- The all-new fifth-generation Range Rover has arrived in South Africa to once again move the goalposts in the super-luxury SUV segment. The new 2022 Range Rover features such luxuries as side-steps that slide into position electrically, massaging seats, a huge panoramic sunroof and even a boot compartment with a flip-up backrest - so that you can sit more comfortably when taking a break out in the wild! Under the new Range Rover's bonnet is a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 petrol borrowed from BMW, and it delivers strong performance and excellent refinement. Let's rather not mention the fuel economy, however!

Looks fabulous but the R3.5 mil price tag only makes ‘sense’ if you perceive this car’s closest rivals as being a Bentayga or Cullinan, otherwise is it really worth R1 mil more than a GLS? I’m not sure

@@neophasha9785 Well yes, I was just illustrating that the Range is placed in a weird market position with its pricing. Comparatively a ‘bargain’ to but not quite as special as a Bentley or Rolls but a lot more expensive that its ‘true’ competitors. A new Lexus LX or Mercedes GLS both come in at around the R2.3 mil mark each…is it really worth all that extra money over an LX or GLS? Unless you’re looking at a Maybach-GLS, the pricing doesn’t really make sense

You guys in SA are getting ripped off! 3.6 million Rand is around 205,000 USD. That vehicle in the US is $120,000 fully loaded.
And a cullinan costs double the price in SA

Not really being ripped off. To protect the local car manufacturers, there is a heavy import tax for foreign assembled vehicles.
The new range in kenya starts at the equivalent of 300k USD. I sat in the autobiography the other day. It costs over $400,000 USD here.

Rather opt for a Land Cruiser 300, LC 300 you got that confident it will last and things won't break as easily especially if you go off road. Doubt anyone with this new Range Rover would want to bash through the bush in it.

honestly, thats like recommending a Polo Vivo to someone looking into buying a C class Benz just because they have a gravel driveway. The Land Cruiser is not in the same class as the Range Rover.
@@namibgtv6 A bit unfair comparison of the Vivo to a Mercedes but fair enough not the same class but the Land Cruiser 300 is by far a better ownership overall, less things to go wrong with fewer headaches over the R2M mark. The Range Rover is superb luxury, perhaps too much luxury you can't take it off road anymore. It has become fragile for it supposed purpose built of going anywhere in my opinion though.
@@hopewellnzuza I hear what you are saying, I get you. But you need to note that even the LC300 isnt taken off-road that often, thats what LC 70's are for. The truth is the Range Rover is not in the same class as the LC. and also, the RR is not bought by people who intend to take it off-road - just as the LC300 isnt also bought primarily to go off-road.
The Range Rover is a fantastic luxury SUV that's also impeccable off road. I don't think it's worth a mansion though lol

Above a certain price point it isn't really about "value for money".
Their service when you do break down is to die for... used to be at least, before they introduced plenty customers with Evoques, XE's, and "beautiful" designs.

Totally agree with the reliability issues there. First to go among many other issues would be that air suspension, classic Range Rover pit. For R3.6M though it's probably easier to just put wheels on a very nice house and drive that on the road.
You guys are over exaggerating, reliability it is not as bad as most of you guy's here think it is, because most of the people who complain about these car are people who don't even know how to take care of them but compared to the Germans there's nothing different realiabity wise although I will tell that😂the guy in a BMW X5, his car will definitely disappear faster in 10 years than this Range Rover
The New Range Rover looks absolutely stunning. For R3,5 M I would hope that it's worth the asking price. Hopefully Land Rover have ironed out there quality issues of the previous generation. It's still the king of the luxury SUVs . The latest generation may be pricey but then you're getting a luxury SUV that you can take off road.

You nailed it. Absolutely ridiculous just like the Maybach. I would choose the X7 over it.
Depends on your disposable income and what you compare it with whether it seems worth the money to you. The R3.6million must be the very top of the range [rover]. It’s about £165,000 which will get you an entry level Bentley Bentayga or a tiny two seater McLaren. Or two well specified Ineos Grenadiers with change to also buy a Kia Sorento 4wd seven seater.

10:18 it's almost worth it to pay 3x more for a Cullinan which lets you pull down the centre flap in less than 6 hours with very satisfying resistance and tactility.

Actually, I think that the RR is actually a bit of a bargain compared to ugly cars like the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls Royce Cullinan...

I feel like this car is over-engineered, electric motors to release the tow bar, electric motors for the cup holders in middle seat and others. I don't know, seems like a disaster waiting to happen as you continue to have this car for years. Hopefully I'm wrong

Can it really go off-road? I know I’m the past they could but the newer models, can they? They seem to be more focused on luxury than adventure. Toyotas new land cruiser seems to be the newer luxurious adventure vehicle

If you're naive and have lots of money, you buy this car, but when you're informed and know a thing or two, you will look away and buy yourself a demo bentayga or GLS or the X7, don't get me wrong, this is a next level car, but it's not worth almost R4M, Nope!! This is a R2.5M car unfortunately at that bracket, more potent cars with low mileage like the X5M, M8 GLS63 PORSCHE are within range, I would get myself one of these and channel the difference split to getting a Rolex and or Peatek Phillipe or Audemars Piguet.

This is insane considering you can get GLS or GLE 63 under 3.5 million each and this car is no match for these 2.
the Rover feels more expensive inside, its not even a competition when it comes to pure quality of materials
Beautiful car, love it but all those moving parts and tech, massive headache if you are not planning to keep it for more than 5 years...

all the off road capabilities but then you get sold a vehicle without proper tyres. Those wheels won’t last a day in a proper off road scenario and you’ll be left waiting in the middle of nowhere for a recovery cruiser to come along.
