Diluc premiered as arguably the strongest character in Genshin Impact's initial roster. Over the past two years, his status has declined considerably in favor of not just other Pyro units but other characters in general. Today we're gonna talk about why that's the case in Why NO ONE Plays: Diluc.

I only got him this time after losing all 50/50 on my C2 Raiden, I am a 4 month old Genshin player. I don't know if I ever gonna be using him or not, my resources are depleted and my wanderer is still level 40, and I plan to pull for Dehya, who will probably make him completely useless, we will see.
Bros on the grind
Multipliers and numbers aside, I feel Genshin did a really good job with his kit, whenever I use his moves I really feel the impact of hitting enemies which is really satisfying. He's not a bad character in many means, he's just got shadowed by better options. Also I think it's an honor for Diluc because whenever a new damage dealing character shows up everyone compares him to Diluc. That's how good he was at the game's initial release.
I would disagree about a good kit. Parts of his kit are good individually but as a whole his kit lacks synergy in between the parts themselves. His kit lacks cohesiveness.

@almightynoob1631 No no. I think you got my perspective wrong. Yeah he's really bad when it comes to rotation spam and synergy with other characters but that's not my point. My point was that his kit is straightforward and easy to understand and if you have ever played him you might feel the impact of hitting the mobs in OW. His kit is comfortable for ME and maybe some others.
Is his kit flexible? ❌️

The more I listen to you talking about his kit the more I thought that this was REALLY good character design.
One man army literally describes Diluc's personality. He works on his own. Lore wise? Extremely accurate

Hutao beats Diluc ingame. Lore unequal to game. Hutao never fought extreme threat like Abyss Order. Diluc killed Monster wielding Elemental and Fatui invasion, Hutao scared Fatui let them ran away spooky

That was like 1.0... When Klee came out, she already powercrept Diluc, just not to a noticeable degree. Then Hu Tao came out, there was no reason to use Diluc anymore if you had Hu Tao. And then people discovered Xiangling and how strong National/International is and there literally no reason to use Diluc since Xiangling is a 4* free Pyro unit.
Comes to mind those youtubers who spend thousands of dollars just to get him and then dropped the game

I really wish Hoyo would make a way to get 5* permanent banner characters through something like the Epitome Invocation - pick one legacy 5* from the permanent banner and then achieve some objectives to get them. They're the only characters in the game you can't get with any certainty. Every other 5* comes with a banner and the reruns periodically.
Would it be so bad to let us pull for a legacy 5*? I'll likely never get Tighnari or Diluc with the current system, and it's a shame because they're both great and there is literally no way to get them except to be lucky.

I got him VERY late. literally at AR 56. So I wasn't a part of the people that loved him so much back in 1.0
Nonetheless I built him, took him to 90 and gave him wolf's gravestone and honestly he's fun. Not the best DPS in the world but he gets the job done for a global release 5 star.
I didn't have him until very recently when he spooked on Nahida's banner.
Why would you waste your resources on such a garbage character? WGS is a trash weapon for a trash class of characters. Literally all claymore users are garbage, and Diluc is the worst of them all. Yes he is worse than Xinyan.

As someone who has him as their favorite character since the first scene he showed up, Diluc is the only character that made me use money in this game (a.k.a. his skin). I don’t care if he’s not meta anymore, I don’t care if I have Ayaka and Xiao as options. I just love him and I’ll storm Celestia with him!
(Also, for pyro dps, he 100% has my favorite playstyle)

Yeah not sure why that was phrased like that. The game released on September 28, 2020, so it's only just over 2 years and 3 months old. Skins weren't added until the first Golden Apple Archipelago arc with Jean and Barbara getting the first skins, and that was version 1.6 in June 2021, so still only 1.5 years ago.
i was hoping someone would note this, i felt crazy, because i was certain that i bought the skin on its release.
I think the sentence "that was over 2 years ago" was a carry on of the point "as part of the initial lineup" when you listen to the video from the beginning. But yeah, the way he dovetailed into that sentence right after the comment about the 5 star skin made it sound like THAT'S what he was referring to.
Plus…Jean got her skin before that, and so did Keqing

Diluc is designed to perfection. Only his pyro infused ICD and scaling is his downfall.
His E cooldown is literally perfected to 3 attack in between. If you attack 3 times after each E, you will have his cooldown back again after the last 3 attack. So beautifully synergized.
Add a Infused 5 Sacrificial Claymore with more than 70% chance to reset cooldown on his skill, my eyes melted when i saw the damage done
As an early player I remember everyone and their mothers had diluc as their mains, him being on your account basically meant you have turned on the easy mode for genshin. Oh how the mighty have fallen.
Having Venti was the easiest mode

