Sleeping Giant was an American Christian metal band from Redlands, California and Salt Lake City, Utah. All the members of the band, minus drummer Matt Weir, played in the band xDEATHSTARx.

Thanks for the listen Shane! Sleeping Giant are definitely a cornerstone hardcore Christian band. As far as the tattoos go...my opinion/belief/understanding as a heavily tattooed Jesus follower is that there is one verse in all of scripture that directly address not tattooing the body. It’s in the Old Testament in Leviticus. A lot of times that verse gets taken out of context to say that a Christian should not get tattooed, however the context of that verse is about doing things to draw attention of false gods , it was Old Testament and about keeping the law...in a nutshell....ultimately my friend, Jesus fulfilled the law and through his death, burial, and resurrection, we are no longer bound by the law. When Jesus said “it is finished”, He meant it. So basically the ONLY thing that dictates my salvation is Jesus. I’m saved, not because of what I do or may not do, not because of tattoos or no tattoos,but because of what He has already done for me... and the Good News is that is free to all who accept it. Take it from a filthy rotten sinner who has done nothing for God to love me... but did because that’s who He is, I’m just a beggar telling other beggars where I found food!
Never got to see SG live, but always appreciated their unapologetic style of Christian hardcore! As always thanks for the listen and for the fun content! Can’t wait to see who ya check out next! Peace my friend!!!!

This was a band rescued me with a breath of fresh air regarding being rock solid for Jesus Christ and not compromising. My favorite song by this band is Sons of Thunder. Jesus Christ saves you from the wages of sin…which death and hell. The free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour is available for all who will believe.
Jesus is coming back with with fire in his eyes, riding on a white horse with a sword and a tattoo on his thigh that says "King of Kings and Lord of Lords". Come soon my King and wage war.

I’m an old school pitter and I can tell you Sleeping giant pits are just as crazy. God said don’t do as the pagans do so by those standards no tattoos aren’t allowed, that said everyone man walks their own path of struggles, pains, and life’s hard choices before they find God. That’s why he sent his son Jesus the one true Mashiach, Messiah, so that our sins could be washed white as snow. We don’t judge a man by his past but by the fruits of his spirit. Shalom my friend

I have seen Sleeping Giant four times. The are excellent live. I miss them.
My church community has no prohibition on tattoos.

I've seen this band so many times, and not a Christian myself, but it's just the energy they bring to the table. The pits are violent but this is more a 'interaction' kind of band, so more gang vocals with the crowd, stage dives, swarming the stage. Positive, wild, energetic. Great band to car mosh your friends when a track pops on.
I've always liked this song from Sleeping Giant, so no complaints here. I have not gotten into too much Hardcore (Christian or otherwise), but the few (Christian) bands I have heard have been good. I need to get into more of them though.
I am not sure how many Hardcore bands there are in Christian music, but I believe Six Feet Deep, Focused, and Strongarm are the more famous ones. Six Feet Deep's first album (Struggle), and Focused's first album (Bow) are great in my opinion.
Came from the OC JC hardcore scene, saw bands like Unashamed and Focused to many times to count, but when I came across this later gen stuff was happy to jump back on board….

In this world you are welcome tattoos, piercings. Doesn’t matter who you are or what your past or present is. Everyone is welcome. Listen to whoremonger. And yes moshing is definitely allowed. It’s just the positive message they bring. If though your broken, hurt etc. you are still loved by the most high. Most of their music has a press on keep fighting feel vibe to it. I could go on but that’s my take on them. Love them. Still wish they were they a band

There's lots of great Christian bands of all kinds of genres. There are influential hardcore bands that started out as Christian bands, but have since moved away for various reasons like:
Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Zao, and The Devil Wears Prada.
Other great Christian bands with heavy/hardcore sensibilities would include:
Project 86, Blindside, Disciple, Living Sacrifice, Oh Sleeper, Blessthefall, Skillet, Dead Poetic, Beloved, Sent by Ravens, and Wolves at the Gate.

To my knowledge, the only allusion to tattoos, comes from Leviticus. In context, it’s telling Christian’s not to ritually cut, brand or mark themselves “for the dead.” It was, essentially, to distinguish them from Canaanites, who in sacrificial rituals, would do such things. Personally, I believe tattoos are as much of a sin, as eating pork, or women’s faces being uncovered. I do have quite a bit of ink tho, so I might be biased. 🤷🏻♂️

MOSHING FOR THE MESSIAH! 🤘👼 "Is this like nicest mosh pit in the world because it's Christian?" Honey, I know plenty of people who profess to be Christians but they are not nice at all! If bands and songs like this were around when I going to Vacation Bible School every summer in the early to mid 70's, maybe I would have paid more attention....this definitely kicks ass over Michael, Row the Boat Ashore! Judaism and the Torah frowns upon, if not outright forbids, tattoos. I don't think Christianity says anything against them but if it does, then there sure are thousands and thousands people with images of the praying hands of Christ emblazoned on their flesh for life who are in for mess of trouble when they meet their maker!
It doesn't say anything about marking your body with tattoos It says marking your body with runes. From my understanding people used to cut their flesh and stick runes underneath their skin
The law was for Israel. Also they were specific sort tattoos for the dead. Spirit leads believers into all truth. Where the Word is explicit no shakes where it is silent let moderation rule
They’re good but they are no Petra. Haha . Joking. This is awesome. When I was a young church going lad all the good music I liked was “ Devil Music” there was no alternatives like what this band is doing.
Ah, WB, Petra...takes me back. You're right about that though. Sleeping Giant rocks it for a newer gen while still satisfying the rock taste of us old Petra and Rez Band fans.

So, any tattoo that is honoring God is fine, any tattoo or any sin that you did after or before you are saved is paid for by Jesus's blood.
