I'm so excited to see her on tour! I met her while she was in Les Miserable in Texas, I was over the moon when I saw that they had casted her for Meg in this production!
Yeah (watch out for spoilers below) I was surprised too but right after I saw it I was like, "Well, love never dies...but Christine does!" XD But also yeah a prequel to everything like the original Phantom and everything, that would actually be really interesting... I've read the original book of Phantom, by Gaston Leroux, and there's actually quite a bit of information there about all the characters that you could use to make a prequel...hmm... let's go propose our idea to Andrew Lloyd Webber...XD ~:~
My take on Meg Giry's journey in this show. It should have been her mother who fell for Erik and Meg should've been pissed that her mom was focused more on him than her. Meg falling for Erik felt very sudden, very odd, and out of character. Madame Giry in the first show has been very pushy as a ballet teacher and Madame Giry had actual history with Erik. It would've fit better with her.
Love Never Dies really screws Meg's character over. And Raoul's. And Madam Giry's. I love Mary Michael; I saw her on Broadway as Christine. And I have a personal friend in the touring cast. I really wish they were all in a better show, because the story of LND bothers me to no end.
MC Wyman The Australian version, the script I mean, Meg is different but in the London script she was a total bitch. The Australian one she’s still very sweet, she’s just more depressed. Tbh I’m not too surprised Raoul became an alcoholic. There’s something not quite right about marrying a childhood best friend from ten years ago within 2 weeks of reuniting. That’s just my opinion tho. And Madame Giry, it doesn’t completely screw her over. Tbh I feel like it goes more into depth with her.
JulietteMarie It turns Madam Giry into a straight up vindictive villain and Meg into a crazy hooker. The thing that bothers me the most about this show is that the story of Phantom is complete at the end of the first musical. Everyone's arcs are complete, and the Phantom learns his lesson. The script in LND (and yes, I'm talking about the Australian version) is full of contrived bullshit to pull all these characters together again and completely undo lots of what made their characters so strong to begin with. Christine wasn't a feminist icon in the original, but the resolution to the conflict was based on her actions and choices. This Musical turns her into a pawn. She has no agency in her own story.
@@JulietteVeronica1201 It's not within two weeks tho? We first have Hannibal where Raoul sees Christine again, then Il Muto which is probably a couple of weeks later? Then we have a six month time skip to the Masquerade ball where they first get the script of Don Juan, which they still need to rehearse so that's likely another 2 months until opening night. So the original Phantom takes place over the span of what is possibly almost a year.
I think in London kinda didn’t dig deep, in her character analysis, and kinda killed meg’s character. I think now going into it, Australian/new production is so much better! You can see that she’s kind of emotional unstable, and she has some issues. We can see that now! I’m still kind of upset about meg accidentally killing Christine, but I think it really ties into in.
D Mc I just saw it in Detroit and I actually really liked it. Apparently they've changed it up a lot since the original production and the Australian version and people are liking it more now. (But if you don't like it that's okay; I'm just sharing my thoughts.) ~:~
Mary Michael is so good as Meg and she's also super nice in person! I really hope the show makes it to Broadway; it's awesome. :D

I love when Ryan does interviews! He is so genuine with his questions and how he listens to the answers.

I am impressed by how Mary was able to make such a messed up story sound so good in the interview lol! (Still, would see the show just for her)
Mary Michael is AMAZING in the show! I saw it last month, so good!!!
I love that she’s playing Meg! LND’s score is GORGEOUS and I’m really excited to see this.

Yeah and Meg is like so much younger than the phantom
@@athenavictoria9731 oh wow I didn't realize how close Madame giry and the phantom were in age
@@dorothymiskovic7202 Meg and Christine are the same age tho... So that can just as well be said for the original Phantom
