Very very extremely relatable
That is so me, even in simple assignment i dont want to do it,i just copy may classmates assignment cause i dont want to use may brains
@@subidosantiago4989 when i do my own arrangement it sounds so poor 😂 im saying this bcuz even with a simple one you can sound amazing (mine doesn't). Anyways, for now i just copy everyone and try to learn something with it😳
Hey that's me too
so basically,
1. Pick a song
2. search the chord
3. Make bass and melody from the chord
4. Add snare an kicks
5. No boring bass line arrangement.
And dont use your pinky

Nah dude it's really easy just keep at it you will get there.
Can someone re-explain me about how to make the bass line? I just didn't get it
@@stevennathanael5518 Take the bass
oot note of the chord (for example in an "A" that's probably the open A string) and play it with your thumb in cadence with the rhythm of the song, usually on the downbeats. For common 4/4 timing that would mean hitting the bass note on the 2nd and fourth beats. Add spice by tastefully playing the bass note in between beats (if you're playing on the 2 and 4 try playing a half beat before the 2, or a half beat before the 4, or even on the 3 or a half beat off the 3; whatever sounds good).
Hope that helps

@@OppoA-lf6xb What will u suggest for a beginner(only know da chords)? Ig making arrangements straight away is not a great idea
@Swug This answer is more or less correct in this context. More broadly, an arrangement is basically just all of the stuff that a composer compiles together to make a piece of music. A song might exist already, like Lorde's Royals. Whoever produced the song arranged it to have whatever vocals and backing vocals and drums and whatnot. Another person can make a new arrangement of the song and they might choose to use a tuba, violin, and vuvuzela, with stomps and claps for percussion. It is worth noting that the process of arranging music does not specify whether the music is old or new, all of the parts can be brand new or all of the parts can be borrowed from somewhere else, you just arrange everything together to make a single coherent piece of music which is a new arrangement.
It is actually very common, and always has been common, to take a single preexisting melody or concept and create a whole new song around it. Classical composers have been doing it for centuries, people still do it. One of Elvis's greatest hits, Can't Help Falling in Love, had its vocal line derived from the melody of a centuries old song called Plaisir d'amour. This is a textbook example of arranging old material to make something new.
Along the same lines, we can talk about harmonizing. Harmonizing is related to arranging, but they're not synonymous. Typically during arrangement you need to have a harmony in mind so that you know what notes all of the instrument should play in order to get the vibes you are looking for. In the video here, we are using the same harmony from the original song. However, that is not required, you can also choose to REharmonize if you desire, which is something that is incredibly common in jazz music in particular. You can keep the exact same melody, but instead of putting it over your normal G-C-D chords or whatever, you might choose to put it over G-F#dim-G-Am-D-Em or something. So you can create an arrangement with the new harmony and get something that sounds completely different but still has the same melody on top.
We can also talk about rhythms, dynamics, anything else that goes into making music. The decisions of all of these things go into making an "arrangement."

Oh... I’ve been doing the exact same thing as Andrew😅 I started arranging after year 1 of playing guitar. And I agree with muscle memory. Muscle memory from practice is really important, arranging will be so much quicker. When I forget a song I just close my eyes and my fingers just do the work for me :D it’s a LOT of patience and practice. I never skipped out practicing at least an hour or two a day and when I started off in summer, I practiced like around 4-6 hours average. Wish everyone the best in learning :D you guys can do it! (I’ve been learning guitar for 3 years now and did purely tabs on my first year)
Yes indeed! IMO gradual progression through increasingly complex pieces is the way forward. It’s like a muscle - the more you work it, the stronger it gets.
Thank you so much!! I've been trying to learn this for so long, but it's so hard you're such a life saver and I've always been using tabs from other people but now I got it and I finished doing the intro of one of the songs I love!

Just a tip: When u arrange ur own fingerstyle cover, it's all in the chords of a song that u want to arrange with. But if u find the song itself extremely hard to be arranged, then you should put a capo on the specific fret that the key of the song perfectly suits just like Andrew did. U should have an immeasurable patience as well because there's no such thing as an easy way in arranging a fingerstyle cover. Hope this helps!! :D
Dude that's mad true. I use Guitar Pro which allows you to just import files now and transpose them so the playback is in a guitar friendly key. Absolute game changer for me!

OHHH FINALY!! SUPER WAITING FOR THIS Tutorial kinda.. video😂 THANKS ANDREW!❤❤ thanks for sharing this!
I had a different approach to it since I was self-taught from the beginning. Here’s how I learned it after a year of playing guitar:
I saw an arrangement of Sungha Jung called “River Flows in You”, I was so inspired and so I started learning it since it was summer and I was a bored 16 year old. I found a tutorial by Gareth Evans with the same technique as Sunga Jung. I picked up the tabs almost instantly because it was just numbers and the guitar strings were flipped. I practiced for an average of 6 hours a day for a week, mastered the song and only stopped to eat or til my fingertips turned blue since I was using a cheap $50 guitar. I eventually kept doing fingerstyle and picked up on the basic chords since they always say “like an E shape or an F shape” after a year of pure tab reading, I saw a song with the basic chord progression of C, Em/G, Am and F. I then started fiddling and pulling the strings instead of strumming it. It made little sense but I could hear it making sense, after a little more fiddling I managed to do a decent arrangement of Price Tag and tried arranging songs with the same chord progression like Count on Me and Hey Soul Sister along with adding percussive elements. Now I’m at my 3rd year of playing guitar and could arrange some songs, but I couldn’t do anything going above the 5th fret since I don’t know how to yet, but I’m hoping to learn more on how to arrange advanced songs with techniques like harmonics, and percussive hits on the guitar. Thank you for sharing your experience Andrew. All the best in the future. :D
Your qna and lesson stuff are really fun👌🏼
