Love the velvet textures they have given Rhaenyra this season. It’s a unique fabric textile that I haven’t seen before and makes the Targ outfits seem more scale like - so when embroidery is added, it gives the look a more alien or otherworldly feel.
I agree on a lot of your ranking for this ep. Fine work as always 🎉
Hi majo, I totally agree. Thank you so much for commenting.
They did a great job with Baela’s outfit mixing the dress of a Lady/tomboy fits.
@monie3558 Agreed monie! She has a really nice look in tonight's episode. Can't wait to see it in action.
That's traditional Targaryen. some clothes when Daenyrs is riding a dragon.
@@heavensartangel28 it’s different from Rhaena’s red dresses. Her’s doesn’t look practical like Baela’s so I like how they differentiated the different styles based on what physical activity everyone was doing
There’s a huge step up from S01 costumes. I’m LOVING Alicents pre-raphaelite inspired gowns this season. This is more or less how I imagined the book gowns with their long dagged sleeves. I didn’t make the connection between Rhaenyra’s gown with Fortuny but I’m glad you did! Only two episodes in and loving the costumes so far.
@PistachioDean Thanks so much for commenting Pistachio!
Baela is giving Daenarys 💅
@@commentsforthealgorithm she is!! The next one even more so.
Thank you so much for another very well done video, I didn't even realize the detail of Rhaenyra's night ware until your close ups, thank you for that!❤
@@goddess131 Thanks goddess!
I am loving this and so excited I found this account just in time for episode 3! I can't wait to binge watch your other HotD costume videos!😊
Thanks Rachelle! Enjoy tonight's episode!
I didn't have a problem with Jany Temime's designs for season 1, but I wasn't a fan of some of her fabric choices.
I think Caroline McCall is doing a great job so far this season. Love her designs and fabric choices.
I also think the aging and distressing of the costumes is better this season.
Hi Liam, thank you so much for commenting! Looking forward to seeing episode 3 tonight. :)
Thank you for mentioning Adam of Hull! I don't see any discussion re: what a hottie Adam is!! 🤭 The cut of his clothing, the way it falls and that deep turquoise-blue COLOR - 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks so much Karit!
Rhaenyra looked amazing in that nightgown. Well deserved number one spot. Silver might be her color rather than black lol! Daenerys also looked stunning in silver or light blue.
All the embroidery is so detailed and beautiful.
Helaena's and Alicent's headdresses and veils were the standout for me. Very renaissance, they looked straight out of a painting. I also really like the sleeves this season.
Baella looked so much like Danaerys! Practical and feminine.
Love the lovely blue of Alyn's costume too, a different color we don't see as much, it reminds me a bit of the Tyrell light blue in GOT.
Hi Fluffy, thank you so much for commenting. Forgot about Dany in silver and blue. Thank you so much for the reminder. ❤️
Thank you for this great video Heidi!
I totally agree with the choices.
I am aaaall in and there for the amazing embroidery of Carragher. She really does magic!
The comparison of the gambesons of Laenor and Alyn can be summarized with this: "Can I have a new gambeson?" "We have a gambeson at home". I wouldn´t be surprised if McCall just took the design of Laenor´s gambeson and tweaked it a bit. AND in comparison you also can see what several fittings until the completion and the added wear and tear to the costumes can make a huge difference.
@AysKuz Hi Aysun, thank you so much for commenting!
Is there any practical way for average joes to get outfits similar (or less finely done) to the ones on this show or from past real life ages? Ones that actually do their job of being clothing but looking snazzy too?
Loved the texture of Addam's shirt, it was a really subtle way to also make him stand out. ALso, I have to wonder. While I'm sure there were cinematic considerations, how difficult would it have been to get a blue as bright as those are with dyes of a similar era? I was curious as their mother wasn't the poorest of folks but as ship folk they're also practical so I don't see them wasting things on frills if you will.
I was absolutely drooling over everything about Baela, costume, scene, general presence. I was very sad face we didn't get more of her. there's so little time to explore all these amazing possible side dynamics.
I've always been very intrigued at how close to black Haelena's wardrobe choices always are. I always got the sense that it really shows how torn she is. Not that I'm saying they were ever trying to frame her as a potential swing/traitor... but black also being western mourning color and how with her foresight she sees that things are not as simple as one side... she's always felt stuck in t his murky place.
Love your observation about how Aegon's clothing being an attempt ot connect him to the father he's said to be anything but and at the same time a nod to his personal rejection of the whole mess.
Yet another costume co video that I’m forced to wait to watch until I get off work, the TORTURE
Ah, hope you like it!
Ohhhh just found your channel ❤
Hope you enjoy!
Another awesome video, so detailed
@CFinch360 Thanks so much Constance!
Rheynera goes to see Misaria in jail, I don’t know what costume she was in, the profile silhouette was magnificent.
@@valsptsd814 I think that was her red dress?
@@Costume_CO the silhouette stuck with me more than the color. It could have been purple, for all I know. She carries her costumes like a goddess.
The only person I ever saw do better was Brienne of fuc**ng Tarth. THAT woman carries a costume.
@@valsptsd814 She was/is a model!
I heard that Alicents necklace is meant to be the seven gods. Any thoughts on what the necklace was meant to represent?
Hi Miss, do you mean the one that she wears and takes off in her room with Ser Criston? I haven't seen a good picture of it yet, but that makes sense!
I think it symbolises her return to faith and guilt. In season 1 mid section (from when they aged up every character by 10 years) Alicent was shown to be a devotee to faith of the seven. She wore a giant necklace of the star iconography of the faith of the seven during these times. She wielded her religion as a strength and as a shield to her and her children's flaws. After season 1 with the death of Lucerys her faith was shaken as she felt guilty being convinced that indirectly it was her fault all the death and war started. She stopped associating her self with religious iconographies as it was after that she started a relationship with Sir Criston Cole. However after Prince Jahearys's death, she temporarily stopped her relationship with Criston and resumed her faith as she didn't know any other way to deal with her guilt. Because unlike Lucerys death where she only partially blamed herself (since she fully penalised Aemond for it) with Jahearys's death she felt she was directly the cause of it. Since Criston was with her instead of the prince at the time of murder.
I feel like Haelena's gown don't fit her, she has this beautiful strong shoulders but in this silhouette the dresses on her look tight and frumpy at the same time
I watched the actress in interviews and in wider more sweeping shapes she just looks better fitted. I had the same feeling in s1. I wonder if this is on purpose for her character for some reason. They made it seem like she enjoys embroidery so I would assume from there that she is invested in her own clothes
I love how a lot of the costumes for the women in team black there’s homages to Daenerys
@@ACinemafanatic me too, thanks so much for commenting!
Have they ever shown how all the cloths get made?
Hi mrs canlan, the show sometimes does behind the scenes videos.
@@Costume_CO It's mr scanlan, ok , nice