Diluc Main here, since 1.0. I don't care how other dps do more damage than him. I find him extremely fun to play and he trounces everyone no problem. HHYV should give him a rework so he could keep up with the powercreep.
i've been playing diluc since 1.0 too and i hope dehya's weapon would be good on him.. i read it's a 608 atk + 33.1 crit rate.. passive is unkown - hopefully it synergizes with diluc's kit like EM buff or additional crit damage..
They power creept ma boi by 2 other pyro hypercarry and its sad as a diluc main
Fellow diluc main since 1.0 🤝 have been consistently 36* abyss with him and now he's even more fun to play with melt

As a Diluc main, I’m crying at all the comments on this video. Im used to ppl saying super negative things about him and his character so much that I’ve dropped most social medias to avoid seeing those things, so reading all these wholesome comments under your video is like a real breath of fresh air. You should be proud of the community u built here.
as a fellow diluc main, i honestly dont pay attention to what ever they say, im the one playing, this is my world and my account so anyone who hates my main can cry about it in their dark corner, ill keep being a diluc main to the point i die.
Diluc is from Mondstadt and is the residence Batman. That's an automatic like in my book. Never got him. They love giving me Mona c2 and QiQi.

One point, Keqing’s infusion still exists after switching out but you wouldn’t now since it’s really short.
You can also just throw Keqing's E-wedge once, switch to a support character doing his things, trade back to Keqing before the E resets and then teleport Keqing for the Electro unfusion.
Since the E coodown is skipped in this way, you have twice the infusion time with Keqing.
The same works with E->Q->E.
Basically, if you know how to play Keqing, you can have your electro infusion almost permanently.
with 4x Thundering Fury it is even 100%.
Keqing also keeps her Infusion by changing characters, but it really doesn't make sense to do that
And that’s why that fat and ugly pig is one of the worst units in the game. She and Diluc are literally worse than Qiqi, Xinyan, and Barbara.

"Itto loses his infusion when you swap him out! He's bad!" Why are you swapping him out? He is infused, you need to USE the infusion, people need to stop claiming characters are bad because they don't know how to play them.
Keeping infusion is cool, but realistically, even someone like Diluc should not be swapped out while infusion is up. That's just not how the character works. If you "need" to swap him off to get your supports' buffs up, you're playing wrong. Point blank.

