I just made the switch from a trophy ridge react H5 to the CBE tactic hybrid 3 pin. I like to practice between 40-60 yards consistently during the off season, then shoot 20-40 closer to season start. I won’t shoot a deer beyond 40 and prefer 30 and under if I can get a shot. The 3 pins on my sight are 10,20,30 and I can still dial out to 87 yards on the slider if I want to shoot 3D.

I've thought about this exact thing a lot. I ended up with Trophy Ridge Hotwire 3 pin. In my opinion, its the best of both worlds. 2 fixed and a floater.

I use a single pen and I do know adjustments I just know if it’s 40 yards. I am 2 inches higher than my normal target spot at 30 yards. It’s at 50 yards. I am 5 inches higher than my normal target spot no changing and dials. Most important thing is to be able to judge distance.

I agree I shoot a five pin never know when the buck off your life come running through no time to adjust single pin

I can tell you I had a sight where my 20 and 40 yard pins were the same color. Cost me a deer during a 20 yard shot that went 40 yard pin high

I like the three pin I feel like the sight gets to crowded with five

When they're chasing n won't stop, just need to be louder stopping them.. I prefer a 2 pin fast eddie.. it works good for me. I had one time 6yrs ago when a big 8 was on full throttle chasing a hot moma n it didn't matter how loud i yell he just kept on... but it's bow hunting..

I haven't had my single pin cost me YET. Im going away from it when I upgrade to a new bow, though. Probably a 3 pin slider.

The third topic will be whether or not crossbows are archery equipment. The ancients didn't have this argument. 😅

For hunting Whitetail or any other small animals which usually requires.40 yards or less EZV is KING

I’ve learned after bow hunting after 19-20 years. a single pen sight is why better then a multi pen sight like what I grew up using Now that being said ( You have to know your limits most people don’t have enough restraint to not shoot when the shot is not 100% right. Now with using a multi pen sight you can’t be as precise as with a single pen it blocks a lot of your field of view. Now. Like this guy is saying it can cost you plenty of deer but with plenty of practice. You can know you’re hold over to 30 35 like I do it just takes practice and if I can’t adjust my slider i won’t be shooting

That's why you use a dual pin slider.

As a trad hunter I’m honestly pretty baffled. Don’t get me wrong I think compounds are cool and it’s neat to see just how effective you can make something, but at a certain point I think a lot of you have let technology make you soft.
Like wouldn’t you practice enough to have a really good idea what your holdover would be even if the pin is the wrong distance? I mean as a trad shooter I have zero sight and parallax to deal with. Maybe that’s the issue, compounds are so easy you take a few shots and say you’re dialed and then you aren’t prepared if things aren’t perfect.

Single bevel 2 blade fixed broadhead all day. I prefer and adjustable 3 pin

Fixed blade are like slide rules. Eventually all the people clinging to yesterday's technology will fade by the wayside and the thinking people will all shoot the most lethal mechanicals.

Single pin is trash for hunting.
