      I keep cash on hand in case I get mugged. It's a habit from when I was overseas and muggers were likely to just let you go unharmed, as long as they got paid. It's still money that I have, and if I'm someplace where I'm getting mugged so often that it becomes a problem, the solution is to stop going to places where muggers hang out.

      You can do that, although it's probably better just to go to a print shop and pay them to laminate it. Kinkos does it for less than a dollar including tax. Other shops likely do it for a similar price.
      With proper lamination, it will be nearly completely water proof without having to worry about it actually being water proof that one time you really need it to be.

    In a cheap, plastic, zippered coin purse - contact card, magnifying credit card found at a dollar store, 2 bandaids, pain killers, tiny nail file and tweezers from an old nail care kit, tooth floss picks, cough drop, eyeglass cleaner wipes, tiny packet of sugar and coffee stirrer from a coffee shop, 2 elastic bands (from asparagus bundles), 2 twist ties, tiny tube of super glue from a craft set, 2 antibacterial wipes, eyeglass replair kit with a little screwdriver and tiny screws, rolled up piece of duck tape.

    I always roll my eyes at channels that talk about "everyday carry" and they're showing off $100+ titanium screwdrivers or silliness like that. This is more of what I think of when I think of EDC. Stuff you've got on hand, or that can be found anywhere that just help you get through the day. Nothing super fancy, nothing super expensive so that if it gets lost/stole/broken it's not a big deal.

    • @SurvivingtheDaily
      @SurvivingtheDaily  2 месяца назад +3

      Truthfully, I like my "$100 titanium toys". But I do realize that's really all they are, they are toys. The price tag isn't going to get you through the day any easier.

    • @SmallSpoonBrigade
      @SmallSpoonBrigade 12 дней назад

      @@SurvivingtheDaily The E just means every, wither it's $1 or $1k if it's in there everyday, then it's an EDC item.
      I completely understand why they show off the toys, they're cool and probably lead to more affiliate sales. But, the things that I personally keep with me at all times are usually a lot cheaper.

    My edc kit is in a pill bottle - cards don’t fit but the other stuff does; tape and cord wraps around the outside. I have a separate smaller bottle stuffed with toilet paper, enough for 3-4 uses, because that particular need occurs more frequently than pretty much anything else that I’m prepared for.

    Simple, Chums Surf Shorts wallet that is RFID, attaches your keys, has a little pocket for your fob or cards/I.Ds/ security badge that you need handy, two zippered pockets the long way, one with an I..D window & a separated section for cards/credit cards/I.D.s. Turn it upside down the long way and you have another zippered pocket big enough for dollar bills folded in half AND still fit your medication for the day & a band aid if that's what you want. It is attached to a key ring where I also attach an Olight mini & a Victorinox Classic small pocket knife. The light, the keys, & knife can fit in the pocket meant for the fob. All slips easily in your front pocket and you can't see it from the ourside.

    But blood group is completely unnecessary, there's simply no way anyone will ever transfuse blood based on your self-reported blood group. Same goes for patches displaying your blood type or whatever it might be.

    Tool or Toy
    Sometimes I go out and about with a wallet and car key.
    Lately my full complement is a titanium spoon, a SAK Bantam, an Olight LED light, a pen, a single sheet of printer paper folded in 1/4s and Pepper Spray.

      @SurvivingtheDaily  Месяц назад +1

      EDC stands for everyday carry. It's those items that we carry that help us get through our day. Some carry flashlights pocket knives, screwdrivers, etc. but really it could be just your keys, wallet, and watch. It's personalized to each of us.
