- Mattie Rogers is an Elite Olympic Weightlifter who put me through one of the hardest squat training sessions I have had in a LONG time. I believe that Mattie is one of the greatest American weightlifters in history. She came from a CrossFit background and has bridged the gap between weightlifting and CrossFit , general fitness, bodybuilding , and powerlifting all because of her likability and incredible performances.
Watching Mattie you really understand the difference between a top competitive athlete and basically the rest of humanity.
It really is completely fucked up.

@@matthewbell6389 what this reminded me of today: women in weightlifting have an excess in leg strength and their lifts tend to be limited more by their upper body strength.
Matties PBs are S 112 kg, C&J 143 kg and 255 kg while Zack currently does somewhere around 130 kg and 160 kg atm. They are both arguably equally fucked by this workout Zack maybe even more than Mattie.
@@timonschneider6290 to be fair Zack did pause squats the whole time. Actually impressive he did them all the way through. I would have said "fuck pausing that shit" after set 7.

@urgamecshk. I agree with you. Escape is essential for OLY lifts. The back squat is NOT a OLY lift. It is training exercise for the 2 OLY lifts. Escaping from the back squat in a low position is not a skill most weightlifters have developed or practiced. Maybe It’s without saying at her level lifters would have the skill dialed, but few are at her level and it’s worth noticing and a complement. Furthermore, escape from a back squat is not essential in well equipped gym or with other lifters you have developed good assistance and spotting technique.

Rogers is seriously POGGERS lifter. At first I was like Kappa but when they started lifting it was seriously PogChamp. When I saw the working set weight I was all monkaS. But that chill dude interrupting made me KEKW hard. In the end the video was full of Kreygasm moments, the only PepeHands thing is that I can't reach these performances.

I only do ATG pause squats now. I can't think straight on a heavy squat if I don't do it like that. It's like my mental insurance policy for knowing that I'm not cutting my form or depth short. But imo it makes your core so much more solid at the same time.

What's your goal? If you're not going for something specific (competition, meet, etc), just strength or hypertrophy, I did paused zerchers my last wave, and they felt great (hard) but my core and back strength went WAY up
