You guys were able to see through the tears? 😅
I just thought Rhaenys was wearing that head piece to keep her hair out of her face. I could use a fancy headband like that when I'm doing my makeup in the morning! :D
@marvelgurl1012 yes, I thought that too but Aemond didn't have one.
It seems weird to me that once again, the stupid tendency in so many battles is to NOT PUT THE LEAD CHARACTERS IN HELMETS!!!! I mean, Ser Criston got his helmet. Doofus Aegon got a helmet, with the crown attached! Rhaenys needed a helmet! Aemond needed a helmet, too!
Ich denke das Raenys Tagaryen so eine art Prinzessinnen Krone trägt 😊. Ein Detail als " Königin die keine war". Liebe aber auch ihre Rüstung. Sie ist so eine bady 😊
@@Costume_CO Rhaenys character is the embodiment of “experience”. The way she fights, the added mechanisms on her dragon saddle and now this headpiece. She didn’t expect another dragon to be at Rooks rest so I just assume it’s just for her hair.
It’s in the style of Rhaenyras outfits during her Valyrian wedding ceremony. She has a very similar headpiece. Makes me think it’s a one of a kind. An antique that’s origins date back to ancient Valyria. Perhaps just a gift from her husband’s many travels. Either way, she died like a true Targaryen looking like a true Targaryen.
@@J_ads2000 I don't think her headpiece comes from old Valyria. Sure, they seem traditional for valyrian women to wear, but if you look closely, you can see antler engravings carved into it, symbolizing her baratheon lineage through her mother.
I like to think she meant to wear it in case she had won the vote during the 101 A.C council, just like Rhaenyra did during her ceremony when she was first named heir.
The hand on Simon Strong's chain is part of House Strong's sigil, I think.
Doh, yes it is.
Yep!
Absolutely loved Alys Rivers's and Simon Strong's outfits. Perfect for a dilapidated haunted castle IMO.
Indeed!
Rhaeny's headpiece seemed a bit of a call back to young Rhaenera's headpiece from her oath of fealty scene. I know there's differences in shape and materials but I feel like it ties them together as two women who could be queens.
Yes, totally.
I have theory that it's the wedding 'crown' of house Baratheon made for the Valyrian wedding of Argella Durrandon, the last Storm King's daughter, to Olys Baratheon.
Rheanys mother was a Baratheon and it would be awesome to see it appear again when they adapt Aegon's Conquest.
I really liked the shape of Rhaenys‘ headpiece, but I thought its texture clashed with the one of her armor.
They are going with armour by another designer. It can be difficult to match styles.
The armour is more modern while the headpiece match’s the costume worn by Rhaenyra at her Valyrian wedding ceremony. Rhaenys headpiece feels very “ancient Valyrian”. I think it’s a clash of modern Targaryen vs older valyrian styles.
It’s appropriate to wear as a goodbye to a Targaryen in war.
you pronouncing gombíky was the cutest thing ever :D the word literally translates to buttons, so when you said gombíky buttons I was taken aback because you basically said "buttons buttons" ahaha (I´m from Slovakia btw, similar language)
Haha, thank you! 😊
Ser Simon was very well-dressed, we need more distinguished gentlemen like him! Hadn’t noticed that Aemond’s ambush outfit was dark green - it’s beautiful. The fact that it’s so close to black, associated with Rhaenyra, reminds me of his comment to Cole about Alicent blaming him for starting a war when they had already usurped Rhaenyra’s throne. Aemond is clever, I think he sees things as they are and knows that, yes, he’s fighting for his family but is he also uncertain that it’s the right thing? I think a standout look for me was Rhaenyra’s simple, beautiful braid when she returns to Dragonstone. We rarely see her look so simply put together. Rhaenys’ riding coat is simply exquisite!
Thanks so much for commenting mellow!
The head piece for Rhaenys armor I'd be more inclined to think of it as a battle tiara. Because it just screams warrior princess and gave her a very regal look. I realize this is just my humble opinion, but there you go.
@GoddessAstrola Thanks goddess!
Thank you for this video Heidi & Justin!
I really think Daemon´s two shirts/nightgowns are the same and it is amazing! But really, I screamed when I saw Simon Strong´s attire. We finally see some rich fabrics and color on the men!
I also loved Rhaeny´s headpiece and you are right, it looks like a new interpretation of those period pieces. I like that it looks kinda different to the rest of the armor but at the same time fitting enough to the details of the rest.
I laughed when I saw young Rhaenyra in that familiar looking gown, like they said we can take something old and do it kinda better. I love it.
My honorable mention goes to Aegon - his armor looks more complete and more fitted now and still kinda wrong on him and I think that is intentional.
All in all I am really happy about the improvements in the costuming department. The fitting is better, there are more subtle details that fit the characters, the embroidery is to die for (as always) and the structures in the fabric choices are complemtenting the cuts and the embroidery and also the jewelry.
@AysKuz Hi Aysun, thank you so much for your comments. I always appreciate your insights.
Heidi, thank you for another excellent video! The end of this destroyed me, too soon to lose such an incredible character 😢
@goddess131 Thanks goddess!
Really enjoyed Rhaenys’ outfits this episode. The detailing on the lapel was nice. I thought the bead work on her French Hood (?) was interesting. I felt like it might have just been in lieu of a helmet. But the hat pins she’d need to secure it on during dragon flight must be made of Valyrian steel 😂
Hi Pistachio, thanks so much for commenting!
Simons drip is mighty impressive considering its Westeros in medieval times 😅😅😅😅
Yes, he is sharp. 😀
I would love to see all examples of embroidery in better detail. I’m certain that the deadline/pay scale pressure is immense, but it is a bit of a bucket list dream to stitch for such remarkable costumes. ❤
Hi Ruth, they will likely release some pictures after the season airs.
Please will you comment on where to get the boots that many of the characters wear. They seem to be a common style within the GOT universe. I have searched but cannot find anything similar
Hi Carole, I believe they are custom made for the show.
@@Costume_CO Thank you so much for replying x
Not HoTD related, but have you seen the Mongolian Olympic costumes? The embroidery is fantastic
@PistachioDean oh yes really lovely.
I’d love to have my own versions of Daemon’s pajamas, and Rhaenys’ dark grey outfit. ❤️
Hiya pat, thanks for commenting!
Isn'tthe palm for the order of the greenhand secret society ? the sign of house gardener?
@@hypatiakovalevskayasklodow9195 could be, not a book reader.
@@Costume_CO Oh, sorry, I didn’t know that! 🌻
Looks like it's in the HOTD Strong heraldry. 😉
I think the young Rhaenyra outfit and crown looking too big on her was on purpose. It's to show how Daemon not only will always see her as a child (yuck!), but that the burden of the crown and her inheritance was too big for her and that she was not suited for it.
Everything is so dark and dull (i miss flamboyant arts of Carragher)
@@julietillin1787 Hi Juliette, Michelle Charragher is working on the show. Do you mean Michele Clapton?
@@Costume_CO no i do mean Carragher. I know she is in. But i like less these ones. Do you remember embroidery of Qarth ? Of Cersei's pauldrons ?
Okay, gotcha! Yes, well she is following the direction of the designer. ❤️❤️
