Wow you guys. So many talented women have been able to voice this magnificent STORM. I'm honored to be a favorite!!!! She was a favorite of mine!!
Your voice is so nostalgic it brings me to tears. When I think of Storm I always think of you. ❤
With all due respect ma'am, your not just a favorite but a golden standard. Your to storm what the late Kevin conroy was to batman or josh keaton to spiderman. While the show came out before I was born it was a honor to introduced to the queen of wakanda/ mistress of the elements through you. Thank you for your service.

Mac Morris I am just happy they brought sistas to play Storm. I love Iona Morris the best as well.
Mac Morris YES finally someone else who recognises the pure gold that Iona Morris was as the voice of Storm! She was phenomenal in the role, her performance was so majestic and strong as well as being vulnerable and feminine when needed. I HATE that Iona Morris only voiced Storm for 2 seasons because thats the Storm I know and fell in love with. When Alison Sealy-Smith took over the character just deteriorated IMO because of Sealy-Smith's pompous and portentous delivery and performance. It ruined the experience of the animated series for me completely.

Iona Morris Alison Sealy-Smith Dawnn Lewis are the storm voices I grew up with also Susan Dalian Impressed me her work from Wolverine and the X-men to MvC3/UMvC3 it’s sad we didn’t see more of Susan
Spoken like a true cartoon-head. None of you know Storm. The only time Storm was ever done right was Andi Chapman in PotX, but Susan Dalian's MvC3 (only!) was good, too. Jill Scott gets points for attempting the accent.

Iona Morris Rules as the voice of Storm!!!!! The most powerful voice ever and she has the look. She could have played Storm so well and would have given the character the power Storm commands!
Growing up reading her in the comics, she was exactly the same, whether thinking or verbally - I think it added to her regal quality and inner strength - and while it's not to everyones taste, I enjoyed the dramatic flair it gave her :)

The Jill Scott one is a revelation. I’ve never heard Storm with such a strong accent before. Iona Morris is my gold standard for storm’s tone.

Iona Morris and Alison Sealy Smith are the best in my opinion. Then again, they are the ones that I grew up with.
I am all for Iona Morris. That is the voice I will ALWAYS hear.
In real life, Storm would have to have a very rare accent. Her baby years were in New York (but she already had the developed mind of a little girl), spent her early childhood in Egypt, spent a small bit of her early teen years in South Africa before settling in Kenya until her early 20s and returning back to New York. That's four distinct dialects that she would have been exposed to during formative periods of her life. Her accent would likely be a blend of them.
Wow Jill Scott was a pleasant surprise! I personally love the thick accent. Alexandra shipp did a pretty decent job at it in Apocalypse.

Iona Morris actually voiced storm from 1992 - 1994 , and Alison sealy Smith actually voiced storm from 1993 - 1997 !
Iona Morris!! I remember being disappointed when they changed voice actors in Season 2 -- and to add insult to injury, they later dubbed Alison Sealy Smith's voice over Iona's for the Season 1 reruns. Luckily, they restored Iona's voice in the DVD release. :)

Those are three of my 4 choices as well. Alison Sealy-Smith gets a lot of flak, though, and I don't think she deserves it. She gives some magnificent performances in the later parts of the show...when they actually focus on her, anyway.

I do too! I think they really took into consideration that Storm was born and raised in Africa. Sure, she's been in America for years, but I hardly take Storm for the type to take a new accent to fit in.

@@tourepruitt9371 I loved Jill's thick accent, but I think Morris' accent was more accurate. Storm was raised in America, by an American dad, since she was about 5 or 6. That means her accent was likely an even blend of both parents. When speaking in a Kenyan dialect, she probably spoke it perfectly. Her Egyptian was probably very fluant as well. People don't just change their accents as they get older, unless they consciously attempt to. But she would've had no reason to.
I say Iona Morris is the best Storm voice in my opinion. Her voice sounds powerful and fits Storm very well.
Iona Morris brings back so many childhood memories. She embodied someone who commanded attention and with so much conviction. I appreciate you making this video for us 😍🙌🏼

Iona Morris, closely followed by Alison Sealy Smith. However if we're looking at accuracy given Storms origins its hands down Jill Scott. She is the only one who actually delivered an African accent

Iona Morris then Alison Sealey Smith.... Iona sounds more reverent while Alison is a close copy but I love Jill Scott's version too!
They should have chosen a better clip of Allison tho! It was the one time where Storm really seemed out of character. But she pulled it in by the end of the episode

Allison Nealy Smith said… “They gave me a recording of Iona, and asked me to duplicate this sound. It was nothing I had ever heard before, not necessarily African or Caribbean, but something very round, very full and special”. While I’m happy she was able to come close, Iona deserves her flowers for giving life to Storm. She is the best voice actor, not just for Storm, but no other comic characters’ voice, tone and delivery can compare to what Iona did with Storm. Congratulations to all who have had to opportunity to voice the Character, job well done. Iona… you are Storm!!!
Cheryl and Dawnn lewis were also underrated as X-MEN LEGENDS 1,2 will always be underrated gems

90s X-Men cartoon definitely!!! But I had NO idea Dawnn Lewis Danielle Nicolette or Jill Scott ever voiced Storm!!! 😱😱 Talk about mind BLOWN!!! I knew cree summer because I recognize her voice from Batman Beyond and of course A Different World (she's an AMAZING talent and super underrated)

Alison Sealy Smith is the Storm I grew up with and still love.
Iona Morris is the one I grew up with. So obviously I'm going to say her. But going forward, I really do hope they do a better job at casting women with a little bit thicker African accents. Never made any sense to me why Storm always sounded like she was American (with the exception of a few actresses) when she is not. Ororo is African! Give her a beautiful African accent. Get someone like a Lupita Nyong’o, her accent is adorable!
Storm was actually born in New York City but was raised in Africa. But yes she should still have an accent.

