  • On day 821 I was riding beautiful mountain roads from Lake Bunyonyi in South-Western Uganda the very last town before you cross to either DRC or Rwanda. I was spending the night in Kisoro - with a special guest star, whom I was really excited to meet again and finally ride together with.

Patience especially with the money changers. I enjoyed your day and (probably for the 4th time) your ending😂😂😂. Brings drunk dialing up several levels hahaha! Great video Henriette!

    Me again. May I ask what drone model were you using? You had some amazing aerial shots in Oman. I would have loved to see more. I also note you get swamped by fixers when you are crossing borders and I wondered about the security situation with your bike and valuables when you are negotiating visas, insurance, sim cards etc?

    • @ForTheLoveOfWheels
      @ForTheLoveOfWheels  Год назад +1

      Good questions. I have a DJI Mavic Mini 2. But some countries I can take it in and have to get creative.
      I have a lot of stunning drone footage from Oman, will make episodes from there as well 😊
      Regarding border crossings, I carry all paperwork in my backpack and money on me. I try to only leave things I can live without. But it can be difficult.

      @@ForTheLoveOfWheels All what you have said makes common sense. From someone who once lived in Africa, I'm assuming you are also aware that some countries, moreover cities, have a reputation for theft of motorbikes. Do you use any alarms or mobilisers for 'Honey'? And NOT last and not least (for now 😁), in your Q&A, you answered a question about what bike you would like to use in the future. I believe you said a Honda 300L, rather than a Rally, because it is shorter, cost less, and is lighter. My question to you is this.
      For all those benefits, you would be losing out on (1) a larger tank (70% more fuel capacity), (2)fairing is more established and it has the screen, so greater protection on the road from rain, wind, fatigue, bugs, etc) and (3) more powerful lights for safer road riding.
      I appreciate your decision-making may have been pragmatic ( cost etc), but I wonder if the saving you made by adding your own fuel tank and screen would not have amounted to nearly the cost of a Rally. In the UK, a 300L is ca. £750 cheaper. By the time you have messed on with your DIY upgrades, I wonder?
      Final question. If you had the money you mentioned you might revert to the bike you used from Alaska - Would that be because of more power? What are the advantages and disadvantages, if any?
      Would you consider a mid sized adv bike like the Aprilia Tuareg 660 or would the lack servicing coverage be a significant factor?

    • @ForTheLoveOfWheels
      @ForTheLoveOfWheels  Год назад

      @@twitno1 Hi. All your points makes sense and I wouldn't go without the windscreen, large tank, hand guards etc. But I don't want the Honda Honda handguards or Honda tank. I want specific ones that I like. IMS tank has the biggest capacity. So no point paying for all those extras, when I would replace them anyways.
      Plus the weight and height matters a great deal for someone who struggles everyday to climb up her 250L 😄 I am only 158 cms tall.

    • @ForTheLoveOfWheels
      @ForTheLoveOfWheels  Год назад +1

      @@twitno1 Yes, I would consider other bikes. But for me the cheap, lightweight, simple bike with very long service interval makes a lot of sense. More money to travel, less potential mechanical issues to worry about.
      If I was only traveling in Europe for some months, it's a whole different scenario. But riding through remote places in Angola, Rwanda, Uganda etc, engine power becomes the least of your worries.
      In South Africa it's another thing. There's access to excellent mechanics and spare-parts.
      I made a video about my choice of bike. I will find the link. 😊
