This was so fab. My husband goes with me sometimes to fabric stores but only to find things for his trains. For him to pick a pattern & fabric, well, I just don’t know about that but that is an experiment waiting to happen….LOL

I made some wide leg pants from a simplicity pattern last week. They ate not very high waisted, but the pattern could be easily adjusted to make them high waisted :) they were a simplicity pattern

My Dad LOVES shopping and he isn't allowed to come along to JoAnn's because he always encourages my Mom to buy WAAAYYYY more than she planned, unless one of us need something very specific that he can be sent on a mission to hunt down. He is very good at finding things in stores. At home? 😬😬😬 Let's just say there's some stuff we don't even mention anymore.
Beyond that, you two are the definition of relationship goals. Too cute! And you're lucky to have so much more apparel fabric to pick from! I'm surprised you like rayon for some reason, but probably because I've seen all your gorgeous high quality cottons and spent too much time watching all the historical CosTube ladies. 😄

the lace up top reminds me of the 70s! and cosigned on the huge shoulders of the 80s💜💜
I had that lace up shirt (with sleeves) in bright green edged with wide white lace sewn by mom for my senior year of high school- 1978.
As usual, you guys make me lol and big smile! Love the patterns and fabrics, can hardly wait to see finished garments! I made a very similar strappy sundress and the camisole top back in my teens, late '70's. Absolutely some of my favorites and I even still have them, although there's no way I can ever fit into those tiny sizes again! The sundress was blue floral and I made several of the camisole tops, one of them being white eyelet fabric! Fond memories!

Rob looooooves his blue shades. When he learned that blue lit up his eyes, for the longest time, anything that went in his closet was blue. I had to do an intervention.

This is every non-sewing spouse’s worst nightmare! It’s even worse when you take your kids with you to the fabric store. I laughed out loud when you were looking at the earrings and saying “This is so cute!” And Rob is like “Uh, huh.” because he couldn’t care less. But he’s still there for you. Very cute fabrics. And you two are such total relationship goals. I had a smile on my face for the whole viewing.

that was our hope. We didn’t want to flaunt it, but we wanted to take everyone outside for a minute!
It is Thursday and I am ready for the weekend. I am a history professor and a history teacher and it is Spring break next week. So in-between catching up on grading and reading proofs of essays and being nagged by my board 16yo son, I am going to knit an adorable tank top for my cousin for her birthday. Also I have the urge to pull my sewing machine and /or serger out of the closet and do some refashioning. Love you both. Would love some Rob childhood stories since he grew up one state over and I am pretty sure we are close to if not the same age.

HAHAHA! I bravely went into a Joann on Saturday at dinnertime and it was empty. I had coupons!!! I was so happy to have escaped my Covid jail for an hour (that includes driving there and back). Pattern books are meant to be sat down with and pored over, studied, compared. No decision is made quickly! Every fabric is touched! Rob's hit-and-run made me nervous. Excuse me while I go take some nice anti-anxiety meds.
🤣😂🤣😂lolololooool!!! At one point he was literally running from me in the store. I’m glad you got out for a short escape, I think doing things safely is good for our brains...happy brain, happy body. Though, I admit I couldn’t bring myself to sit us down at the tables with books! (plus I think Rob would have imploded at that level of pattern research...)

aw, love this! here in the uk we don't have joanns, so i kept pausing the video to salivate over all those patterns and all that fabric! also not going anywhere, no shops open, so it was nice to go shopping with you! I can only get my husband shopping if I promise food and beer (ie leave him in a pub). we nearly got divorced on our honeymoon at a night market in thailand when he tried to make me stop shopping. at a night market in thailand!!!! then we found a food stall and some beer and we were both happy.
🤣🤣🤣but a night market honest to god sounds like the most romantic thing EVER

😊😊😊thankya! This was Rob’s first time IN a Joanns (as in, more than walking patiently and silently behind me for 10 minutes on a birthday before I released him of birthday duties 🤣) so he had me rolling.
Omg...that laced up 'corset 'top...my very first date with , (my husband_ of 'way too long '38 yr...we dated 1981)...I had alter a maxi dress pattern into a laced up corset top with a maxi skirt...use ribbon as the laces BUT wore a plaid, Pendleton wool men's shirt as my cover up/outer wear! Heck, it's chilly I'm San Francisco in Spring.
He thought...now that's a girl who has a unique look!