Well Ororo was born in us and her dad was American. But she did spent most of her childhood in Africa.

Storm has a clear and demanding yet soothing voice. I strongly dislike when actresses portray her voice as some old woman.
I never knew Dawn voiced storm but she was more mature in the older episodes of X-men. That is why her voice sounded so commanding.
Definitely Kirsten Williamson and Dawnn Lewis. Storm is best when she has deep, powerful and commanding voice. Same reason why Danielle Nicolet is probably my least favorite.
Cheryl Carter. I love when she says, I feel as strong as A hurricane!!!! It gave me chills every time.

Jill Scott surprised me. I'd like to hear her as Storm more often.
I grew up with Iona Morris and Alison Sealy-Smith, but my favorite voice actresses for her thus far have been Dawnn Lewis, who gave the character a terrific mix of dignity and understtaed danger, and Susan Dalian, who took the best aspects of Morris and Sealy-Smith's performances and brought them into the 21st century.
Iona Morris is and always will be the absolute best voice for Storm! Her performance is perfection.

Alison Sealy Smith to me is the best Storm voice. She has the best sayings and quotes Storm ever had using her powers. "Lighting, deliver this place from darkness." "Winds rise and sweep the thorns from our path." "Crack the heavens, remove this abomination." Loved her voice.

Her voice was amazing and so dramatic. “How could you lie to me you BUTCHER?! How could you make me love you...?” She was so strong and then vulnerable in that couple of seconds of dialogue.

I grew up hearing Kirsten Williams on tv and especially Cheryl Carter & Dawnn Lewis by playing as Storm all the time on X-Men Legends & Marvel: Ultimate Alliance... And I *LOVE* Iona Morris' Storm ! Can't get enough, and Jill Scott's Storm is also an honorable mention.
Dawnn Lewis was a good Storm in the _X-Men Legends_ game sequel, and I love it.

You don't need someone with a "natural accent" you just need to ACT like you do vocally and if you can't tell the difference between a authentic accent and a fake one, than it's a success for the actor which their job. Which is the whole point of acting, pretending to be someone that you're not.

Iona man, what an awesome voice. What I really like about her voice is she has pauses.. she holds words it like poetry how she delivers her lines.
Williamson, Dalian and Scott I like the best. I like the deeper toned, calm but commanding voicing for her character. Some of the other voice actors add too much inflection or something---making her character sound overdramatized...kind of hokey. I like her sounding more steadfast.
Iona Morris. No comparison. Her voice as Storm had such a commanding presence.
My ranking From most fav to still good:
1. Kirsten Williamson (1:40) She is the voice I grew up on and I always loved her voice...She has a modern accent and voice but fits the soft, clear, but Regal vibe with a touch of upper-middle class Black aunty lmao. So she takes number 1.
1.5. Andi Chapman (0:32) She has a strong voice that sounds like it would be Storm... something about her voice is just perfect for it. When I think of any older version of Storm she would take the 1st spot even over Iona Morris. Morris doesn't make the list because I never liked her voice as Storm. I think it was the lines they had her say, which were corny at times and her voice just doesn't have the "Storm quality" imo. #isaidwhatisaid. However, I will say this: Morris sure knew how to bring that emotion to her lines...
2. Dawnn Lewis (3:00) I remember hearing her voice as Storm 4 MUA 2 and remember thinking "Hmm okay they casted her well". Her voice has that soft, clear, but Regal vibe to it as opposed to Chapman, who has a more powerful and raw voice. I prefer Chapman's voice in that regard, but this one is a close 2nd.
2.5 (as well). Unknown Voice [Estelle Liebenberg] (3:04) I really like this voice because it was a really unique take for Storm's accent. I like this accent because it gave her a different vibe that was fresh and new... its a mix of the Traditional American voice cast for Storm but with a European English twist??
5. Jill Scott (4:31) Her voice is a semi-decent competitor for the other Storms. However, I feel that it sounds a bit unnatural? Its like she was trying to go for an African accent, but couldn't quite get it there...but it was good enough to make my list... unlike Cheryl Carter or Debra Wilson
Least Fav Storm Voices (Meh to bad to terrible):
1. Danielle Nicolet (meh) . Her voice does not fit Storm very well... its too "American" and lacks that regal, soft, strong, and/or "leadership like" quality. She's just "a voice"
2. Grey DeLisle (meh/ bad/ not authentic). She is not a bad voice actress by any means but she was not a good cast for Storm's voice, doesn't sound African/ African American. Therefore, its an inauthentic casting...
3. Kathy Garver (Bad/ Cant believe she was casted). She doesn't sound like an African or African American woman by any means, therefore, character voice quality is lost automatically. She sounds "too white" for lack of a better phrase...
4. Cree Summer (Terrible). I know its freaking Superhero Squad, but Summer as Storm is just to childish, raspy, squeaky, and just the general opposite of what/ who Storm is.
Jill Scott is probably the most realistic but Alison Sealy Smith was my first introduction to Storm and part of the reason Storm is my favorite X-Men character.
Iona is to storm what Susan is to Wonder Woman. Honorable mention is Jill friggin Scott!

My favorite is both Iona Morris and Allison Sealy Smith. They're equally great and they compliment each other well. For the longest time I didn't even know there had been two voice actors for Storm in the original.
2nd is Kirsten Williamson. One of my favorite scenes from the Evolution is when Storm fights Mystique.
I actually really liked Andi Chapman. I wonder how that show would've turned out.
