I've always looked at professional sorts as such a freakishly weird thing. A GAME that grown adults obsess over and operate like they are in life or death warlike situations, unreasonably pushing themselves and putting their body's at risk for serious injury. A GAME. And they get paid more than nearly anyone else. For a game that is taken more seriously than health and survival.i remember the first time I was at a kids football game a a player went down. I knew I that instant that I'd never be encouraging my kid to play football. I remember feeling sick to my stomach as the entire crowd held their breath to see if the kid was ok, I can't imagine knowingly putting my kids at risk like that. For a game...
I have never been to a football game, havent a clue what the rules are. Stay clear of football fans, really. I might have a attitude about fans but this conversation is valuable to me. Roy, thank you. Big fan. These 2 men are worth listening to -
Maybe those type of injuries are common but the short term and long term effect are unique for each person. People are taking chances when they decide to play organized sports.
Roy referenced that MNF game from the '94 season. I was at that game and had my portable TV at the time so I remember the play vividly. Anyway, it was Napoleon McCallum (not Napoleon Kaufman as Roy said) that had the gruesome "Theisman-ish" injury. ruclips.net/video/kc0lD6Rlt8c/видео.html
It's pretty clear the NFL and the players dont really care about the injuries, they're all in it to make as much money as they can and get out, hopefully still able to walk and function. If the players did care about themselves and each other, these head butts and head targeting other players would cease, toot-suite. imho, they also need to change the rules and make more offensive players eligible to get the ball through a pass or hand off, like the Offensive Tackles. Make them eligible to receive a pass or hand off, it would open up the game a lot more exciting. Every player on a basketball court, hockey rink and soccer field can get a pass and try to score. The same should be for football rather than making 5 guys be big, overweight and immobile for the most part.
@@taniawilliams3427 Its a full contact sport, tf they expect? 🤣 Most of their job entails charging head first into another full grown athletic man. The only way to stop injuries is to stop playing full contact sports or make the NFL Flag Football.
I sure miss Trevor, but you should make Roy Wood the anchor of the daily show and have Trevor make some guest appearances
Yes !
This is one of the episodes I have seen. Thank you Ron for doing what you do. Love this podcast
I love listening to Roy on my Tuesday morning drive to work!

I love you Roy, but Nate was not the person for this interview. Eric Reid is your guy. Thank you in advance.
Damar Hamlin has no NFL pension!
No disrespect to Nate but Eric Reid would’ve been a better interview on this topic.
How about we find a better favorite sport? Yep, I can hear the screaming ...
Roy....? Are you our daddy???
National felon league
If you don't want to make millions of dollars playing a ballgame don't do it
Of course they want to play ball games. But it should not endanger their health to that extent.
