      It was underrated because Disney CEO wanted to kill and close "old way" animating studio so they released it in worst possible moment and lets say politely not spend much on marketing, it was perfect murder. Fun fact they had to reanimated all drawing depo for princess and a frog and lost lots of $$ doing so from scratch xD karma is a bitch... you need to fact check it, its what i heard while doing my animation project back on my college days.

      Hey now I love High Charity but with what we’ve seen from it in comparison to other much smaller stations, well I can see why it’s over looked by so many. Don’t get me wrong it’s a very beautiful place before ‘you know what’ happened. With the Forerunner dreadnought almost always being visible when ever your on the covenant equivalent of sidewalks, it really does strike you as a holy place.

      I think, technically, High Charity is a ship rather than a space station. Yes, a lot of the space station can move itself but only at subluminal speed, wherein High Charity can jump pretty much anywhere.

    • @justiceforjoggers2897
      @justiceforjoggers2897 5 лет назад +22

      High Charity is a mobile Holy City, with a forerunner dreadnought attached. Loved the atmosphere while slaughtering Covies and flood alike

    • @downrangecash2418
      @downrangecash2418 5 лет назад +6

      Anh Triệu while that is a valid point, in-universe High Charity is actually pretty slow-moving in Slipspace (by Covenant standards) due to being so large and Reconciliation issues.
      The Forerunner novels go into bigger detail on this regarding the entire idea of spacetime "debt" when you're moving around Halos and Shield Worlds. So the Holy City can't actually move around wherever it wants, and is a lot slower than smaller civilian and military craft (though given the fact High Charity is the capital, everything comes to *it,* so this doesn't matter too much.)

      I absolutely love the Citadel, but with the small sections you get to explore, you don't _really_ get a sense of scale. You're locked inside, only walking a few floors in each game. Of course, I know that they couldn't possibly make the entire wards, but I still would have loved it! Y'know, actually wander the streets, take in the sights, looking up at the awesome buildings, flying cards everywhere. I really wish there was more of that. Maybe someday...

    • @Anlushac11
      @Anlushac11 5 лет назад +10

      I agree that Babylon Five should have placed higher on list, especially when you consider that Paramount, Rick Berman, and Brannon Braga literally stole the idea from J Michael Stracynski after he pitched Babylon Five to Paramount to see if they would produce the show. There was a lawsuit, IIRC it was settled out of court.

    • @762rk95tp

      @@Anlushac11 The guy who copied B5 wasn't Rick Berman or Michael Piller, it was some network executive who moved to Paramount from NBC at least that is the rumor. JMS also pitched the show to NBC. According to JMS it is unlikely Berman or Piller were even aware of B5 pitch, too low in corporate hierarchy. Braga wasn't even close to being that high in food chain at Paramount, he started with Star Trek as intern 1990.

      There is a statement from a former Paramount employee who said Paramount sat on B5 info for months and cherry picked what they wanted. In the end neither side wanted to pursue a costly and protracted legal battle so things were settled in a amicable way.
      Later Majel Barret appeared on B5 and Bill Mumy appeared on DS9. I seem to remember Majel Barret Roddenberry saying she appeared on B5 as a way to try and bring peace between the two fan bases.

    Earth Space Dock from Star Trek 3: the search for Spock, so good CBS just kept using it.

    Finally Station V from 2001 a Space Odyssey, the first visually impressive space station scene in history. Consider it was made literally 50 years ago and it still resonates culturally.

    My List...
    5. Deep Space Nine: I like the concept, but the coloring and dark shadows covering some details makes it less likable to me.
    4. Halo Super MAC platforms; playing in Cairo Station during Halo 2 is an experience I’ll never forget, and I love the vivid design, or more or less a giant Gun in space.
    3. Babylon 5: A well-crafted and excellent design from an incredible series. Unfortunately, the lack of a good model has brought it down for me, but it’s still an awesome design.
    2. The Citadel: I love this design, but it could easily drop to Number 3. It is iconic, but I think that there is one better design, obviously.
    1. Iserlohn Fortress: You’re probably wondering what this is at glance. It’s from an older anime called Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and in my opinion the simplistic but intimidating design has stuck with me since I watched the show. It helps that it came from (in my opinion) the best sci-fi fiction piece I’ve ever seen. And, I mean, I can’t complain about the Thor Hammer. A fleet killing laser gun that appears from underneath liquid metal? Count me in!

    Fun fact. Originally Deep Space 9 was supposed to be an ancient space station that had been built by an unknown race, and over the centuries, alien races who had taken up residence on it had expanded the station by constructing further attachments and structures based on their own architectural style that would clash with what was added before and after.So finally when Starfleet took control, it was a cultural eye-sore of mismatched structural sections and architecture.

    Your point about DS9 going from hostile to home is spot on. The aesthetic, right from the opening sequence, also says "this isn't TNG" ;)
    Just watched an old ep where there's an incident with a Romulan WarBird... Sisko say's something like "...we've got 50 photon torpedoes targeting it..." and the Romulans respond with "I think it is time for us to leave." Yeah, station is much bigger than a ship.
    Oh, and my wife noticed something I missed... The day is 26 hours long, and writers did a great job consistently just sprinkling that in. The characters often refer to time periods like 26, 42, or 78 hours. A little thing, but shows some real thought and care.
