Yes they just love it when the thing they imagined actually comes into being. But I get very stressed when I sew to order for my kids, their lack of patience means I always feel I’m on a deadline like in project runway or something 😂
So I loved Kristen anyway, then I watched this and saw her describe her kids favourite colour as being pink, and then making her son an Elsa costume and I’m Maaaaaaad!!! I am so mad because I wish I had a mum like her. You’re a good mum. You’re an awesome quilter. I hope I get to bump into you at FOQ or something one day 🥰you beautiful beautiful human. ❤
Aw thanks so much! And don’t get me started on a rant about gender stereotyping children…I may never stop talking 😂. I am so happy my son has a mind of his own and just hoping he won’t get too influenced by the rest of the world when he starts school 🤞🏻 I’d be happy to meet you at FOQ sometime! Hoping to go again this year. Feel free to drop me a note if you are going.
Your quilts were awesome! I especially loved the one you did in tribute to your dad with all the negative space, it was awesome. I didn’t finish anything in 2023; it was a difficult year. 2024 will be better!
I love that your quilts are all very different and you are not afraid to experiment. I love watching a lot of quilting channels but you are one of the few who have directly inspired me to stop doom scrolling and start sewing. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
I love scrappy quilts - and I have been inspired by your creativity, and the way you recycle fabric from various places! I also loved seeing your children, and that you supported them in their creative adventures. I look forward to seeing all your videos in 2024!
I can't pick a favourite of the quilts you made they are all beautiful, I love your creativity. My favourite I made was my scrappy strinng quilt Christmas tree.
This video was so sweet! I loved seeing all your gorgeous quilts and the memories with them. Your son's projects were amazing haha! I love the obscure costumes kids can come up with they are always super creative :D
Thanks! My youngest son especially is a task master - I kept thinking I was finished with that Elsa dress and he kept telling me what needed to be added 😂
Aw fab! Glad you found a project you wanted to try. Just ignore the part in the video where I say I’m not using fusible and go ahead and use it anyway!
Happy New Year to you and your family. It was wonderful seeing all your quilts. I think my favorite is the one behind you and I think you would agree, anything our children create. I am Practicing FMQ and intend to make 2024 the year I FMQ a quilt. I love your attitude about your work and looking at the number of subscribers, they all agree.
I really enjoyed your trunk show! I think my favorite was the low-volume crumb quilt. The favorite quilt I made in 2023 was a little quilt made of various 4" blocks left over from other projects.
I loved all your quilts! I have been saving denim as well and plan to use it soon. Your son has a great eye! Pink is beautiful!! I want to make one like you first showed. That one stood out to me when you did your Quiltmas video. Thanks for sharing.
I challenged myself to make a quilt big enough for our queen bed. I used a lot of red scraps and made a red and white log cabin this is this year’s favorite
FABULOUS! I LOVE such quilts- I call them "the Real" sort, and very very artsy! I have begun to make quilts, cause I had SO so many scraps and fabrics about from former projects... including making Ren Faire period clothing... and fabric my mother passed down to me, and some others gave me "cause I sewed".. ha. Just made my third quilt, from all the mess of fabric I have accumulated! none of them are the "perfect" sort- all a bit "scrappy" and h so colorful, because of it
Kristen, you're so creative! I love your Overgrown quilt and also your video from the Quilt Show. I'm working on a Double Orange Peel quilt based on your idea. Instead of denim, I got a piece of Ombre fabric, and I'm appliquing the orange peels on that. I work on a few blocks in between other projects, and by the way I AM using fusible! I'm looking forward to seeing what you make in 2024.
