I've been collecting and painting orcs for 30 years. This is the best skin technique I've ever seen. I have been repainting my old greens kins to your tutorials. Thank you so much
I started orks almost 3 years ago and I found this video. I've used so many techniques from this and I've painted nearly 100 orks. Thanks for being awesome at what you do!
Yeeeeeeeessss. So cool to see 'This is how I did it. This is how I do it after learning more. This is how I've grown.'. Not just your painting but also your filming. Very cool. Very, very cool.
I am amazed haha, all afternoon I've followed your original and Mozrog vids on different boys for the first time and it looks so great, and this one pops up as soon as I've finished ha. Thanks for sharing them, two boys down over a hundred to go so I hope I can get quite a bit faster!
Thats some amazing timing :P Mozrog is still one of my favorite miniatures I've painted. I've got about 80 boyz painted and still have about 40 to go ha good luck. have a look at batch painting
Just wanted to say thank you Michael, the first army I picked up was CSM about 2 months ago, and your black legion painting video has provided no end of help for me. I just got into this hobby and you're one of the first faces I ran into. Keep on my brother!
Welcome to the hobby :D I'm really glad my videos have been helping you get your black legion painted. that was quite a tricky scheme to get right but it looks great when done
I know you usually only paint 40k but i would be thrilled if you painted some stromcast eternals, i just bought the spearhead boxset and i'd love to follow one of your tutorials.
Been a long time viewer (literally since your first video). I really appreciate your approach, and since the first video your production skills have always been great (and continue to improve). Thank you for putting in the time and effort to share your process with all of us, and it's exciting to see how much you have improved (in many areas) since the very beginning. Already looking forward to future videos!
I found a good ork skin online i used army painter greenskin and for a wash dark tone ink and green tone ink was some good results on my age of sagmar ork it was a practice one i used.
Hey man I wanted to say I've been watching your videos since almost the beginning when you just had a few videos and I'm super happy to see you grow. You've got such a unique painting style and your miniatures have such an interesting and saturated look to them. Keep up the good work man!
i like waaagh flesh/skarsnik green as the base for my ork skin. i mix to varying levels plus white/black/yellow depending on how i want the skin to look. i like mine having a good mix of skin colors but man have these videos been critical for me painting. literally the only reason i had the confidence to start my orks in the first place
@@TableTopReadyRUclips Its a bit of a stylistic choice. Some people start with a bit of a purple, brown or blue base when painting Orks and then build up to green to help give the impression that there's blood pumping under the skin. Orks bleed red after all, right? My process is: 1) Plaguebearer Flesh over a Corax White basecoat 2) a medium coat of Biel-tan. I don't like letting it pool in the recesses too much 3) recess shade with a 1:1 mix of Carroburg Crimson & Lahmium medium I really like the shade of Green it gives while still leaving a bit of brown/red/burgundy in the recesses. Its not for everyone though, but thats fine :)
Im now trying to learn this from you. The video is great, the only thing I struggle to understand is when is the "old tutorial part" and when is "you doing a retake on your old method on the spot".
I am new to collecting and painting Orcs and recently trying to overcome my anxiety that my work does not look as good as yours and others but then you have WAY more practice. Any chance you might do a Gazghkull tutorial anytime soon. Maybe the other Orc characters too?
I know what its like. we need to let go of those expectations or atleast understand it takes time and practice as you say. eventually we gain the confidence and it will happen without you realising it. keep pushing yourself regardless :D I have attempted a ghaz tutroail but it was a lot ha I may return to it in the future. keep painting :)
any chance that you have a video in the making for the ork big mek with shokk attack gun? its my favorite ork model and its really good for the new ork codex.
Thank you. I'm not a fan of drpper bottles. they alot messier than the pots and you end up using too much paint and to decant the paint you have to thin it down with flow imporver which actually ruins the paint. Theres a reason no one talks about dropper bottles anymore. just saying :P worse decision I ever made
@@TableTopReadyRUclips Interesting. I just started the hobby a few months ago and transfered all my paints to dropper bottles because the paint kept leaking out of the back of the lid every time I tried using the citadel pot. Maybe I'm just opening them wrong or something. I'll have to give them another shot. Thanks for the response! I just signed up for your Patreon. Love your content!
To stop the issue with the citadel pots, you just need to close the lid. It’s a habit that took me some time to pick up but I’ve had no issues after doing this ✌🏻
Your original Orks tutorials were the first 40K painting videos I ever watched, so this is a huge blast from the past for me. Awesome work! A year and a half later and I'm still not confident in making your Ork Skin mix - I really dislike paint pots, and don't know how to mix them well without wasting some excess Death Guard Green or just making a mess of the decanting process. Are there any alternative methods or colour-matched paints in bottles you could recommend?
Thank you, the only thing I can sugest is to have a look around, you may find a good match in a different paint range? you could even chose a colour that you like, you don't need to mix and the steps will still be the same. you'll get there, keep practing and trying things out :)
Really nice painting, If I paint some Orcs in the future I will use your techniques :) At the moment I am painting my Fyreslayers warcry warband the Vulkyn Flameseekers but I have no idea how the darker skin is painting, looking like a reddish/brown skin in the picture.
My personal ork skin tone is Caliban green mixxed with averland sunset snd i love it. I think the old orc video is the first one i sae from your channel
@@TableTopReadyRUclips no worries mate keep up what you’re doing because you’ve really helped me become a better painter, especially with highlighting 😁
thank you :D that is a great question. you could probably do sub assemblies for some push fits but I find that they are so random in how they fit together it becomes difficult to assmble after you've painted without ruining your hard work.
Wow, it’s very good tutorial and I gonna try it but can I replace bieltan shade and lahmian medium with ork flesh contrast and contrast medium? I guess it’s gonna be not as Matt as your variant
you can swap out the shade for a contrast, but I would use warp lightning over ork flesh. if your going to use contrast medium as well, just relise it drys quickly

Considering how many models orks players paint I wonder, whether anyone's willing to go for a scheme as time consuming as this. Besides that, great tutorial as always mate!
Thank you. I've painted over a 120 orks :P all like this ha its not so bad to be honest. Thank you :) when painting larger numbers, it can help to cut out some steps
