I noticed that too! My grandparents are from Scotland and they would water down their accent when they would talk to Americans. Even with that people couldn’t understand them.
Love these two men! Yes, Scots have a great deal of charm. So happy a man like James McAvoy has made it big. He works hard at his craft & it shows. He is a good decent man. His grandparents did a great job raising him! Would love to meet him!
I must have watched this at least five times by now. I am simply smitten by James McAvoy and Craig Ferguson is simply wonderful. Thanks for taking the time to make this compilation
"The vortex of Scottish charm"... I can't stop laughing 🤣 Don't get me wrong, been living in Scotland for a couple of years and I'm madly in love with the accent. :)
I've heard James mention in several interviews how his accent has changed over the years, never thought much of it until seeing this right now! Compare that 2007 interview to his accent now - massive difference. Can see what his mates mean when they say he's went posh.
Notice how he quickly changed 'I couldnae...' to 'I couldn't...' at 1:05, suddenly realising he's on an American late-night chat show, and not the STV evening news....
Weird. Whenever I go there, people are very friendly and charming, always making me laugh with a quick witted joke and so on. One time in Edinburgh, a bus driver even gave me a ride for free because I had been out of coins for a ticket. I am from Germany, and over here things like that are practically unheard of. I can imagine that probably Scottish people give each other a hard time but for some reason are really nice to foreign visitors. It's like they think: Aw, that poor lad must have gotten lost along his travels, why else would he have come here? Let's not go too harsh on him..
Amazing how these actors with thick accents cover them so well when playing American characters. For instance, it took me years to discover that Nicole Kidman was Australian.
The Scots are probably the best banters and talk shite and chat mates. Ferguson, Billy BIG YIN Connolly, Ewan McGregor, Gerrard Butler and James McAvoy. Imagine all of em in a room for 2 hours just talking.
He's talking about my husband Michael Dorran but he didn't use knuckle dusters, my kids have seen this and the abuse my husband gets abuse from it! It's defamation of character and it's untrue
MccAvoy very short but so charasmatic he seems tall idk how to explain it but as far as WAnted goes, i liked it,, but didnt like how they didnt come out and say Fight Club was a huge influence of it... i mean... even when he explains it its like Fight Club, ive seen that movie a hundred times and can recite every line.... why does james say "poo" so much also how come angelina always plays somebody slightly sadistic?
No, you've got it wrong! It's the "Vortex of Scottish charm"!
Thanks! Corrected.
Nice :).
I love how he says “couldnae” and then feels the need to correct it to “couldn’t”
Yah
I noticed that too! My grandparents are from Scotland and they would water down their accent when they would talk to Americans. Even with that people couldn’t understand them.
James is just unbelievably charming and delightful. Forever one of my cinematic crushes.
Love these two men! Yes, Scots have a great deal of charm. So happy a man like James McAvoy has made it big. He works hard at his craft & it shows. He is a good decent man. His grandparents did a great job raising him! Would love to meet him!
Wish Craig did more than three interviews of James McAvoy.
It's not just the accent, they're both really quick on their feet
Can't think of two people I'd rather spend time with. Be a real challenge to keep up, and that's the best kind of company.
@@AbsentWithoutLeaving fun fact: pause the video while reading comments and magically hear a Scottish accent in your head.
All of the above! ❤😊
The relationship between these two seems to me like Craig is like that proud uncle or older relative who's thrilled and proud of James doing so well.
I must have watched this at least five times by now. I am simply smitten by James McAvoy and Craig Ferguson is simply wonderful. Thanks for taking the time to make this compilation
Thanks for all these compilations, JayLeno Fly. I'm enjoying them! Especially all the Scotsmen...
Glad you found em! ahhh, how could you resist the scottish vacuum of charm.
James is one of my favourite guests that Craig had.
I could listen to them all day!
I repeated James' "brrrass knuckles" way too many times. Best interview! So chill and witty and charming indeed.
I could listen to James forever. 😍
James McAvoy--What a total doll!
Edit: And I still love (and miss) Craig Ferguson.
Im slowly, but surely, liking every video on here! It will take a while, but the journey will be marvelous!
"The vortex of Scottish charm"... I can't stop laughing 🤣
Don't get me wrong, been living in Scotland for a couple of years and I'm madly in love with the accent. :)
I love it when scottish ppl say "Murder"
Artemisia494 look up Taggart, old cop show set in Glasgow, "there's been a murrrrder" perfect 😂
haha gotta check that!
Helen Christie
Ha! was thinking the exact same thing.
"He wuz murrrrrdud!"
2nd place is the Welsh "Mardar, mardar, mardar" from Hot Fuzz.
Murrrdurrr
I never knew he was that funny. Great interviews. 😂
Finally! Thank you! Love McAvoy!
Anytime bro!
Unleash the beast.
It is pleasing to watch the same person on Craig's show in succession. Thank you.
Split is one of my favorites
McAvoy, McGregor, Butler, Manson ... those Scots, some of the best interviews.
James is one of my man crushes
You are an amazing youtuber!
I was confused for a minute when Jon Cryer came on... I didn't know he was where the vortex of Scottish charm came from!
