What a fun...carefree style skirt! You look like you should be going to a Woodstock concert or riding around in a hippie painted VW bug! Great way to do something "fun"!
Oh I love it Marie I would never have thought of shortening at the hip and I would have avoided that style because my hips and stomach are not my faves. But if I too shortened there it would not highlight that area on me. I am short too, so I would need to shorten and I would hate to loose the swirling twirling in shortening at the bottom. Teacher stays at the top of the class 🎉😊
I have this pattern, but I've been afraid to make it because of the inserts. But seeing how you did it, and how you explained it, I'm now excited to get started on it. Thank you. 🙂
Great instructions, thank you! I feel confident an excited for making up this pattern now. Your adjustments like shorter length and wider waistband will help me!
I enjoyed your video. I purchased this pattern last year and I am looking forward to making several floor length skirts each in a solid color fabric. I will make a lined jacket with each lined skirt to make a suit. Thank you for sharing.
I'm going to try making this - I just bought the pattern on ebay. However I don't think my edges/seams will be as professional as yours! You're an expert and such an inspiration - thank you ❤
Love thus skirt! Just ordered some viscose crepe to make one. An electric blue with small white flowers and a plain electric blue for the gadgets. Will be fabulous for late Spring and Summer. In the UK so gets warmer later
The skirt is lovely on you. Definitely a pallet cleanser. I see you painted another machine. I can't wait to see your process of that. Take care and God bless.
Great skirt! I also like the "matching" sets you're doing. Sometimes you see a pattern and think "this is fabulous". Make it up and realize you don't really have pieces to go with it. This is a great way to build out a personal wardrobe. Great job.
Love love. I have this pattern and now I’m inspired to sew it up. You’re an amazing teacher. Love that you take your time and that you don’t take fit grated that everybody knows…I’m here for the repeat. Please stay authentically YOU!
I LOVE IT! Shortening it from the top instead of the bottom is perfect. Maybe for a person with very straight hips the original pattern dimensions might work OK, but I like the way it lays and flows the way you did it.
This skirt is beautiful, love it! I, too, have this pattern and looking forward to revisiting my hippy days😂. Thanks for sharing. The fabric combo is so happy❤
I am so glad I found your site. While many others just give us a rundown of what they have made, walking us through your actual process is so so helpful. I also love how you do your own thing instead of following the pattern instructions and walking us through why you make the piecing decisions you make. Oh and I put your RUclips on the TV as if I am binge-watching a regular show. I do this while sewing. I have to then go back and give you a like afterwards so you get credit for my binge watching. Keep it up!!!
Lovely skirt! Today’s crummy weather is really making up for that earlier nice weather. 🤭 If you make this pattern again from solid fabrics, wouldn’t it be pretty to add a machine embroidered motif to the lower portion of those godets? 😉
Your skirt is beautiful. I wouldn't have thought of putting flannel with cotton, but it works really nicely. I love long shirts and do wear them around the farm sometimes, but they are a bit of a pain climbing up and down the ladder to the hay mow, and they tend to catch on things that are sticking out around me in the alleyways. I would go barefoot too if I had weather like that. We have about 5 inches of snow coming down at the moment (although I have been known go barefoot in the snow too.)
Hello Marie , love your skirt . It fits you very well . To bad I can’t get the pattern because I would definitely make myself one . Hope you enjoy the rest of the beautiful day ❤
Is it last years pattern, does it say Marie? I looked on Google and there are a few more on etzy. That skirt appeals to us over 50s as we have good memories!
If you don't have a serger, you're going to need to find another way to finish off all of your raw edges. So you can do that by zigzagging over the edge, running a second row of straight stitch and then trimming next to that stitch line, pinking the edges with pinking shears, or any other way that you can think of. The main thing is to make sure that your raw edges are finished off so they won't fray
Feel like a hippie and nothing matters! let's go!

Actually, I had a hippie van a while back. Had the westfalia pop top, and I had painted flowers all over it. So much fun 😁🤣
it's a twirl skirt! And every female knows "You're never to old to twirl". It turned out great. You are such a good teacher. Thank you.
Excellent video! Very helpful. Thank you! 👍
Gorgeous skirt!
It's fab! 😍Totally you! I always knew you were a hippy underneath 😉
Oh my goodness Marie that is the cutest dang skirt ever!!!

Snowing here too, but I really enjoyed our one freakishly warm day. ☺️

@suzanne boucher is there a reason you can’t purchase this pattern (i.e. availability, shipping, etc). ?
@@brendajefferson5984 hello . I can’t purchase simplicity patterns because they don’t sell them in Cornwall Ontario Canada 🇨🇦.

I think it came out last year, but I bought mine a couple weeks ago at Joann so they should still be in stock. I hope
Is a serger necessary. It was mentioned at 12:40.

@@mybucoliclife Thanks!
