gasket issues, and coolant system issues. Go for the LCI (that's what bmw calls their mid cycle face lifted models). 2014 up 550i have the N63tu (technical upgrade) motors, in which many of those engines issues were resolved. Plus they are Vanos (variable valve timing system) which gives it 40 more horsepower from 400 to now 440hp, and are way more tuner friendly.
@@lsantosbmw crazy what happens in 5 months, just closed for a 2016 550i little over 50k miles and comes with two year warranty from any certified dealer🥲. i def took your advice with the n63tu that was very much appreciated boss. for the sound did you just delete all the cats ? this is the sound i’m aiming for
nvm just seen your comment one w that you have done, thanks for the help boss !
Is your car lowered?
Yeah. The H&R springs and the factory M Sport springs pretty much sit the same height so I went a little ghetto and cut off a coil or a coil and a half from the top of the h&r springs
@@lsantosbmw hell yeah lol
How did you do that i must know
How did he do what
@@ernestdjr that sound
@@ludi8983 it’s catless downpipes and muffler delete mine sounds the same, I’m deleting my resonators soon
@@ernestdjr sounds good
Neighbor > obnoxious exhaust.
I agree. It's cringy
too much noise, dont like
I sold it two weeks ago, not my issue
