I think the storyline is ..the feeling of gap in friendship you feel or the fellow friend feels when his best friend kinda falls into romantic love...maybe? it's a triangle love story where wonwoo is in love with the girl and mingyu is in love with wonwoo( as a friend well free to interpret anyway 😂) ...that chasing scenes tells a lot...

I love how they say interpret it your own way. Depending on how you look at it, there are two possible story lines. Both are technically love triangles but the love interests are different, and I love how they leave it to the viewer's interpration to have freedom in what they see. So happy you guys loved the song. This song was on repeat for me for years now, even before I new about seventeen~
Actually Wonwoo and Mingyu has great chemistry.. they're one of famous ship in svt(IMO their brotherhood is everything) and they're roommate...also Wonwoo's mother death anniversary and Mingyu's birthday is the same day

I love this duo a lot. They are roommates from their debut til they moved out in their own place together. My interpretation of this MV was that mingyu and wonwoo are bestie but mingyu scretely love wonwoo. SO the story is like wonwoo met the girl in the bar, mingyu saw it, he was heartbroken but nevertheless he accepted it and tried to support them from a distance. Then in the scene were wonwoo bring the girl hat and put on mingyu head, i feel like wonwoo tell mingyu he finally with her. And the scene of running, i feel wonwoo chasing the girl and mingyu chasing wonwoo. And the ending felt like wonwoo finally understood and came to mingyu and thus mingyu telling him lets go.

My interpretation of this song :
"How did love became love?" I think in this part , Mingyu was telling a story from his past (?) . As in he's remembering from the past . Friendship is a kind of love too , but it's different from romantic love .
In this story Mingyu was third wheeling the girl and Wonwoo . Like , it was pretty clear the the Wonwoo and the girl was feeling something for each other , and Mingyu was feeling something for her too .
When Mingyu said "Hiding the truth, pretending I'm fine" , he was standing alone in rain . "I'm hiding in the rain , always smiling " . He's in emotional turmoil .
Them running in the city might mean their experiences in life .
"I get closer , it gets further" - when they started getting involved in love , they felt their relationship growing apart . Three of them was seen enjoying and dancing which might mean they were actually friends .
Later Wonwoo came and gave Mingyu a hat , which was previously shown on the girl's head . Wonwoo choose friendship over romance .
In last scene , the girl wasn't seen with them but they walked out in the rain together - they gave up being jealous for love but chose friendship instead.