I got him very late despite playing for two years (in September 2022) and doesn't matter if he's weaker than other main DPS, I'm using him because I simply like his character. Yes, I have other main DPS who I enjoy a lot, like Itto, Xiao, Ayato, but there's something comforting when you have Diluc on your team. Can't say the same about Keqing tho, she never felt good to play to me. And she's C2...
He's simple and flashy, his voice is soothing and design is pretty, has just enough power to kill enemies fast but not enough to make fights boring and way too easy (at World lvl 8 the game feels like a joke with my crowned "better" 5 stars tbh). And we have so many godtier supports now (Yelan, Kazuha, Shogun, etc) that even B tier units can be a beast.
He's well-loved and well-designed character, no matter how many newer and more powerful units Hoyo will release, there will always be a place on my teams for him.
my dilic erases my lvl 8 overworld too but yeah, his rythm of his E just makes feeling chunking enemies out a couple of times rather than blowing them up in 2 .5 second hits makes him satisfying to play.
Maybe they should buff world level and player level
@@escapetherace1943 totally agree, by the time we get to Snezhnaya they need to either make the enemies harder or just increase the world level. We have so many strong characters now, that the only challenge left is the Abyss.
Totally agree, I also got diluc for the first time last year, and while so far I've only used him on my friendship team, I've always loved the feel of using his E in quick succession, meanwhile my keqing is c2 or 3 at this point and I don't use her
That’s cap. I swear Diluc simps have no brain just like the Ayato, Cyno, and Yoimiya simps. Why would you like one of the worst characters in the game? You’re better off building and maining Qiqi. At least Qiqi can heal. Diluc does nothing but steal the best supports away from worthy characters like Hu Tao and Xiangling.
I only got diluc last month but I’ve wanted him for forever. I personally don’t like claymores in general (other than ittos play style and I love ushi) I prefer the more fast paced play style but I still built him and I love him even if it’s just for over world/friendship team. He’s level 80 but I want to ascend him one last time because he deserves it and his voice line for his final ascension is so sweet. I agree he’s very comforting to have on a team idk why
And on the other side there’s keqing. Her play style is right up my alley but I don’t like her. I don’t like how rude she is ti zhongli 😅
I first got her loosing my 50/50 on raidens first banner so immediately I was bitter. I finally got raiden and built her and meanwhile every 50/50 I lost was keqing 3 more times. C4 keqing but she’s level 1 dull blade forever. Everyone hates qiqi for that reason while im over here wanting her and only get keqing
my diluc may do suboptimal damage but you'll only take him away from me the day i lie six feet under, he is comfortable, easy, and just so freaking fun to play, i also feel attached to his character because mondstadt is a very memorable story line and a good introduction to the world that makes an impact on you and makes you interested on finding out more about it, so i have a special place in my heart for the mondstadt archon quest characters
He was my first 5 star. I don't care how many more pyro dps characters mihoyo adds, I'll continue to use him until I quit the game.
People honestly treat Diluc unfairly. Every character is either "the best in the game" or "absolute D tier dogshit" when it comes to Genshin players. Diluc can be competitive with other DPS if you invest in him. He can clear all the content in the game and is easy and fun to play. Even as a metaslave with Nahida, C2 Ayaka, and C2 Raiden, I still play Diluc regularly out of my love for Hypercarries. If you have him and are interested, the community does underrate him. Try him out. It won't feel like a new game to you like Kazuha or Raiden will, but you won't be disappointed either.
You’re kinda right in a way… for a Diluc to perform as well as an average Yoimiya or Hu Tao he would need significantly more investment, and if you like a character enough, of course you would invest a lot in them.
It's not just Diluc, it's most characters tbh. People claimed Kuki was trash when she launched. She wasn't. Her and Diluc HARD CARRIED me in the abyss for a while. People claim Candace is garbage yet she buffs more than Jin against grouped enemies.
This fandom is so black and white. it's either "this character breaks the game" or "don't bother pulling this trash" there's never any room for "this character does the job pretty well"
For real. I swear every time I dip in on videos to check out new character kits and see how a character is gonna be like the comments are always saying “they’re so trash. Garbage Dps. Hard skip.” Like? Bruh. There’s literally no end game. What difference does it make if character does 200k damage vs 80k damage but you both 36 star abyss. Same shit. Just play whatever you want or find the most fun.

cause they're meta players and want big numbers. Let's face it, the game is easy(even abyss the supposedly "hardest content" in the game is easy), people keep saying there are no shit characters in genshin if you invest in them well enough but that's just the thing, they are always gonna be overshadowed by better characters. Like some in the comments said, a hyper invested diluc could perform as well as, and if not more than, an average hutao or yoimiya, BUT a hyper invested diluc would never be able to catch up to a hyper invested hutao/yoimiya, they just have higher scaling. People just want big numbers, and they'd rather have it without having to invest too much time into one character. The players only want to actually put time in to characters they want to build and most of those characters are part of the meta.
I had always wanted Diluc since the game came out and only JUST got him November of last year (even though i had a r2 WGS already). I don't regret it and actively play him. Him and Hutao are my pyro carries. Theyre just gonna have to get along. They coexist in perfect harmony under my account 😭😭😭
The funny thing is, you can even play them both in abyss, so they're not even competition teamwise, hu Tao double hydro and diluc melt with anemo and bennett are legitimate team comps
Diluc will always be my main no matter. He was the one who got me into genshin in the first place lol. I got him last year around my birthday which was perfect. No matter what people say diluc will always be in my rain roster. Alongside zhongli and Raiden and now al Haitham

I'm using Diluc, Nahida, Barbara and Kazuha team rn. After losing 5050 on Wanderer's banner I was happy because i got Diluc. His Burst animation is sick af + Huge damage and more. Tbh, he really is a good character

@@Sakuta3220 I didn't had good hydro character😂 barbruh and kuki was rotting till I got nahida. I needed blooms, so I used Barbara. Now I have childe and xinqiu. But I still use Barbara now cz I suck and I need heals too. It's childe, barbruh, kuki, nahida hyperbloom. Childe barbruh shares rotation.
@@Sakuta3220 and yes I do get frozen but if there's a enemy which can freeze me, then kuki comes as backup. I won't have my barbruh on field.
It should be “Why many people still play Diluc in the overworld.” I played him from early AR until now at AR60. He’s the fastest & most fun to use claymore DPS, but he has competition with Itto who I just got last banner. I don’t use him for spiral abyss floor 12, maybe when I get his C6 (I have C5 now 😅).
Meanwhile me who still plays him in both overworld and abyss 😅

Lol no duh he’s your “best” main. Constellation’s automatically make anything you say about how good a character is invalid. Hu Tao can clear faster than your C5 Diluc, and she’s more worth the pulls.

