Hi, I’m Krista! I make math courses to keep you from banging your head against the wall. ;)
Math class was always so frustrating for me. I’d go to a class, spend hours on homework, and three days later have an “Ah-ha!” moment about how the problems worked that could have slashed my homework time in half. I’d think, “WHY didn’t my teacher just tell me this in the first place?!”
So I started tutoring to keep other people out of the same aggravating, time-sucking cycle. Since then, I’ve recorded tons of videos and written out cheat-sheet style notes and formula sheets to help every math student-from basic middle school classes to advanced college calculus-figure out what’s going on, understand the important concepts, and pass their classes, once and for all. Girl, thank you so much for explaining this. The presentation I view on WebAccess only showed with the vectors are neither parallel nor orthogonal. And I wondered if you could just multiply by one of the numbers in the k spot over to the other vector, and this completely cleared up how I thought parallel vectors worked. Thank you!

I've been looking in my math book for a way to tell if they are parallel and couldn't find the answer. This video saved me!! Preparing for a test and missed a single class due to illness; seems parallel may have been the subject that day. This video was clear and concise. Thank you!!

Well yes it works, but be careful with the parallel vectors, sometimes you need to factor more than once to be able to get the same numbers.
For example, try with and , you can factor -4 but then you have to multiply by 3 to get .
You can also use cos(x)= a*b/|a||b| formula and if you get 180 degrees angle, then they are parallel

This is for vector calculus, which is usually in calculus 3 or 4, multivariable/multivariate calculus.