I had the same reaction upon finding out.
Have you ever seen two guys have so much fun together!
I love James McAvoy.
Love McAvoy! THank You!!!!
Sure thing!
First saw him in Narnia --- he is beautiful
God the early episodes really look like it's from the 80's or 90's...
Not sure why everyone says this. Many of these clips are poor quality and Craig had a cheap set
I've heard James mention in several interviews how his accent has changed over the years, never thought much of it until seeing this right now! Compare that 2007 interview to his accent now - massive difference. Can see what his mates mean when they say he's went posh.
To me, he sounds the same
He is more Bearden than Drumchapel now, if you're from Glasgow you'll understand
Notice how he quickly changed 'I couldnae...' to 'I couldn't...' at 1:05, suddenly realising he's on an American late-night chat show, and not the STV evening news....
I live in Dunfermline (near Edinburgh) for 14 years and the people I went to school with were about as charming as a kick in the nuts.
Lanarkshire is even worse. Worse than Glasgow.

I’ve been to Yoker.
Oh, there are good & bad everywhere. I have family in Scotland & they are heavenly people.
I also like how James went Full Ned when he was chatting to Craig twice. XD
Oh, I love James McAvoy.😊
Amazing how these actors with thick accents cover them so well when playing American characters. For instance, it took me years to discover that Nicole Kidman was Australian.
I never thought he was Scottish not England!!my bad!!!!!
My goodness, you're everywhere!!
She was born in the U.S.
I can always hear her Aussie accent.
I rewound 8:37 to 8:42 about 9 times. Jesus Christ.
16:27 the way he says murder is the cause of MY death
In scotland you either have extremely nice people or the neds. Theirs nae in between
Ooooy Jamesee boy yyou’ve chainged, now ye sound all merican!
Bless, James has such an adorable nervous fidgety energy. Side note: 4:28 had me laughing out loud, hard.
The Scots are probably the best banters and talk shite and chat mates. Ferguson, Billy BIG YIN Connolly, Ewan McGregor, Gerrard Butler and James McAvoy. Imagine all of em in a room for 2 hours just talking.
And Angus McFadden...another hottie! 😍
McFadyen
Then you never met an italian. That's for sure. So your statement is incorrect. FYI
People in Scotland say toon but not as in tune as in town.
“A lot of people who watch this are high”
Me, being the stoned intellectual I am: Did my phone just skip back 10 seconds on its own?”
Craig, we still want to see you in those horse trousers!
1:23 Tom holland, step aside. My man spoiled the ending of x men: first class before it was even written.
19:42 I want to believe that's where the idea of getting Secretariat came from...
Should've visited more! I can't believe his last visit was 2008
'my skin is not my own'
His accent..
6:40 Start, 11:31 🤣🤣🤣 11:46 hey would you like to go tonight? Get some of this for real?
All the most handsome men in the world are from Glasglow. Evidence.
the movie he talks about at 4:35 has the wildest cast.
Any Gerard Butler compilations? Then it's Scottish overload! 😎
Linda P Golan Cant be far away! ;)
AWESOME looking forward thanks!
Sure thing!
He moves so quickly i thought he was going to dislocate something. 😂
Such a pity we never got to experience Craig interviewung Gerard, Ewan and James ( together)
He did interview Gerard.
@hellokittyangel211 together 😅
@ LOL, thank you.
Craig Ferguson & Mr Tumnus😍
pure chaos 😂
no the junkie laugh 😭
Great Crack!
Know The Drum very well😂 used to live in the next town
What is the music intro? I love it mate.
Pacific Sun - Nicolai Heidlas, it's a good piece!
Not sure which dudes are smoother with the ladies, scotts or italians..
they sound the most old country in the 3rd interview for sure
what was the outro. it feels so nostalgic.
What do you want to know :D haha, Glad you liked it!:D
Bloody Mordor!
I enjoy watching James. Wanted is a good movie. His ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff is very attractive.
theres been a MURDAH...
3:42 LMAO
Was it here Craig and his crew got the idea for secretariat?
I culd'n'go
my theory is that James McAvoy is afraid of gay robot skeletons and that’s why he never came back after like 2008
I've heard that's not the only thing you have that's like a horse 😏
👀👀👀
He's talking about my husband Michael Dorran but he didn't use knuckle dusters, my kids have seen this and the abuse my husband gets abuse from it! It's defamation of character and it's untrue
I'm still wondering to this day what he meant by "real sex"...like...what?
No music next time?
what language are they speaking? its sounds though as if they are using some English words in theirs conversation.
Scots
But why "infamous" and not just "famous"? Infamous means it's bad.
And nobody understood a word of it.... ;)
MccAvoy very short but so charasmatic he seems tall idk how to explain it
but as far as WAnted goes, i liked it,, but didnt like how they didnt come out and say Fight Club was a huge influence of it...
i mean... even when he explains it its like Fight Club, ive seen that movie a hundred times and can recite every line....
why does james say "poo" so much
also how come angelina always plays somebody slightly sadistic?
.
Watching in 2024 and i dont have a clue who James McAvoy is
He looks like Stewie Griffin. Yes he does.
Craig is more Trans Atlantic
.