Diluc was one of the reasons I started playing and I was lucky enough that he was the first 5 star that came in the normal banner!!! I was having a hard time and stressed out but that alone made my week and smile when I thought of it 😭
I didn't level up any pyro characters bcs I was waiting for him and he rl came!!
I'm someone that doesn't rl care about meta I just use and pull for the characters I like, I'm a kaeya main and I believe that any character you love if you take your time and build it will be good and you will have fun in the game even if the character doesn't one shot bosses, I've been quite unlucky with my diluc artifacts but he still carries and for me his playstyle is fun, he's also rl good for spyral abyss especially with floors with lots of spread out enemies, even if I have kazuha if I need him on the other floor I just use dilucs burst to knock all the enemies into one corner and it becomes more easy!
edit: I kinda went ham on the weapon banner and now he's got his best weapon and also has decent artifacts and is officially my most consistent dps!
considering diluc has a passive that somewhat strengthens his charged attack, and the fact it actually hits quite a bit harder than you might think, I wonder how good a character that's literally the same but electro/dendro would be, seems like very easy aggravate/spread spam
Diluc's plunging attack also has a crazy multiplier. Iirc, it's literally the highest in the game. Unless Cyno, Nilou, or someone else afterwards dethroned him...
I still need Venti to do Diluc's meme plunge build. We got the set that increases plunge by 40% now LOL

@@jadecoolness101 You don't need Venti to do plunge attacks for him. Most tall claymores user can get plunge attacks off just by dash-jumping while in hitstun, it's called "dragonstrike". There's a few videos on it and it's not that hard to do consistently once you get the hang of it.

Unlike footstooling, which using the enemies hitbox, dragonstrike uses hitlag which is constant (unless you're hitting a shielded enemy, in which case there will be more hitlag, but that doesn't matter since only less hitlag will make it impossible).

A Diluc main since launch, still a Diluc main to this day. His bad numbers lies at the crux of the issue, simply because as you've said, he doesn't offer much beyond damage, though should be noted it is still competitive enough for the purposes of Spiral Abyss, even for Floor 12 (believe me, against my better judgement, I cleared this cycle over 10 times with different teams each because clearly the Wolflord + Rifthounds Combo aren't obnoxious at all). One of his other weakness is his lack of a personalized weapon; even though Gravestone is obviously meant for him visually, the actual effects aren't specialized in helping him reach those numbers that were already not that high to begin with. One thing I will say is that he's arguably the best on-field Burgeon trigger, since his wide swings on Pyro-infused normals allow him to hit practically every Dendro Core with ease, and because Burgeon's multiplier is pretty huge at a baseline, he can still play Vaporize while adding a ton of Burgeon damage to boot, albeit obviously will have to find some way of mitigating Burgeon's recoil (Bennett's Heal, Zhongli's shield, etc)
He's also one of the most unga bunga of all DPS, so that helps in me still maining him lmao
Nah Diluc as burgeon trigger is a meme, don't build full EM on him....
Most of the time burgeon uses Kazuha as trigger,where his burst can infuse pyro from Bennett and trigger the seeds, and Kazuha goes full EM anyway
@@Ben-vg6ox I didn't say to build him full EM; you build him like Vapeluc, but you slot in Nahida as your flex and if you have Gravestone as your weapon, you go EM for Sands, and try for EM subs, but no more than that.
Im sorry but, retriburgeon for how much i love it. Is sub optimal and if youre using bennett an anemo unit is way better
Dilucs real issue is that his entire kit revolves around vaping E. But his first E has a lower multiplier than his first NA. So his vapes are just doodoo compared to most other on field vapers.
Hes also hard capped to 3 or 6 E vapes per rotation which is also even less than that of tao, yoimiya or even yanfei. It's honestly possible that XQ and Yelan contribute more damage than diluc does in an environment where all things are equal.

I just got him while I was pulling for Raiden and once I'm done building her and a few others I plan to build him. I don't mind the damage downgrade, I love his design and character. I hyper focused on Mets when I started playing this game but having played for half a year now I just want to enjoy the characters I like not just dismiss them because their numbers don't match popular units. Specially when meta teams can come and go.

