  • In this video I'll show how to add a zipper closure to the Teloujay bag. Please read the safety information at the bottom before beginning.
    You'll need to own the Teloujay pattern, which can be purchased from my website: countrycowdesi...
    .
    To add the zipper panel, you'll need the following:
    11" zipper tape & 1 zipper pull
    Exterior fabric to match the top of your Teloujay, cut:
    2 measuring 11 1/4" x 1 1/4"
    2 measuring 7 3/4" x 1 5/8"
    Lining fabric, cut:
    2 measuring 7 3/4" x 1 5/8"
    SAFETY
    In this video I use various tools and equipment. Please ensure you only attempt this at home if you are experienced at using the tools and have read and followed the necessary safety instructions provided by the manufacturer of each tool. This video is a very quick overview and I do not cover the full safety precautions in this video. Carry it out at your own risk. I cannot be held accountable for injuries or mistakes made when following this tutorial.

    Thanks Jo!! I didn't have the brain power to do this on my own and now you've made it SO easy! Thank you!!

    Thank you for a great video. Can I ask a question about the zip please? When you pinch it and hand-stitch it, is the pinched section section on the right side or wrong side of the zip?

    Thanks for this great method for adding the zipper top. Already finished my lining section. Now have to wait for my hardware to arrive in the mail. Love this bag already.

    Great idea. I think that I’d like to put two snaps for those closing.

    I have made this bag two times & absolutely love it! Would it be possible to get written directions for the zipper?

    • @CountryCowDesigns

      So glad to hear that. I’m thinking of adding the written instructions but it won’t be for a while....I’ve got a list of things I’m working on first, but eventually I’ll get there 😆

      Me too - I'd love a written copy if you had time. I've done it once and about to start again but I go backwards and forwards on the video so written would be truly useful.... thanks Jo.

    This is a great tutorial! 💖 I only had to rip it out 3 times - 😊 - but I finally got it right! I will definitely be using this for other bags because I love to have the zipper closing. Thank you so much for doing this!!! Just one question pertaining to attaching it to the outer bag, everything gets folded in (zipper top), correct?

    Thank you for this, very well explained. Is your lining waterproof canvas, if so can you say where it was purchased.

      Sorry it’s not. It’s just plain cotton. But I’ve been eyeing up some waterproof canvas on Etsy recently and debating trying it 🤔

    Thank you so much for doing this awesome video. I really like the look of recessed zippers. I’ve been waiting for this to start my Teloujay. Sorry about your finger...🩹 I am constantly hurting my hands in some way 😏

    The bag in this video appears to be the larger version. If so, what zipper length & fabric measurements are used for the smaller size? Thanks

    • @CountryCowDesigns
      @CountryCowDesigns  3 года назад

      Hey, it’s the same measurements for both sizes because the large and small are only different in height so the same zip panel fits both sizes 😁

    awesome-I've made 3 Teloujay bags without the zip-will be fun to make more bags with-thanks for explaining it so well!! Do you have a link to buy the metal end? I do like that look! I'm in the states-maybe Amazon has it?

      I think they’re available from a few places but I know Siahswag has them and she’s in the USA 😁

    thank you very much. small question (i am a beginner so may b it is stupid but I don't understand yet:) if you do this only after you add it to the outside of the bag, or do you connect the sides of the lining to the outside of the bag and then do the zipper the way you show on the video? ( i hope it is clear).

    • @CountryCowDesigns
      @CountryCowDesigns  3 года назад +1

      So after this, you connect the top of the lining to the top of the exterior and sew the tops together. Then when you turn it right sides out and the lining is inside, the zipper panel will be inside too, just a little lower than the top of the lining. I have a full tutorial for the Teloujay if it helps - you can see how it’s constructed after this because it’s constructed exactly the same at the end, whether you have the zipper panel or not. Hope that makes sense?

    • @CountryCowDesigns
      @CountryCowDesigns  3 года назад

      What do you mean? The idea to add a zipper panel? No, it’s something I’ve been doing since I started writing patterns. There was a zipper panel like this in my first pattern 👍🏻

    I hope you redo this video some day since the camera angle is not actually on pointe with what should be seen.

    • @CountryCowDesigns
      @CountryCowDesigns  2 года назад

      Hi, could you let me know which bit is not visible? I usually find that the overhead camera shot is best overall but if there’s a problem with it then it’s probably the same in all my videos as I use the same angle for all my videos now 😬 in which case, we need to make a change. Thanks!
