    Both are common problems with JL+JT. The Body, Doors, Hood and Hinges are Aluminum and that is causing the Bubbling.
    The Battery can be solved several ways. The Easiest and Less Expensive, is to Place a Jumper Wire across 2 Terminals in the Fuse Box. That allows the Small Battery to be recharged without draining the Large Battery. Another method is Removing the Negative Cable from the Small Battery located on the Large Battery Negative Post Connection and remove a Fuse from the Fuse Box. or Delete the Small Battery completely. I changed out my Small Battery from the Fender Well and it wasn't hard to do at all. the Hardest part was disconnecting the Front Turn Signal connector to remove the Fender.

    The rust on the hinges are due to dissimilar metals coming to contact (aluminum and steel) which causes galvanic effect and consequently corrosion. Some professionals recommend to put a thin layer of insulating material between the hinge and the hood to avoid this.

    Paint blistering or bubbling caused by galvanic corrosion is generally covered under the Corrosion Warranty. The warranty is valid for 5 years after the in-service date on the vehicle. If you are the first owner, the in-service date should be the same date as the date on your purchase or lease paperwork.

    I have a 2018 Jeep JL Sport. Do yourself a favor and do what I did. Locate the negative ground wire for the small battery to the main battery and disconnect it. Go to the fuse box and remove fuse # 42 ESS. You will never have that problem again. The small battery is only for the ESS Electronic Start/Stop. I actually removed that small battery in my jeep. No issues.

    First, there are hundreds of videos on how to replace the small battery. It is easy. Second, your JL doors are aluminum. Not rusting. Bad paint, maybe. Also, just a thought, dis-similar metals, steel hinges with aluminum doors and hood could be causing this.

  • @TealOxAdv
    @TealOxAdv 7 месяцев назад +2

    10:38 Typically, they replace the doors. As noted by others, this is galvanic corrosion caused by electrolysis between the aluminum panels and steel hinges. Should be covered by the corrosion warranty if it is within five years of the original purchase date.

    I have heard of Jeep having some corrosion issues. The hinge areas look to be what they are talking about, dissimilar metal corrosion caused by aluminum mating up to steel. The other corrosion looks like water being trapped in pockets on the other side of the door panels. Road salt or even salty air down where you are parked will cause some of that. I lived in Corpus Christi for awhile and the vehicles suffered rust problems.

    • @SHARINGJOURNEY

      @@SHARINGJOURNEY if you were in the Twin Cities area, the vehicles have massive corrosion issues due to the road salt. I bought a Chrysler minivan from that area some years back. After a few years one of the doors rusted entirely out. The other doors were ok, no rust. I think in some cases it could be simply poor quality metal. These days, if I want a vehicle I buy it from just a few select states due to rust issues. Makes buying a vehicle no easy task but I just can't see paying the prices that are asked and getting a pile of rust.

    Had a similar problem with my Gladiator. You can remove the small/aux battery completely and wire everything into the main battery. Pretty easy to do. You don't have to go through the wheel well. It's easier to remove the fuse box and get to it that way. There are some other videos on YT that show you how to do the aux battery delete.
    The paint issue is a known issue with some of the early JL's. I believe there was (is?) a class action lawsuit about it.

    Get into a Jeep dealer and document this under the corrosion warranty asap! This is a common issue due to the aluminum body panels. Google the problem to read about it. If the vehicle is less than 5 years old you should have coverage. Unfortunately it’s not something that can be easily remedied. Jeep may grind it off and repaint but the issue will come back. So frustrating!

    You should have stopped at the CJ. Maybe a YJ. Anything past the 4.0 straight 6 is trash. I got a trail hawk renegade and the warranty covered the new transmission for 11000 dollars. The radio went out and that was 3000. Then a water leak showed up and they said the roof track was broken and it would cost me 11000 for a new rack to be installed 😂. A new Jeep renegade was 27k. I had them flexseal the track and the leak stopped. That was 500 bucks. They are all junk. All of them.
