    If you want to give it a little more color, try steaming a small beet until a knife easily slides into it, and puree 1-2 tablespoons of the beet in with the rest of the mix. Beet is a strong dye, so add a little at a time until you get just slightly pink. It sounds weird, but it works as long as you don't use too much.

      That's a great idea. I usually put a small amount of diced carrots in a veg paté to get some colour, but this is even better.

    I always love your videos and thank you soo much for sharing the recipes. My boys (twin 9 year old) always ask me “ can I see her video? “ every time I watch it. We do veggies once a week and sometimes don’t know what to cook so this is really good. We will try it tomorrow. Thanks again and enjoy the weekend!

    I would like to try this recipe, it seems to be very tasty!
    One question though: are the baking or steaming optional steps for doing it or are there mandatory?
    Because the pate seems ready to be consumed after processing all the ingredients, which are already cooked.

      Substitute the tofu with more garbanzo and white beans. Just double the measurements for each. Enjoy!

    The color of this vegan pate look * real * but the sound of video is hard to hear .!? About how long , how high degree when you but in the oven.? ( for steam in hot water also ) .Thanks for share.! I watch steps you performance from video , understood

      Hi Nghia, if baking, it's 400 F for 20 minutes. If steaming, it's also 20 minutes over Medium High heat. You can also find the written recipe on my blog runawayrice.com/appetizers/vegetarian-pate-faux-gras/ Good Luck!

    Hello chi. I don't have meat grinder so can I use blender instead is it ok or not.

    Do you think this will retain its flavor/texture if frozen? I'm a single fellow, and don't think I'll be able to eat all of this in time! I'll certainly make it my next family/friend dinner though!

      Yes, the pate freezes well without impacting the flavor and texture. Be sure to seal it well before freezing.

      Thank you kindly for the reply: I'm currently planning a charity dinner, and I know there are people who are vegetarian and we need to have options for them. I think I'll make a BIIIIG portion of this at home, freeze it up, and bring it over to the event this autumn. Thank you kindly. I promise I'll test it out first to make sure I make it right frozen.

    Will the taste be preserved if I don't roast the mushroom but sautéed instead?

      I think roasting makes the pate more fragrant by sautéing is fine too.

    Does it taste like pate gan? Or is it only the texture that's similar?

      I want to know as well, because liver has a very unique taste. There's nothing in the listed ingredients than can possibly mimic that taste...so I'm guessing it just looks like pate and the texture is similar to pate but it doesn't TASTE like pate, which is the reason why I eat pate. :)

      The title literally is "Vegetarian Pate / FAUX Gras." And "Pâté" is French for "paste". No one is trying to kid anyone.