Meta is always the way to go, and I don’t get why people play characters because “they like them.” They literally acknowledge that they don’t do damage, yet the keep playing them? Pathetic. Imagine building a character just because he's meta. Imagine skipping your favourite character or preferred gameplay over a meta, just because somebody said that. Being restricted to what you use. Using only what other tells you to use, instead of choosing something on your own. I got Diluc a year ago during one of Zhongli's rerun and ever since he joined my team he became my main DPS. I have multiple stronger DPS characters but I don't enjoy playing any of them as much as playing Diluc. So unlike him all my other DPS characters got benched within a couple of days (sorry Scaramouche...) but he will probably stay in my team until the very last day. So whenever I lose my 50/50 I pray that I get another Diluc constellation :D
I've put so much effort into Diluc, grinding artifacts, talents, building up his supports, all that, but his damage is just beyond pathetic. When I saw that all my other 5 star main DPS do more damage to enemies 10 levels above than he does to enemies 10 levels below I just quit playing him

I started in september 2022 and the only character I ever wanted was diluc. I somehow managed to get C1 diluc by losing a 15pity 50/50 and on the standard banner pity

It really frustrates me when I lose 5050. But it's okay when it's Diluc. I actually built him and use him regularly. Even has his own team (Diluc, nahida, kazuha, kokomi). And now he is C4.

I agree with the video, but I think a big part of why diluc was so valued back then, is the spiral abyss, the "main" (if not only) endgame content, for most part of 1.x was reaaaaaly favorable to pyro, floor 9 and 12 had big pyro dmg buffs (September 28, 2020 to January 01, 2021)
not only that, h is a greatsword user meaning most shields is easier to break by brute force. Geo slime, geo shield, geo towers etc
@@rattango9819 any claymore/geo could fill that role, sure it helps, but i belive probably stuff like tier lists and things like that helped the most, and since the only "hard" content is the abyss, having a massive 75% extra DMG in floors 9 and 12 back then, plus people were just learning the game, probably that bonus made it easier to clear, and that explains the top tier (also Xiangling was severely underrated back then)

Diluc just doesn’t have high enough numbers and, possibly, lacks truly strong claymore option. His numbers are in the same ballpark as Yanfei’s, but his constellations is even harder to get and he’s melee. So yeah.

As a long time Keqing main, she indeed have a short uptime infusion, but you can also switch out characters as well and still have the infusion
It's worth noting claymore DPS characters have the most limited weapon options at the moment. There's no general 5* crit claymores, and the best 4*, serpent spine, is a battlepass weapon a good portion of the playerbase isn't willing or able to pay for. My understanding of redhorn (currently the only 5* crit claymore) on Diluc, is that it can be his BiS if paired with Bennett to compensate for the low base atk, but it's still competitive with WGS (which allows him to run EM sands in vape/melt teams) and R5 serpent spine.
The other 5* pyro DPS- Hu Tao and Yoimiya have also been indirectly buffed with new units like Yelan and Yun Jin. Diluc's strongest team is still a Bennett Xingqiu core.
I'm hoping *something* released with Dehya will indirectly buff Diluc too
Diluc is still strong, just theres other options. The pool of characters as a whole is just expanding exponentially and everyone wants the newest units. If you bring Diluc back and build him up, he still holds his own, even for dendro application for burn teams. I also use a sacrifical greatsword with him so he can use his E 6 times.
I do think that part of the reason why people didn't realize of the powerful Bennett and Fischl was part due to how you couldn't use those characters that were on expedition
But Fischl was already regarded as top tier in the early days of Genshin

As someone who farm CW domain since 1.1...i didn't regret every single pain building Diluc because the first time i saw him and his playstyle i already know I'll main him forever.
The point you made towards the end that Diluc isn’t as combo-intensive is a really good one. I remember when I cranked my world level too high and it felt like every fight needed a burst combo. I bet Diluc would come in handy there, when you just need good damage and don’t want to micro-manage.

When I started playing Genshin I whaled on the standard banner to try and fish him, spend hundreds of bucks + all my primos/free wishes, then Hu Tao came out and I got her with just a few clicks. Later that year I fell in love with Yanfei and built her really well and ended up benching Hu Tao. A couple more months and I got Yoimiya who I also love and built really well. It wasn't until almost two years later that I finally got Diluc. And then again, and again and again. Within 2 patches I came from zero to C3 Diluc and last week I got his C4. Unfortunately he'll probably just be forever in the back of the bus for me.

Diluc was my first 5 star, and he used to hold a special place in my heart... until he wouldn't leave my pulls alone. I went from c0 to c5 Diluc between 3.0 and 3.2. He low key pissed me off, so now he just sits in my account, waiting to give his weapon to Dehya.

Diluc was my first 5 star (got him back in 1.1) and used him as my main dps for a few months. While his play style is a bit quicker than many others in his weapon class, it still felt slow and clunky to me so I dropped him from my main team as soon as I got Keqing and leveled her up. I still use him every once in a while to change things up, but for the most part, he's a bench warmer on my account.

