    I'm glad more people are bringing John out of his shell. He used to be so stoic. The nicest dude who casually benches a competitive 1RM deadlift

    John sounds like the American Powerlifting version of Clarence. They literally have the same tone and cadence in which they talk, and both use a lot of fillers when they speak.
    Not to mention they’re so nonchalant about how incredibly strong they are

    Watching John Haack squat reminds me of powerlifting legend John Kuc who also squatted 905 high bar as a SHW at the ‘73 world’s.He was also a great deadlifter. I would place Haack right there with Coan and Bridges as the strongest power lifters pound for pound.Great work Zack!!Keep them coming!!!

      I would say john is better. His best lifts now are even better by dots than coans who didthem with some equioment(i know it didnt help as much as today, but that squat suit gave some pounds, i have heard it from mark bell)

      Only if they both don't train the power clean. Lasha would be outdeadlifted by most powerlifters but no one on the planet can clean more than him.

      @@AfferbeckBeatsthat is so not true, if Lasha is pulling 270kg and can clean that with speed, I can guarantee he is a 440kg + deadlifter if he even practiced at all. He does not do or show those types of maximal lifts, but I would not agree with the statement that most to all power lifters could out deadlift lasha. The guy moves 600 lbs in a clean pull like an empty bar. You really think he couldn't pull 900+ slowly? 2 technique sessions on efficient deadlift technique and lasha is pulling 900 plus all day long.

      @@AfferbeckBeatsbad example-Lasha is one of the strongest guys on the planet not to mention he weighs over 400 lbs, and he could definitely pull upper 800s if not into the 900s.
      Would not at all be surprised if he could put up around a 2200 pound total at least even with no formal powerlifting training

    They changed bench standards now in power lifting, you're shoulders now have to break the line of your shoulders on the bench. Much like breaking parallel for squat in crossfit. Love this change, decreases the huge arch crap. I'm sure it will need fine tuning, but I'm glad they are working on it.

      @@BleedTheRici think he is referring to the IPF rule change that your elbows must be inline with your shoulder. This is only in the IPF, no other federation has adopted this to my knowledge and I honestly doubt they will.

    John kind of proves you don't need to do olympic lifts to develop explosive power. Dude just powerlifts and comes in and casually power cleans just as much as dudes who've been doing it for years.

Like he could power clean 405 without needing to bend his knees much at all, vs something that's technically a power clean but has a lot of knee flexion

    John is really strong because he truly power cleans it to his neck. He doesn't open his feet to allow himself to clean the bar lower and catch it. He literally brings the bar from the floor into the clean position without any tricks.

      @@MartynasKarklis the further you open your legs the easier the lift is. I always do it like John does until I cannot do it like that no more. Then I open the legs to catch it in a classical power clean, however that is a bit of "cheating", it demonstrates pure strength to bring it from the floor to your chest without artificially reducing your height.

      The power clean is defined as bringing a barbell from the ground to one’s front rack, receiving the weight in an above parallel squat. Your definition is incorrect. The goal is lift the most weight possible, which requires superb technique and not just strength.

      @@andrewmontgomery1763 I think English is not your first language. No problem. He does receive the bar in his front rack but in a squat of feet close together, thus he receives it at almost his real height without any reduction, the further the feet are in the squat the lower your height will be and the easier the lift is. Pretty simple. Picking up the bar and just cleaning it up to your neck in one pull is extremely impressive.

      that's called a muscle clean, it is definitely more impressive than a power clean, but just like the power clean, it's only an accessory for the clean and jerk.

    That was another great video. Love seeing elite athletes try different sports. One thing the average person needs to keep in mind when comparing to the crossfitters is the strongman and powrrlifters are all juicing taking steroids for years. These top level crossfitters are natural and are tested regularly.

      @@cesarandrade1987 Haack isn't tested. No strongmen are tested. Crossfitters are regularly and randomly tested with only one top ten placer popped in 14 years. Did they just decide to pick on one guy in 14 years. A small percentage of team athletes get busted every year. Do they somehow pick random people and miss the elite men and women. You have to be an fucking idiot to beliveve these crossfitters who only deadlift 500 lbs are taking PEDs.

    Giraffes have long necks, but you have long arms and legs. I think you would be an orangutan. Orangutans have long limbs and are much stronger than they look. They are stronger and bigger than chimpanzees, but they are not violent.
