We are playing this song in band, our Band Director has our snare playing with the snare off. out band has 20 people and over half of them are clarinets! I am luckily a percussionist. I get to play the Tamborine in the song, even though i do better with mallet percussion. Our first concert of the year is next month!!

I used to live in Houston, and I had a concert at elementary schools back when I was in 6th on January 24th, 2020 and we were playing this. I was up the morning of the concert earlier than I should have because I was starving. I saw the news report of that building exploding. Now, when I watch the footage of fire shooting into the air, I think of this because after all, it is themed of a volcano erupting.
I remember getting my hands on my friends piece [baritone] and started practicing it instead of my piece because i already was good at it. I was a trumpet player.
I love playing this with our band bc it's super fun but it sounds really bad bc we have a violin player incorporated with it so it doesn't seem as intense. I just feel like the violin should not play in this piece. I can barely listen to a violent playing bc I get major chills and when I get chills I gag. And it doesn't help that the violin stands right next to me.
When I was is 5th grade (note this is the first time band kids start their band journey), I was the ONLY oboist. And not: beginning band is loud, like people care more about notes than volume. So the oboe part I think wasnt heard.