I use him to this day. I got Diluc and WGS just few days apart and since then, he was my main dps.
I got Diluc a bit late, but he is one my favorite characters to use for certain bosses. He is not my main DPS currently. That title belongs to Ayato. However Diluc is still very fun and quite simple to use even if his constalations are very hard to get. And looking at how easy it is to get c6 for other pyro units I can see why Diluc gets benched more and more often.
we only have 2 4 star pyro units, with how things are going for me now, I will end up with Diya before I ever pull diluc on a banner, heck I lost Ayato to Tignari

I started this game back in 1.0, and Diluc came to me on the Beginner Banner without rerolls. I still remember being so excited to have pulled "the best character in the game" and have mained him ever since. I bought the Battle Pass just so he would have a good weapon in R5 Serpent Spine (daily play since 1.0, still no Wolf's Gravestone), I spent my rainy day Welkin Genesis Crystals on his snazzy outfit and hairdo, and I just got C4 last week or so. I was SO happy to see more damage on my man, and had to immediately practice properly spacing out his Searing Onslaughts.
I will never stop maining Diluc; the nostalgia and attachment is just too strong. I consistently get 33-36 Stars in the Abyss, and any combat events that are harder than that offer even less, like a paltry amount of Mystic Enhancement Ore and a Mora. In short, I've nothing left to prove, and thus Diluc being powercrept by Hu Tao doesnt bother me anymore - my redheaded Batman and I have Fatui to slay.
I feel that Diluc is the only 5* character to have clearly been power crept. Hu Tao and to a lesser extent Yoimiya outclass him damage wise, and 5* main DPS of other elements also have more power or better elemental reactions. However, I think the most grevious blow was when fellow OG standard 5* Kequing got a massive buff with the Aggravate reaction while Diluc got nothing.
However I do think Diluc's biggest strength is that he is the easiest 5* main DPS to play, and I still use him on my reverse-vaporize team, even after getting him way back in Nov 2020. I agree with Vars that his comfort is the main reason for his appeal now.
Yup, low risk low reward although the term I coined didn't actually apply to Genshin characters but that's how I describe him.
He has no misplay, wasting his burst is still OKAY, just mashed button or quickswap him. However, your damage won't be as big but you get the gist. It's okay to enjoy big number or follow the meta, but let's not forget, all characters can do their job well too.

As someone who beats 36 star Spiral Abyss in Nov 2020, I still use Diluc to this day just because of he is still the fastest farmer with low Burst CD and Aoe wide and range of it

Still a Diluc main at AR57 talking here. Got him on Noelle's banner and this man carried and still does today. He is my most reliable unit in the openworld. Mining, shattering shields, even hitting Hillichurls in their towels with his burst, all done by him. What hooked me is his smooth gameplay that doesn't require braincells where you can just spam burst. I love the fact that he doesn't require specific teammates to shine, it is so much easier in coop (also it is very fun to flex a bit, people are always surprised to see me main Diluc hehe). His skin is gorgeous, his lore amazing. I am never going to pull for another Pyro Carry, I already have mine forever.

I’m almost AR 59 and I still don’t have him. In fact, I have Yoimiya, and she was my first main DPS. When I finally get Diluc, I’ll honestly be ecstatic. I’ve really loved his design and play-style, and I’m frustrated that I STILL don’t have him. I like the simplicity of his playstyle. He isn’t complicated to use and I value that a lot. Claymore is also my favorite weapon type in the game, so it’ll be nice to have the original best boy.
honestly diluc is quite fine. he's pretty much what i consider the best made character. the only reason he's not as used is because he's a day one unit and his numbers are lower. if they ever wanted to bring him up, just up his numbers and he's totally fine.

@@bobjones1934 I have started to play the last year. With the 3.4, it will be the 1st time I will pull off Hu Tao. Besides Yoimiya is far for being a trash. She is incredible. The only thing that annoys me is her auto target. Sure, Hu Tao is very powerful but the gap between her and Yoimiya is not that big. They’re closed in terms of damage and Yoimiya is easier to use.
It makes so much sense of Diluc's cons and talent just buffs diluc and nothing to team because he is a lone wolf, he doesn't like to work with people according to lore. and we know character kit has something to do with lore.
As Hoyo did with some Genshin or Honkai characters, he can have direct buffs in numbers, can give him custom artifact or else. It's just about they want buff him or not.
It won't surprise me if once we reach Natlan we might get a new pyro focus artifact set, it'll be a good way to maybe buff characters like Diluc.

