    I love your enthusiasm for boats. If I didn’t live in UK and wanted to buy a boat, you would be the man I went to….Great video.

      Wow thanks for that! It's not hard to stay interested when i get to play with so many cool boats. That Nimbus was awesome!

      Thankyou i appreciate the feedback! Are you also from Europe? It seems everyone in Europe wants to know the fuel consumption where as we don't talk about fuel so much in Sydney? I will try to remember to mention this more as a few people have asked me now

    • @Aegean-Light

      @@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Thank you Dan! Yes I am from Europe, living between Norway and Greece.. I have lived in Sydney for some years and understand that fuel price is not as important. Australia prices are roughly half the prices here in Europe.. But for serious high mileage boaters that these boats are addressed to consumption is a consideration. 1.5 lt/mile vs 3.5 lt/mile can be 3-4K vs 8-9K annual fuel costs which is a considerable % of boat price.

    Dan, I'm here (plus the walk-thru) for a second look as you are *describing* the kind of *feel* and capability I want. We do a lot of easy going, beach and protected waters boating here in SW Florida....but I'm also looking for a boat that feels suitable crossing 50 miles of Gulf Stream to Bimini or even crossing Florida Bay to the Florida Keys, in both cases where the seaway can change over a day or two. It's that weight, I think, which gives that somewhat sturdier, solid ride. Great reviews!

      G'day Jack! So I would absolutely do a 50m hop on the Nimbus without a worry. But have you considered the C9 so you have more weather protection?

    • @jacktyler7599
      @jacktyler7599 Год назад

      @@BoatLife_DansBoatLife Thanks, Dan....and yes, both the C9 and even the C8 (both hard to source) would work nicely. Even the W9 with some clears in our benign climate would probably be just fine. Sourcing and pricing both seem to be the obstacles in our (US) market.

    Great videos as always Dan!
    Looking to buy an 8 meter open type hard top boat and Nimbus T8 and Axopar 28 are 2 of the boats I am looking into. Saw them both at Dusseldorf boat show, both of good quality but Nimbus had a more luxurious and better built and finish feeling. Also saw Saxdor 270 but although the boat is probably the better looking of the three, the use of space, fit and finish and use of cheap accessories is WAY below the other two.
    So, from Nimbus and Axopar which would you prefer to use for a day boat, hanging out for a swim with friends and maybe overnight some times? How is handling in comparison?

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Год назад +6

      Thanks! So full disclosure I have not test driven the Nimbus T8 I have only tested the T9, T11, W9 and other models. I have inspected the T8 at Cannes boat show and based on my other tests I can give you an educated guess.
      It's difficult to make precise recommendations when I don't know your circumstances or waterways you intend to use but in general. Axopar 28 and Saxdor 270 are equally exciting and enjoyable to drive and the average boater will not notice much difference between the two.
      Axopar is the most established brand in the sector so will have advantages of being the most mature product and it is a fantastic hull to drive (I sold Axopar's in Australia for 5yrs and have 100's of hrs on them). As you say it appears Saxdor still have to get through some growing pains which was exactly the same with Axopar in the early days as I was regularly attending to warranty issues. I have visited the Saxdor factor and my money is on them growing to become one of the top builders in the Adventure Boat space because they are sexy and exciting to drive. But yes they will need to resolve issues along the way like every new factory.
      If your primary goal is to have the most exciting drive you should choose the Axopar. Their hull is reliably awesome to drive and you will always appreciate the experience. If you are looking for a well rounded boat that will do everything the Axopar will do but is built to a higher quality standard than buy the Nimbus. If you plan on keeping the boat for longer than 2yrs then the Nimbus may also be a better choice for you. For example here in Australia the Axopar gelcoat will fade with the sun after 12 months and the Nimbus gelcoat lasts longer.
      So there is no exact recommendation as they all have their own pro's and con's and in 90% of scenarios I can imagine I think most people would be very happy with either an Axopar or a Nimbus.
      If it was my money I would personally buy the Nimbus C8 because i'd love a small cabin boat to use a filming boat and I think that C8 is a great size for it. But that's just me. Enjoy!

    Is the Nimbus T9 equally seaworthy to Axopar 28? The T9 classification is C which means it should be mainly driven inshore.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Год назад

      Absolutely, I would be comfortable in all the same sea conditions in a T9 and the build quality is better than an Axopar. I was an Axopar salesman for 5 years and have 100's of hrs driving them and when I compare to the Nimbus I would be comfortable on both Axopar or Nimbus in big seas as they are both excellent hulls. It's worth checking (I have not) but it may just be the height of the gunnels which tips the Axopar from category C to B.

    What is you opinion in regards of quality of materials, fit and finish and overall durability of the interior when compared to an Axopar 28 and an XO DFNDR9, thank you.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  2 года назад +4

      Easy:
      Nimbus - 1
      XO DFNDR 9 - 2
      Axopar 28 - 3
      I have tested all of the above and also sell used models on my brokerage so i see how they hold up after a few years.
      You also need to remember the net cost of ownership too. In this category the Axopar would likely be No. 1 because they have the brand name and attract the highest price meaning a lot of Axopar owners can exit at the same price they bought the boat for.
      This is not yet the case for Nimbus or XO so if you are someone who changes your boat every summer you should also consider this. I believe in time XO and Nimbus will catch up but at the moment Axopar still has the best resale in this category.

    Excellent review. Looks like a pretty mild sea state - any sense of how this hull performs in a confused sea with 1 to 1.5 meter waves with short period?

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Год назад +1

      This boat will perform very will in a confused sea state. The drone footage on this boat was actually before the wind and sea kicked up so we were running down waves of a similar height and a few steep ones. But overall this is a hull design and style of boat i'd be happy to run offshore.

I do want to improve my audio so will spend more time on this over the summer. Cheers

    Hi Dan,
    Love your video’s.
    Live in UK and looking at Nimbus T9 and Saxdor 320GTO or GTC.
    Differences between the boats?
    Appreciate your thoughts.
    Kind regards, Jeremy

      Both are excellent boats so if you're looking for something for next summer i'd recommend inspecting both. Plenty of differences between the two but without knowing your situation it's hard to make recommendations. Both Nimbus and Saxdor are in my top 10 for best boats right now.