That orange peel quilt really inspired me. I've started some chair cushion pads inspired by those blocks. I love your style. I wish I had your patience for tiny pieces and epp.
Loved your trunk show Kristen and good to see what you achieved through out 2023. Made a quilt out of denim and yes they are very heavy. I had input from my hubby saying I should add another row hence why my quilt is so heavy. You know men more is better😂.
Just beautiful. I will have to follow you more closely this year. My favourites were small wall hanging made for guild challenges, one an art quilt and one a Christmas table topper. But I also made a flying geese laid out in rainbow colours that need it’s quilting finished, I use a domestic older Janome. I want to make a low volume scrappy/ crumb after seeing yours. Sue from Ontario Canada
Challenges are great for focusing the mind aren’t they! Your flying geese quilt sounds fab too - I love that block especially when there are lots of them together. Hope you enjoy your low volume quilt when you get to it!
What a great review! I enjoyed making my version of your second quilt-along! I sent it to Enterprise, NWT, for someone there as they rebuild follwing the forest tires.
Happy New Year Kristin to you and your family. I love that you let your kids design their own quilts, especially the pink one. I didn't do as much in 2023 as I had hoped. But my daughter and I made a beautiful "Stars in the Crown" quilt for my sister's wedding gift. But I think my favorite will be my completely scrappy rail fence quilt. It covers my CA King bed. I'm waiting (not patiently since July) for my daughter to finish long-arming it.
Happy New Year! Love your channel and your focus on recycling fabric. I especially love your use of denim. Wondering if you use stretch denim and if you stabilize it in some way? Most of the scrap denim I have is stretchy and I have been reluctant to use it. All the best. Cheers.
Yes mostly the denim I use has a little stretch and I don’t use any interfacing on it. However I do find it easier to work with if I do quilt as you go. Especially block by block like my denim and scraps quilt (the one from a year or so back that looks like coloured diamonds on the denim). When I try to quilt denim on the long arm I tend to get stretch issues.
My favorite quilt from 2023 has to be the Christmas crummy rag quilt I made for my nephew. It was quilt cotton crumb peices and upcycled jeans. I have short sharing video: ruclips.net/video/ogD5O8eDBFU/видео.htmlsi=YEdZ1hDtEquh4M4s I just love that your favorite fabric is old jeans. It is my favorite too.
There is no rule that you have to do a lot of sewing. If your job is stressful maybe something you can dip in an out of for 5 minutes when you feel like it for a bit of stress relief would be good? Whatever you do I hope you have fun with it!
I made a “Vintage Wonky Dresden Plate with 9 Rare Tula Pink Cameos” in 16” blocks sashed and bordered with Tula’s citrine mineral fabric with a double / flanged border and backed with the teal & citrine ‘marble’ 108” wide backing. It was a beast to piece, as the ‘rescued / precut shapes were asymmetrical and wonky, but weird and cool… it turned out great 🤩I have pics on my instagram, FB and a video ‘Quilt Story’ on RUclips- Monica Pharo ❤
What was your favorite quilt that you made in 2023?
My favourite quilt for 2023 was a house block quilt made with all different coloured scraps with black and white roofs.
Sounds super fun!
I love it when my grandkids design with me. It is sometimes hard to let them go with their ideas, but so worth it. Thanks for sharing.
Yes they just love it when the thing they imagined actually comes into being. But I get very stressed when I sew to order for my kids, their lack of patience means I always feel I’m on a deadline like in project runway or something 😂
My favourite is double orange peel on the denim just need more jeans thanks loverly work Kristen
Thanks! That’s one of my favourites too.