I’ve been playing genshin for 4 months and diluc is the only standard character I have ever gotten. Every 50/50 I’ve lost has been to him and I got him twice off the standard banner so he’s now at c3 and at first I was disappointed everytime I saw his silhouette light up but I’m actually quite happy now that I’ve learned how to build him. I only play causally, maybe like an hour a day and most of that time is spent farming. He’s made my dailies a breeze and even though I know he’ll probably be outclassed in the future when I get more characters, he’ll always have a special place in my heart

I love Dilucs gameplay. Its just feels good to hit with the E/NA combo and then shooting a phoenix. The only character that i like a little bit more in terms of gameplay is Itto with his charged NA`s.
Diluc was my first 5* and I got him in Nov 2020. However, his slow atk speed didnt sit right with me and so I stuck with a 4* freeze team until I got Zhongli and Ningguang.
Now in January of 2022, Diluc is still Lvl 60, stripped of artefacts /weapon and benched.

I use him quite a lot. He's very easy to use and build. While not his optimum set, he works great with the gladiator. I had so many of those floating around that I was able to easily find great stats for him.
I can see why he's fallen off in usage but he's still a character I don't see myself dropping any time soon.
Could you make a video on Jean? I think she's very unique in the 5 star lineup since she is not particularly bad but doesn't really excel in many teams other.
I have every pyro character in the game. All of my 5*s are c0 (including Diluc) but I've got cons on the 4*s. And despite Yoimiya, Hu Tao, and even Klee having more power, I frequently use Diluc in Spiral Abyss. I think Diluc and Yoimiya are both comfortable characters to use while Hu Tao and Klee are complicated characters to use: I use Diluc in mono pyro teams (with Bennett, Xiangling, and Sucrose or Kazuha) where I want to pile on as much pyro damage as possible (against infused enemies so I don't really have to worry about ICDs) and I use Yoimiya (Zhongli and pick any 2: Yun Jin/Bennett/Xingqiu/Yelan) when I don't want to bother with chasing down an enemy that moves or dodges a lot. And on the other side, there are Hu Tao and Klee, both of whom require a higher skill level to play correctly, with animation canceling, monitoring HP (Hu Tao) monitoring stamina (Klee) so they don't run out, and timing skills and bursts correctly for optimal performance.
But that's not how I play. When I bring out Klee, it isn't to Spiral Abyss. It's to the overworld so I can shout "DA DA DA", run around, and throw bombs at things. I don't like Hu Tao's play style because I prefer to always be at 80% HP or higher at all times, so I never play with her. And I really really do not want to spend an hour screaming into my phone because I failed to animation cancel for the 80th time. So I play Diluc and Yoimiya, because they are comfortable.
One thing I like about Diluc is that his burst's infusion is persistent, so if my rotation was bad, I can swap to someone else, use their burst or skill, and swap back to Diluc and continue hitting things with a flaming claymore as if I did nothing wrong. Diluc is a forgiving, reliable character for players with a skill issue!
The first character I got is Yanfei whose play style had me hooked very much. So I basically chose to dedicate all my time playing to build the best Yanfei I could. Then I got Diluc as my first 5 star, that was a sad day.
hahahahah I've mained yanfei since her release too and my first 5 star was also diluc. I still chose to use yanfei over him though because I preferred her playstyle. I'll build diluc eventually though

