I’m loving the costumes this season - such an upgrade from last season! When Matt Smith was a mere 27-year-old cast as Doctor Who, the costume designers called him a “clothes horse” - he could literally put anything on and he looked absolutely amazing! I wonder if Rhaenyra perhaps made the linen undershirt for Daemon, or one of his daughters, which is why there is embroidery and smocking - I can’t imagine, as practical as he is, that Daemon would request it! I love that someone has pointed out that the embroidery on Alicent’s gowns nods to the cracks starting to show - to my memory, there has never been any embroidery like this on Alicent’s gowns before. And it ties in with her guilt about how her actions affected Helaena - a girl who devotes all her time to embroidery.
Yes, in the BTS video we see much more details and patterns in the "steel". Doesn't seem like the scene was lit in a way to highlight that, which is a shame because I was among the underwhelmed, especially after seeing the armor Gwayne and his horse wore.
I thought the grey shirt Dameon usses was his sleepwear and it matches what we have seen so far for Rhaenyra s nightwear z with that luscious velvet gown. They are queen and king now, and even apart he kept his part of the ensemble
What a surprise for no.1! I love love love the embroidery on that one. Great analysis so far and I’m loving the callbacks from S1 and from GOT in this current season. Didn’t notice the necklace use for Helaena! It is pretty sad that a lot of GOT costume analysis did kinda go nowhere so I’m hoping it’s not same for HoTD. Maybe at the end of the season, it might be fun to do an overall analysis on the embroidery symbolism if it DOES go somewhere? Thanks for the video!
Loving all the costumes so far. I love how they feel connected to both Game of Thrones and the costumes George has written in the books. The way Sansa’s book costumes are described remind me of a mix of Rhaena’s red dress with the stomacher and Alicents gowns with the long (dagged) sleeves.
"Daemon prince charming" that made me giggle! ^^ I love all the historical, mythological and literary knowledge that you bring. The embroidery on Alicent's dress really is gorgeous, it has a fairy/elvish vibe. And Mysaria looked a bit like a Jedi in this one. That horse looks fab!
Rhaena’s purple coat is my absolute favorite of the series. I love that Rhaena is parallel to Sansa and also think the purple is a nod to Sansa’s dress colors. The Tully/Lannister blue red mix works well with Velaryon Targaryen color mix.
Why is Emma D’arcy so alluring in septa garb? Thank you so much for including the photos of the septas from GoT! I’ve been meaning to look at comparison photos for a week now.
I loved Rhaenys’ head thingy! I thought she looked awesome and powerful since it reminded me of super hero-y kind of characters like She-Ra, or the Scarlet Witch.
Thank you again for this video. Love all the work and the analysis you put into them. I wish I could catch a live one of these days. I love all your choices but don´t you think the horse should´ve been no 1? LMAO joking! And I think I know that a certain male costume will be on the next top 10 for ep 4.😉
@@queenxx1690 Because he's the heir to the Iron Throne and the Targaryens are the ruling family, not the Velaryons, and he'll ascend the throne as a Targaryen.

A lot of people didn't seem to like Aegon's armor, but it looked MUCH better in the BTS video. I look forward to seeing it better tonight.

Hi L3131L I will try and find that BTS video. Thank you for sharing!
I'm so glad you mentioned the horse's barding. It was gorgeous and merited the recognition.
I loved the brooch on the Blackwood fellow! It was actually worn correctly to pin a cloak!
Hi gleann, sorry I didn't have time for that!
You cover a fascinating subject in Hollywood that is not often explored. I shall subscribe.
Thanks so much Dark King, I really appreciate it!
I love how there seems to be so much more variety of materials for costumes this season.
@cinnabartab1719 yes, absolutely! And lots of smocking and embroidery textures too.
I thought the grey shirt Dameon usses was his sleepwear and it matches what we have seen so far for Rhaenyra s nightwear z with that luscious velvet gown. They are queen and king now, and even apart he kept his part of the ensemble
I was waiting if you would mention the horses... and yes you did!! YAY
The horse armour is reallly beautiful. Did you see the cute unicorn horn on Ser Criston Cole's armour?
What a surprise for no.1! I love love love the embroidery on that one.

@@Kittiesdressedinpink yes, I would love to see the symbolism go somewhere. 😀

Hi Fluffy, thanks so much! Yes, well, the Jedi have a definite Samurai aesthetic.
@@Costume_CO Yes they have.

Oh, yes, didn't think of that! Thanks for sharing mona. :)
Really love your analysis on the customs, great work!!!
My fave custom so far is definitely baela's dragon scouting outfit.
It's really gorgeous and I love all of the tie-ins to other characters.

Yes, they look great in this costume. Thank you for commenting!
Aemond and Baela are my faves. Their clothes are so fabulous!
Thanks so much for commenting!
Thank you for another very well done video on the costumes❤❤❤
Thank you goddess!
his grace looked princely😂 nice😂

Yes, very Scarlet Witch!!

Oh, yes, of course! The nightwear rules this season.
“From his time in Old Valyria” I really doubt if Ryan Condal would even read the book 😒
Why Luce wears Targaryen consume when he is apparently Velaryon ?
Maybe because he is the son of a Targaryen queen.
And technically speaking, he is Strong, not Velaryon.
@@Costume_CO but oficially he is Velaryon but why he wears Targaryen sigil not seahorse ?
“History remembers names not blood” he will be a Targaryen king as agreed to his surname in will be replaced at his theoretical coronation
@@queenxx1690 Because he's the heir to the Iron Throne and the Targaryens are the ruling family, not the Velaryons, and he'll ascend the throne as a Targaryen.
In my opinion, the horse won this one
