    You're right, one of the most underrated bass-players. I'm 67 now. Know them since 1967. Also love his bass-lines on 'I've Gotta Get A Message To You' or 'The Change Is Made'. Beside his parts of singing, Mo was a multiinstrumentalist. All sorts of guitars and keyboards, including moog-synthesizer. Also created sound-effects just like the stomp on 'You Win Again', which he's done in his garage. Unbelievable but true.

    • @JelaniStokes
      @JelaniStokes  3 года назад +8

      There could be an argument that he was the most talented Gibb brother when you look at the overall contribution he was able to provide. But again........Mo was a BEAST on the bass. LAYING. IT. DOWN. WITH. FIRE. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

    Mo tickling that bass on this track is beyond amazing - as are the harmonies by these three Musical Geniuses...
    💖💖💖
    The fact that the brothers were self-taught (and, each one mastering several instruments...), yet, none of them having any musical training, not knowing how to read musical notes, nor having the knowledge of what a musical scale was... proves how extremely talented this trio truly was.

    • @JelaniStokes
      @JelaniStokes  3 года назад +1

      That's one of the greatest aspects of music is that one can become super talented through exploration and practice. the Gibb brothers are prime examples of this.

    Great video, I'd to mention what a great piano player Maurice was, he came with a piano sound in the 60's that was unique to him by using a recording technique developed by Maurice himself that no one was able to replicate, listen to I've gotta get a message to you"" original recording, that's Maurice on both bass and piano, he was only 18 or 17 at the time, a true genius.

    This was considered their comeback song after moving to Miami from the UK. I hear this song played almost daily, on radio and stores. Once again I am so impressed with your knowledge of the song's origin. Their song "How Deep is your Love" is a great harmonizing delight also.

    • @JelaniStokes
      @JelaniStokes  3 года назад +4

      I would define Jive Talkin' as the official come back song. When the song was released as a single, the record company purposely left their name off the label so radio jocks would give it an objective listen. Once the jocks fell in love with the song, it was revealed to be the Bee Gees and the meteoric raise began!!
      I actually plan to record my video on How Deep is Your Love this weekend. I'm excited to share my thoughts on this song!!

    • @jennifertaylor6197
      @jennifertaylor6197 3 года назад +6

      yes, the same trick that Robert Stigwood used for the release of "New York Mining Disaster". DJ's assumed it was the Beatles under a different name. It became a hit in the US. Nobody denied it was the Beatles until finally John Lennon spoke up and said so. Robin Gibb stated this on a 1978 interview with Merv Griffin.

      Do you have the ability to isolate the vocals for their songs. If not, their biggest hits are available online. You can clearly hear that some of the horns on You Should Be Dancing are actually vocals. The deep sucking breaths, and in one song you can hear Barry give the direction to his brothers, “soft.” Pretty neat.