i raised him towards the end of version 3.0 just because i already have a million different parties built and he seemed fun so i figured why not. i played a standard vape team for a while and it was fun but it didn't feel as fresh as i was hoping, then when nahida came out, it completely changed everything for him. i run him on 4p gilded now with 500 EM and 56/120 crit on wolfs gravestone and it's a fantastic combination of vape damage and burgeon damage. 10/10 with the addition of dendro, easily my go-to for burgeon (even over thoma since his application + personal damage is a lot better)
I used to be a Diluc hater due to how I perceived his mains' overrating him too much. But when I got him, I tried his gameplay, and the simplicity of it really makes him a comfortable choice. I have Hu Tao and Yoimiya in my roster too, so often compare them to each other. I find myself always arguing which team to put in one of my Abyss teams, though the other team was always been Freeze team (Venti -Kokomi -Ayaka +additional character) for mob heavy floor. But for the other floor I usually choose a Pyro centric team, either Diluc Hypercarry, National variant, Double Hydro Hu Tao, or Double Pyro Double Geo Yoimiya. Most of the time I find myself choosing Diluc team since it is easier to play and reach high damage while doing the minimal of thing. Bennett and Diluc's synergy is also great, especially they really battery each other, and Diluc makes full use of C6 Bennett.
this is so crazy because i finally got diluc last month after never getting him (started in 1.3) and he almost immediately became my new main. i find him so fun and he can do pretty good damage without much effort!
I still main diluc till this day and even had bennett to c6 just to make him have that extra pyro damage. While i do have multiple other characters that has better multipliers and all, his playstyle still worked the best for me and that's all i really care about
Interesting you say you felt like you've seen Diluc before. Fun fact about me: I literally did. Quiet a few years ago, I saw Diluc but didn't know what game he was from. I thought he might have been from the Tales Of series. I am not sure if I even knew his name. When I saw him, I immediately thought he was the main character of the entire game because he was the one in the party actively wandering around the open world and I mean...c'mon. Look at him! When I saw him again years later in Genshin Impact, it was a major "Ooooh!" moment for me. So your description of him is pretty spot on, in more ways than you know. He has major main protag energy.
i still play and love diluc, been playing the game for a year and a half and got him in my first ever ten pull. never stopped maining him ❤️
New to genshin(about 2months in) and lost my raiden 50/50 to diluc, after getting raiden i ended up trying him in a team with raiden, xiangling, and Bennett(probably not optimal but just to try him) and ran a few weapon mat dungeons with him. Had an absolute blast with him( pun intended), while i wont put him on either team atm, i will def be making him
Hu Tao is the pinnacle of high damage while Yoimiya is for comfort and ease-of-play. Everything's just stacked against Diluc
In terms of speedrun he's fine honestly. Comfort wise depend, I've seen polls were Diluc beat Yoi in overworld in CN. Interesting he feels better though AoE is more valued over there than abyss so works out.
And number wise he's not far from Yoimiya.
He sheeted around 48k with double hydro for Jstern.
Which a bit below Yoi but he has AoE consolidation so there's that.
Its Hu Tao the problem. At low con, current Hu Tao is too broken in comparison to her competition sheeting at 70k+ now. While having better AoE than Yoi and not needing Jump Cancel to reach highest level of CA at C0 too.
Diluc was my first 5* back in jan 2021 and he's been my main since :') yes I do use other teams without him, yes I do have a bunch more 5*'s, but I always end up having him out or in coop while doing basically anything, esp dailies lol, he's just my main man I've gotten used to him
I think the only time Bennett will be usurped is when a pyro faruzan/gorou/sara comes out and that is honestly….terrifying
200 days playing, and I just got diluc. I even got baizhu first then diluc. Been waiting for this guy since I start. I just like the character. And can u imagine the first 5 star weapon I got for my first multipull when I join this game is wolf's gravestone
I don't know why no one plays Diluc, but I know why I play him:
1. He's standart pyro 5*, so I have better chance to get him to c6.
2. He's the only pyro dps I have.
3. I don't like Hu Tao (my most unlikable character btw), Yoimiya or Yanfei gameplay.
4. He's fenix looks cool. 😉
5. Pyro infusion of his Q doesn't disapier if I swich a character.
P.S. No one plays, because my most unlikable character exsists? 🤔

@@lstsoul4376 Yes, I know. I didn't mention her on purpose, because she isn't main dps. Of course, somone can play her with c6 Bennet as main pyro dps, but it isn't her main purpose.
Im over here actually ENJOYING how everyone is underestimating Diluc. Its like no one but me can see what the future holds. We have yet to be introduced to the Pyro nation, the Pyro archon, and the infine possibities that could bring future Pyro support units 🔥
What makes you think that people gonna use their future pyro support units that buff pyro in general on Diluc of all pyro units?...will the support units have skills like - "the elemental burst increases the damage by 40% for Diluc only"??🙃

I like how his skill can be interwoven with his normal attacks. Eula is the only other one that comes to mind but it's not as frequent and Diluc skill spam.
I wish they gave him some small buff that fits his playstyle, like "After casting Dawn, he will give all other party members buff "Darknight Heros Sidekick" which rises the elemental skill and burst damage by X% when the character is not on the field" solidifying his "driver" gamestyle.
I use him to this day simply because I enjoy him. Awesome character, fun playstyle.
As someone who has played Genshin for over a year and due to some seriously bad RNG (I have C4 Mona, if that's any indication) I only just now pulled a Diluc. (I still don't have Jean or Keching either.) I'm excited to build him out and use him finally, so it was nice to see he still has his place and uses. I don't have Hu Tao or Yoimiya either, and have basically just been coasting with Xiangling and Bennet for pyro coverage this whole time haha.
