Chess.com Is Full Of (Unbanned) Cheaters!

  • Chess.com apparently has the best chess "cheat detection" system, so why are so many obvious cheaters not getting banned?
And, yes, I reported all the accounts.
In this video I expose some cheaters that have not been banned yet, some of the reasons why I'm confident they're cheating, and how they're beating the system.
In short, to beat the chess.com cheat detection system, you just need to:
    1. Lower the skill level of your bot
    2. Play some random moves by yourself
    3. Play variants
Chess.com has no way to analyze variants games with an engine, because they're not smart enough to download Fairy Stockfish, or worse, go to lichess. That means that anyone can cheat as in variants in any way they'd like.
My argument for why these accounts are cheaters relies mostly on their move times, but also their style of play. No player could play so many bullet games with move times described in the video (all moves between 0.3-0.8 seconds, etc). If the cheaters find a way to randomize move times better, even I probably wouldn't suspect them.

Thats always such a fcking annoying giveaway. You put your opponent in an obviously bad spot, then they spend like 1-2 minutes "thinking", which is immediately followed by making 10 perfect moves in a row to bring them out of their shitty position.

I play the caro-kann a lot and he played the exchange variation and preceded to gain the most minimal advantage over the next 30 moves. 800's don't play that way. yet he didn't get banned. He's still not banned.

  • @TheDedloc
    @TheDedloc 10 месяцев назад +37

It's obvious why. It's because they have subscriptions to the game... and the better ur subscription the more you get away with it. It wouldnt make sense for them to ban 30,000 people that are paying them $15.00 a month. They only really care about their money events and outside of that you need to have a title for ur report to do anything. Because a huge % of players just report people when they lose and they arent actually cheating. But if you watch like a GM speed run youll notice that if they play aganst a cheater that person will get banned immediately after the game. They do have good cheat detection and they also choose to not use it on everyone. Free accounts that don't pay anything get caught pretty quick, people that play the real money events, and people that get reported by titled players... other than that you can buy a subscription go months and months cheating until ur rating gets high enough that you start playing titled players and the will report you and you get caught. Better off just leaving the game if ur facing a titled player and cheating.

    • @alexhudson-

Most GM streamers are cheaters themselves. All you have to do is watch a GM streamer play blitz online and watch their eyes as they "look at chat" 20 times in a 3 minute game. I'm sorry, but reading 20 comments and responding to a chat while playing blitz is literally impossible. If someone looks at another monitor while streaming online, they are cheating.

  • @fintan9218

It seems like Cc is just banning people when they becoming publicly shammed for it, while not improving their detection system. Im convinced the amount of “light cheating”, which is just cheating, is rampant at low elo on Cc. I can rank 1000 rapid 10+0 on lichess and the games feel more honest. On Cc im ranked 934 in puzzles without trying, but 150 elo in rapid where i have all my online games basically(45%win,48% lost,7%draws). Ive only been playing/learning for about three months so i dipped down to 100s at start. Ive had multiple games with no blunders, and some where i had 80% accuracy, won, and analysis rated me 700-800. These were often games right after i did some lessons and was in the zone.
Heres the thing though, i think a lot of people have had similar happen. Unfortunately a lot of them choose to start using bot in important moments in attempt to get out the low elo hole. I have analyzed some of my games and my opponent plays complete book openings gaining advantage over me who doesnt know all the opening variations yet. Then theyll start playing like they dont know chess much at all, ill gain advantage…and theyll just keep finding best moves in the most key moments. It always just feels off. However i could imagine someone looking at my games and possibly thinking I cheated, as some games i just played much better than others. Yet i know for a fact i never have, so im not sure how possible it is to actually detect cheating completely. Its likely balance of too many false accusations and too many unbanned cheaters. Which seems to just allow enough room for bot assistance to be used sporadically or in methodical way. As a beginner its really demoralizing, but ive still been growing to love chess regardless.
tl;dr sporadic/methodical cheating seems too difficult to detect without also having false accusations becoming an issue. Sad state for online chess

I can't even play. Anyone who has played a lot of chess can tell how obvious it is. Ive played a lot of games vs stockfish. Human games usually feel different than stockfish games. On lichess it always feels like stockfish, and the strategy becomes trying to bait your opponent into playing a human move and losing. A common thing that happens is when the opponent wins in a complicated game, and tries to convert an easy win it becomes obvious they can barely checkmate in a completely winning endgame on their own.

The issue isnt with cheating all the time, its when people get into trouble, they'll use an engine to get out of it. Maybe they see an opening they've never seen before, so they quick open a book, or look online for the common variations of that opening and turn it into an open-notes test. It's noticeable in the lower levels when your opponent takes forever on the first few moves, and then plays rapid for the entire opening. I play certain odd variations expecting to throw off my opponents at my rating, and its amazing how many 1500's know the exact book opening for variations they've never seen in their online history. Those accounts seem to never get banned either. Only the fools who play the engine moves every time get banned.

@@AyrtonTwigglichess is atrocious. There's also plainly a lot of bots. Between bots and cheaters online chess is sadly pointless. May as well practice against stockfish.

Why are you so surprised that your opponent plays too quickly if it is a bullet game?🙄 Speed is supposed to be the first thing that shows that the person is not a cheater actually

The suspicion arises from the flat move times across the board for each move.
Every move has such a similar or equal time that it's almost inhuman to accomplish such metronome like timing I think is what he's getting at.
Which is why I asked the question what does it look like to cheat in this manner from the cheaters perspective because it's almost like they're not even playing at all by the sound of it.

Well, if you think you’ll escape from cheaters playing on lichess instead, you’ll be very quickly disappointed, it’s even worse there unfortunately. Life is life

@@mychessvideos61 I'm sure I did, but it's not even close compared to chesscom. Just yesterday I pulled out my phone to play some games, and the 2nd bullet game I played was a cheater.

Ayrton, all these online platforms are overrun with cheaters. Lichess has many cheaters, too. Online chess really suffers from this garbage.
