Haha this brilliant, the Butlins I remember from my childhood holidays with my mum in the 80's. Especially the outdoor lido and the monorail crossing above it. I was 6 in 1986, went every year until my mum passed when I was 12. I'm going again in a week for the first time since with my own 2 children. Hope we get to make some happy memories xx
Still the golden age of butlins, absolutely amazing place 70s/80s, heaven on earth for kids, ...... then in the 90s it started changing in to the soulless, charmless commercial machine it us today, such a shame, I think sir Billy would frown at what his butlins has become.
hi i went to minehead butlins in the 1980s and i loved barnums showbar so many memorys for me here i used to go with my mum and dad im 49 now at the time i was 15 in 1985 when i went there and can also remember molly malones which im sure used to be the exmoor bar. do you remember dave and ralph the tigras sound who used to play in the exmoore bar and molly malones also the captains table cafe for food in the long arcade. and if so do you have any footage of them id love to see that all over again this video here was incredible the beachcomber bar as well superb also would love to see the outside fairground as i can remember going through the arcade to get to that.
