- Day 824: On the second day in Rwanda, Martin and I are heading for the Congo-Nile Trail. A hiking trail that runs along the eastern shores of Lake Kivu - one of Africa’s great lakes.
We were not sure what we were getting ourselves into, but we knew that the first 79 km’s were doable on a motorcycle. It had been raining all morning - and the weather forecast didn’t look too good, but we had ea7ch other, should we get into trouble, so we threw ourselves into one of the most remote, beautiful and tough rides on my entire journey!

First of all your pronunciation of the Kinyarwanda names of the towns is Top-notch👌🏾.
The abandoned town you passed through was not affected by war; there hasn't been any war or conflict in Rwanda for the past 30 years. The houses have been washed away due to heavy rainfall and landslides that are so common in those hilly areas, especially in the rainy season.

Great Video ... Great Trails...Great Scenery... Great Riding ... It was mostly just a lack of confidence that stopped you riding some of those bridges - you need to believe in yourself as much as I / we believe in you !

I wish, we would have stopped, had a break. Agreed with one person to help us, and we could have tipped him. The way it happened it got stressful and felt like we needed to get out of there. For sure just an emotion.

nice video I was in January 2023 and loved this trail. Then the wood bridge was not bad.

These parts being so scary only looks incomprehensible to the people with longer legs. I totally get what worried you there. And that one bridge that consisted more of air than planks? Two tall Teutons and a GS, and it would have ended in the river! 😵💫
