I use Dove Unscented Bar Soap and Mitchum Gel (fragrance free) daily.
Wear these because they don't clash with fragrances (and because they work great).
For special occasions I'd use a body wash that matches a fragrance.

Degree men deodorant and Dove men elements sage.
Fragrance Bros. I prefer to wash with virgin blood.
dove body wash (which is now sulfate free) and every man jack citrus.
i use gillette deodorant and head and shoulders shampoo by the time i get ready and go out their smell is no longer there but my colonge is, i really dont worry about shampoo and deodorant their smell dont last as much.
The matching deodorants don't last all day, total garbage and expensive. Dove sticks last over 48 hours, smells like soap and they have an unscented one.

Deodorant without antiperspirant is absolutely useless. There are some unscented (or very mild scented) antiperspirants like "Clinique for men", "Biotherm Homme" or even stuff like "Dry Dry"
I use an arm and hammer deodorant without aluminum since that's what causes pit stains.
Could the next in this series be what lotion/moisturizer to use? I can't find anything truly unscented
If I wear a fragrance, I use an unscented deodorant. Where I work I'm not comfortable wearing a fragrance, but I still want to smell good and that's when I use designer deo sticks. My current favourite is Eaux des Baux from L'occitane. Fun fact; the Nivea Sensitive shower gel for men smells very close to Dior Homme Sport.
Kirk's Castile Original Coco bar soap; fragrance free. Mitchum Unscented Gel Antiperspirant and Deodorant. Suave Professional pH Balanced 2-in-1 shampoo. Less than $4 for a 32oz bottle. Body lotion is Aveeno fragrance free.
As far as soap, I think the best is sandalwood soaps from India- I sometimes use the bar as room scent- just place in front of a fan and perfume the whole place for days. My fave stick deodorants would be Tabac Original and Chanel Egoiste- they seem to have alcohol which makes the scent seem stronger. Tabac is by far the best for the price-- like $13!
Oh, and the best shampoo of all time is (was) Dunhill D. Best scent and left my hair thick and luxuriant. Unfortunately, it is all but unavailable now. Too bad.
I use Stirling Soap Company soaps and Crystal deodorant. It's hard to beat the Sharp dressed man soap that you featured in the video.

Do people ever just use a deodorant for there main smell? Instead of cologne.
I used to be this guy until I started using perfume regularly.
This may sound weird but I try and mix my scents with my body wash. When I have a barbershop or heavier scent I use American Crew Body wash and hair gel but if I’m wearing a light aquatic or citrus scent I use Moroccan Arian Oil Shampoo and hair gel
