I think after Nirvana was over, a lot of people dismissed many bands that may have reminded them a bit of Nirvana. In doing that, some bands may have not gotten the respect they deserved. Silverchair is probably one of them. This show totally rocks and holds up well after all these years. Could you imagine being 15/16 years old and playing kick a$$ rock n roll in front of a crowd like this. It had to be crazy for them
This expresses exactly how I feel about them. These kids ooze this music out of their souls, esp., to me Daniel. I don't think he could not play music at this point. Like breathing for the rest of us. And, yes. They are good. Really good. It would suck to be dismissed, compared and relegated to a copy when you're just bringing out what you are as a musician.
I saw Cage The Elephant put on a show in Ottawa around 2011. It was really early in the afternoon. I dont think me or anyone else there even knew who they were. After the show I think we were all big fans. I swore I had that same feeling I saw Nirvana live.

I once said that anyone who has ever been obsessively into silverchair is mentally ill. I stand behind that statement, but not in a derogatory way. I think Daniel Johns is able to capture the earnest struggles of youth in such a powerful way. Though I may not be as obsessed as I was when I was at my lowest, I will always love and appreciate their music. Daniel is a huge reason for my having the courage to start speaking to the people in my life about my mental health and going to therapy. I feel better today than I have in a long time. I love silverchair and always will. Thank you, Daniel, for speaking to me in a way that few artists will

Lets be honest, as much as many fans preferring this era and earlier, the band Silverchair mk1was built on angst. So after one learns to cope in life (maturity). You can't blame the guy for not wanting to mimic, fake angst or rehash the same formula. Neon Ballroom was a beautiful compromise before the transition into Silverchair mk2 the "we can actually write, sing and play our instruments" unlike a lot of repeat the formula bands of that era. Alas bittersweet but undeniably one of the greats :)
For those that aren't familiar with what this jackass is saying (and I looked it up) MK1 & MK2 stands for the video games "Mortal Combat". Sorry----the 'comment' means nothing if EVERYONE can't understand it. And you're welcome. Stop giving me homework...just spell the shit out; you got nothing but time.
Maybe because people felt the same angst. Music is also about expression and is the reason why Nirvana became so big, maybe holding that angst in is what sent him on his path of what he has been on for years along with his medical issues. This comment could be excused if it was many years ago but seriously at what level has Daniel learnt to cope with the life of success dictated by record companies. Music is another victim of commercialisation and the promise of the good life, only very few have the choice to do what they want with music and be successful. I don't know Daniel but to call it fake angst is total BS