@NolaTheAlamoChiliQueen thanks Nola! Sorry you’ve had a rough year. I hope you get some time to enjoy your sewing this year! Sending best wishes!
OF all the quilters I follow on RUclips, you are hands down my favorite and most inspiring! Thank you for being here!
Thanks so much - what a lovely thing to say! You have made my day 💕
All your quilts are beautiful! Kudos to you for helping kiddos make quilts the way THEY want them, that’s not easy to do! Way to go mom!💚❤️💕
Thanks! Yes it can be a challenge to let them lead 😂
I love that your quilts are all very different and you are not afraid to experiment. I love watching a lot of quilting channels but you are one of the few who have directly inspired me to stop doom scrolling and start sewing. Thanks so much for the inspiration.
Aw thanks so much! That means a lot! So happy to have been a small part of getting you sewing! 💕
I love scrappy quilts - and I have been inspired by your creativity, and the way you recycle fabric from various places! I also loved seeing your children, and that you supported them in their creative adventures.
I look forward to seeing all your videos in 2024!

I like your use of denim.
Thanks!
Love all your scrappy adventures and how creative you are!
Thanks so much!
Love, love, love Overgrown!!! Also love that your little got involved in making his special quilt, right down to shapes!
Thanks so much!! He always gets very particular about his projects 😂
@ScrapFabricLove love it!! He knows what he wants so that is awesome in my book!
So good idea to make memory quilt of quilts that you make for others! Thanks for the idea!
Glad you liked it!
I loved all your quilts but the low volume one really caught my eye!
Thanks!
Your talent & thought patterns are superior & make me happy!!!!
Aw thanks! So sweet of you!
I have so loved seeing all you have made...still love them all. The Low Volume is probably my favorite, but I really do love them all.
Thanks so much! Very kind of you!
The all pink and black quilt is my favorite. Beautiful work

Wow, amazing year of creativity!
Thanks so much 💕
Very nice! 💞 Thank you for sharing. ⛄❄⛄😊
Thanks for watching!
Yes this was really fun to see. So many beautiful quilts! You got a lot done!
Thanks so much!
I can't pick a favourite of the quilts you made they are all beautiful, I love your creativity. My favourite I made was my scrappy strinng quilt Christmas tree.
Fab! Sounds cool. I still need to make a Christmas quilt that I actually keep for us.
Your quilts are beautiful! Your son is adorable and looks much like my youngest son who is now 44.
Thanks! Youngest son just turned 5 - hard to imagine him at 44!
This video was so sweet! I loved seeing all your gorgeous quilts and the memories with them. Your son's projects were amazing haha! I love the obscure costumes kids can come up with they are always super creative :D

What a nice quilt on your background.
Thanks so much!
I loved your quilts, they really inspired me. I'm going to make the colorful leaf quilt with the blue backing. ❤
Aw fab! Glad you found a project you wanted to try. Just ignore the part in the video where I say I’m not using fusible and go ahead and use it anyway!

Kristen is a very talented maker! I love watching her share her creations. Love her tutorials 😊

I really enjoyed your trunk show! I think my favorite was the low-volume crumb quilt. The favorite quilt I made in 2023 was a little quilt made of various 4" blocks left over from other projects.

Love all this scrappiness ❤❤❤ … my fab is the scrappy heart made of scraps, denim & shirts
Thanks so much!

I love a heavy quilt myself…other than when I’m pushing it through the machine of course 😂
Happy new year from Cambridgeshire UK. I love seeing your inspirational use of scraps. It’s lovely to see how much your style has developed over time.
Thanks so much! Happy New Year to you too!
Great job on all of the quilts ❤your creativity

I love your style so much 🫶🏻

Thanks so much!
2 tops one a log cabin in jelly rolls black and grays and a large heart pattern in red jelly roll with white background
They both sound lovely!
very very creative! love it!
Thanks!
Well done Kirsten you achieved many wonderful quilts throughout the year. I love the way you just go with it, very liberating.
Thanks so much!
Those sounds like some good projects you’ve managed to get to - a wedding quilt is always special. Thanks so much for watching my little trunk show!

I just love that your favorite fabric is old jeans. It is my favorite too.
Just watched it - looks super cozy and comfy - I love the feel of a denim quilt. I’m sure that backing will be fab to snuggle under. Great job!
@@ScrapFabricLove thanks
I did not feel like sewing as much in 2022. My job was too demanding. It is still demanding, but I hope to do better.
There is no rule that you have to do a lot of sewing. If your job is stressful maybe something you can dip in an out of for 5 minutes when you feel like it for a bit of stress relief would be good? Whatever you do I hope you have fun with it!

I just posted 3 (unedited) very amateur videos as a test into the RUclips world
